Fantastic sandwich and pizza option if you're headed to or from Sleeping Bear Dunes!…read more We came across Shipwreck Cafe after stopping for gas next door on the way to Sleeping Bear Dunes. We wanted a kid friendly option and came in for the pizza, but ended up being blown away by the massive sandwich menu! Don't be discouraged by the line - it moves FAST!!!! The young people at the register and in the kitchen are efficient and so nice!!! We arrived about half an hour before the sign says pizzas are ready, and the lovely man at the register said "sure!" when we asked if we could order a pizza. The menu has something for everyone - Including plenty of vegetarian options (I think they even had a vegan option). I loved my Griffon, and the meat eaters in our group enjoyed the SS Noronic (a BLT) and the Fitzgerald. Our kids devoured their cheese pizza! They also carry Great Lakes Co Chips, which are some of the best potato chips we've ever had. Our sandwiches were all so inventive with delicious, fresh ingredients, amazing condiments, and the most freshly baked "pretzel rolls" ever. If this place wasn't a vacation stop for us, we'd be back all the time! Our kiddos favorite part, bedsides the pizza, were the tiny plastic swords that came in our sandwiches holding them together. When they each wanted one more sword, we went back inside and the staff inside was so used to kids asking for more tiny swords that their response to "May we have two more swords?" Was "Sure! What colors?!" Very different from what the response would have been where we're from. :) We even came back later in the day for the frozen custard!!! All in all, it was a great experience with great food, great service, plenty of outdoor picnic tables under umbrellas, and something for everyone to eat.

Follow their social media for daily and weekly specials too! By the looks of everything I saw come out of the kitchen I cannot imagine any of it is short of amazing and delicious. Fresh ingredients and layers of flavor in everything. There's parking out front with meters. Indoor and outdoor seating. They take cash or card. Walk around the water front nearby if you get a chance. Stop by if you're in the area!

They have some picnic tables outside, inside is very limited, and as busy as they were, we got lucky. And they were busy! The line moved pretty fast, but with online orders, there was a bit of a wait. Their menu is short and focused. Panini sandwiches, wraps, salad, a soup of the day. I ordered The Millionaire Turkey. It was fantastic, maybe one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Real turkey, not lunch meat, the right sized slices, perfectly paired with just the right amount of garlic aioli and bacon jam. Served with chips and their equally good dill dip (is dill the ingredient of 2026 or just a TC thing?). While my sandwich deserves all the stars, my friends Caesar wrap, with added chicken, was a bit boring. It quickly fell apart. We also felt the soup, cheddar broccoli, was only fine. We were checked on by a woman who was either a manager or owner to make sure we were content. I will absolutely be returning for that sandwich!

This is a great lunch, salad, and or soup spot. It's counter service with self serve drinks. They do deliver the food to your table. We came on Thursday around 12:20 PM and it wasn't too busy. There is a great selection of sandwiches, including a vegan option. They also have an assortment of gluten-free products. We had the Horsin' Around roast beef sandwich, which came with Great Lakes potato chips, the Hummust Have wrap, which also came with chips. We ordered a bowl of the cream of mushroom soup, a cup of the tomato, basil soup, a coffee and soda. All were delicious. The hummus sandwich was more like a Greek salad in a wrap minus the cheese. I would've liked more hummus but then that would make a messy sandwich. The roast beef sandwich had a great flavor. The cream of mushroom soup was full of mushrooms and just needed a little salt for our liking. The tomato basil soup was good, but it tasted more like tomato sauce, heavy on the oregano for me. But again that's personal opinion. Customer service was excellent, the dining room and bathroom were both very clean. Lunch was a bit expensive at $40ish before tax and tip. We will be back. Make sure you stop in for breakfast or lunch when you're in the area!
