Loved this bagel shop!! One of my favorite places we went to in Traverse City. It seems super popular because it's likely the best bagel you'll get in this area. They also sell a bunch of different bagel flavors I've never seen before and they have a great cream cheese selection, including seasonal cream cheeses (such as strawberry for the summer) and a vegan cream cheese made with cashews. When we arrived around 9am, there was a pretty long line out the door but it moved quickly. All the bagels are made fresh in-house and they do not toast the bagels because of how fresh they are. They're constantly making them and restocking the bagels. I ordered an everything bagel with plain cream cheese, and they really respect the schmear here--genuinely the most cream cheese I've ever gotten on a bagel lol. Obviously it was delicious. The picture is the line I was standing to get INTO Bubbies. So, usually a good indication of the product. It did not disappoint. Bagels were super fresh and beware...when they run out of bagels they are out and closed. No place to eat inside. Place an order ahead...it saves waiting in line at the store. I ended up waiting about 15 minutes until I got up to the counter to order. After I ordered I only waited about 5 minutes for my bagels to be ready. They really had quick service which was awesome! The inside of the restaurant is small, making it tight when the line gets long and people are waiting for their food. I heard this place gets busy, so I placed my order online. It was so easy! I drove over to grab them, and there was a line near the entrance and the inside was full of people waiting. Since it was so full, it was hard to see if there was a lot of seating areas. I'm thinking no, since almost everyone was standing and smushed together. They have a pick-up area, so it was still easy and quick for me. I don't know what it is about Michigan, but a lot of the places I visited tasted so salty to me. I was hoping this would be different since it looked so fresh. I got a breakfast sandwich bagel that looked and smelled amazing. With my first bite, all I got was salt. I couldn't taste the egg, cheese, or anything else which was weird to me. The cream cheese was supposed to be scallion or green onion flavored. I saw even a piece of onion on it but I couldn't taste it. Overall, I thought the bagel had a nice texture and the sandwich was a fair size for the price. We went to bubbies for a quick breakfast before we went up to old mission lighthouse. There was a bit of a line, but it moved pretty quickly and we were inside before we knew it. Inside they have a few local items to buy. The cashier was really helpful and answered any questions we had. It is a bit tight inside of the shop, but the wait wasn't long so it wasn't too bad. The bagel sandwiches are SO good. Both of our choices were delicious. We also got a sweet bagel to try that was a seasonal special that was also fantastic. We stopped here on a whim to grab breakfast before starting our road trip home and are so glad we did! The place was clearly very popular with a line going a ways down the sidewalk, but the staff did a great job of moving the line along quickly, so it didn't feel like a terrible wait. I got the Carlson sandwich that was on special (white fish salad!) and my boyfriend got the veggie sandwich. We both got the sandwiches on everything bagels and loved them! The portions are generous and the bagels are DELICIOUS. The store itself is cute and they have it set up well with an area for call-ahead pickup, and despite the long line and many call-in orders, we only waited a couple of minutes after ordering to get our sandwiches. My boyfriend tells me the coffee was good as well! To top it off, despite being really busy, the staff were organized, cheerful, and friendly. Just like we'd have at my Bubbies. I go every time I'm in Traverse City. Ordering ahead on the app is super easy and then you just have to grab your order off the shelf inside, skipping the line. However, I found out recently that in high season they do not do online ordering on the weekends. I generally get the supernova, lox, pickled red onion (oh, man!), dill and pea shoots, with green onion cream cheese, without the capers. My friend loves the garden, fresh with veggies. You can pick the type of bagel as well. They really load it with toppings, so I do have to take it apart to have a side at a time, nice shmear as well.
