The only issue we had was that we had no privacy because there were no window coverings anywhere. After researching a few companies we ended with reaching out to to budget blinds and meeting with Lea. She was efficient in answering all of our questions and taking a look our out windows to help narrow down exactly what we want. Previously before our remodel we had shutters, but I had some concerns about bringing that back into our home. I was very interested in the roller shades and she was able to show me how that would work for our home. We ended up picking a color and tried that would work for our home. Plus we did drapes for one of our bedrooms. Michael came and did our installation and he was great! Installation took a couple hours, which its to be expected considering we had about 16 windows. But now that everything is done. it looks amazing! We chose some shades that allow light to filter to through during the daytime and still allows privacy at night. I am absolutely in love with the choices we made and happy to have gone with that company. If you are considering windows I would definitely at least reach out to Lea.

I first checked with Home Depot and other companies, but their prices were over my budget. I found iHomeShutters on Yelp and sent an inquiry. David got back to me immediately and we scheduled an appointment. He arrived on time to take measurements, showed me different shade options, and explained the pros and cons of zebra shades in detail. David suggested doing motorized for the big window because it's too large for manual, and it turned out beautifully. I ended up choosing zebra shades, motorized for the large windows and manual for the rest. The shades arrived a week earlier than expected. On installation day, Yeyo showed up early and installed all 12 windows super fast. He also cleaned up afterward. All the shades turned out beautifully. I'm a very happy customer and highly recommend iHomeShutters to everyone.

We think the pricing was fair as well. I don't remember pricing though but I do remember that my parents thought it was fair value. I totally forgot about them until my mom asked me last night because her friend wanted to get shutters installed so my mom asked me to find this place's info to send to her friend. :)

We were interested in changing them out for motorized shades and Rommel came out to our home for the consultation. He explained that the original cellular shades could not be retro-fitted to be motorized, so we would have to buy new sets. No problem - and totally understandable! Rommel was very patient and thorough with his explanation of why and working with us to understand our project. We ended up purchasing four sets of shades for our primary bedroom to cover two large windows with a two-layer, motorized system of black-out and light-filtering cellular shades. Rommel's installation team (Rene and Martin) were amazing - super fast, diligent, and competent! They also moved the original set of cellular shades we had to our living room, which meant we didn't lose them after all! They also updated the cord pulls for the original set, which we appreciated. The motorized shades have been such a wonderful addition to our master bedroom! We love the total darkness it provides for sleeping in -- and the automatic scheduler to lower / raise the shades as well has proven very convenient. We are VERY pleased with this upgrade. Overall, JMK Shutters offers a comprehensive, customer-first experience. Their team is knowledgeable, competent, and on-time. We have only good things to say about Rommel, Rene, and Martin and would consider them again for future work.

Had a great experience with this company. Aleksandra was great. It was easy to set up an appointment with her, was punctual, she was very knowledgeable about providing options for us, very professional, and gave us a very competitive quote. Tony removed the drapes in our family room and came back later to install the new/relined drapes. He obviously has a lot of experience with this, worked very quickly, and was also very professional. Most importantly we are very happy with the result.

We used Bay Area Window for four skylight shades…read more Design (Aleksandra): 5/5 Aleksandra was communicative and responsive throughout the process. She provided meaningful options and we are happy with the design. We discussed with Aleksandra that we wanted the shades installed as close to our skylights as possible, and she confirmed with the installer that that was possible. Install (David): 2/5 We did a walkthrough with David and again explained that we wanted the shades as close to our skylights as possible. He asked, and we told him, that we also wanted the solar recharging panels to be on the side where the shade collected when opened (so the panels would be less visible). To be fair, David warned us that he would likely scratch the walls and may leave gaps because the coverage around our skylights was uneven. Both of those came to pass (which I am separately fixing), but that is not why we are unhappy with the install. Rather: - Despite the fact our ceiling is flat and our skylights are flat, David installed the shades at a slight angle. When I confronted him about it, he stated he was trying to follow the wall around the skylight. I disagree that his approach accomplished that. In any event, if there were options as to how the shades were going to be installed, we believe David should have conferred with us before unilaterally making a decision. - David also installed the solar panels on the opposite side of where we discussed. David stated he had no recollection of our prior conversation. We disagree that we never discussed this, but as above, if there were options, we believe David should have checked with us before installing. After confronting David about the shade with the most severe angle he begrudgingly reinstalled it (photos attached). Aleksandra did offer a partial refund and offered to have David come back out and reinstall the shade. However, we do not have the availability to monitor David the entire time he is here, which appears to be the only way to ensure things are done as we discussed. Additionally, the 3 of the 4 corner covers have fallen from the shade that David reinstalled and we do not relish the same thing happening to the other shades. The upshot is Aleksandra is easy to work with, but if you get David to do your install you may want to supervise his work.

I had a terrible experience and cannot recommend Budget Blinds of Berkeley and Richmond…read more I spent nearly $3,000 on custom shades specifically because I wanted the guidance of an in-home consultant. Instead, I ended up with multiple problems that I believe should have been prevented during the consultation, followed by an installation experience that became defensive and confrontational. The biggest unresolved issue is the headrail color. I chose Natural Tan fabric, and the paperwork said "Rail Color: DEFAULT." No one explained that the default headrail would be tan, or that white was available instead. All of the window trim in my home is white, and I would have chosen white had that option been explained. I'm not a window-treatment professional. That's exactly why I hired a consultant. When I raised this on installation day, the salesperson/installer argued that I should have understood it from a blue shade sample I'd been shown with a blue headrail. It wasn't until then that he told me I could have ordered white headrails to match my trim. The owner later offered to remake the shades with white headrails at wholesale cost, which would still have required me to spend more than $2,000 to correct a choice that was never explained to me in the first place. There was also a major misunderstanding about a front-window shade. I specifically asked whether they could make a shade that was both light filtering and room darkening, operable from the top down. He told me yes, absolutely, and when I mentioned that another company had told me they didn't offer this, he assured me that Budget Blinds did. Someone else present at the consultation came away with the same understanding I did. What arrived was a 100% blackout shade, not light filtering. When I raised this during installation, the salesperson/installer became defensive, argumentative, and confrontational in my home, to the point that someone involved by phone asked him to leave the property. The owner never addressed my concerns about the installer's behavior. Her position throughout was essentially, "You signed the quote, so the responsibility is yours." That may be her contractual position, but it sidesteps the reason I hired an in-home consultant in the first place, which was to explain important product and design choices I did not know enough to ask about. There were other issues as well. A door shade did not provide the side-angle privacy I had asked for, one shade arrived with a cracked headrail and had to be replaced, and when the installer later returned for that replacement, he arrived almost three hours before the scheduled appointment without confirmation. The owner did acknowledge that this violated their scheduling policy. To the owner's credit, the damaged shade was replaced and I received a credit for the returned front shade minus a 25% fee. But overall, the experience was stressful, adversarial, and far below what I expected from a custom in-home service. The shades themselves are functional and reasonably attractive, but I'm stuck with large tan headrails that don't match my home. I would not work with this company again.
