The Chicken broth for the matzah ball soup needed a little bit more robust flavor it was a little watery but otherwise good. The latkes were perfect and delicious! The tri-tip sandwich was flavorful, the potato salad needed salt, but was still tasty. The pastrami reuben was solid as well. Overall a tasty and great addition to Red Hill! read more

We had a delicious dinner at Bubbala's! We ordered the Reuben, the tuna sandwich and the egg salad sandwich. We also ordered a matzo ball soup. The sandwiches were all traditional masterpieces- everything you would expect those items to taste like if you could imagine the yummiest traditional version. Potato salad is a must try! The matzo ball soup is the best version I've had at a restaurant, with the carrots and celery having the perfect bite and texture and fresh dill adding a nice flavor to the savory broth. The owner was so nice and chatted with us a bit- even bringing complimentary fries with a yummy spicy sauce to our table to try! We will be back! read more

Grew up in New York with many Jewish delis. Tried Bubbala's today and had the pastrami sandwich with coleslaw and a pickle. The pastrami was cut thick like I like it, the slaw was not too sweet and the pickle had a perfect sour. Truly, brought me back 60 years and was just like what my grandma served. The service was genuinely warm and inviting. Will have the Ruben next week! read more

I decided to give Bubbala's another try. I ordered the pastrami sandwich and the meat tasted more like corned beef with no pastrami taste. It was either overcooked or just old. Everything was so bland. We ordered a staff meeting lunch from here with pastrami sandwiches, corned beef sandwiches, and matzo ball soup. The consensus was that everything was bland bland bland. I personally found the pastrami to be very dry also. As another reviewer pointed out, the rye bread is basically grocery store rye similar to Orowheat. Thin and soft. Being in the Bay Area for 30 years I thought I'd had the best of the best especially when it comes to Rueben sandwich's but I was reminded by Greg yesterday to always keep an open mind. We were excited to try a new deli, but we both were quite disappointed with our corned beef sandwiches. The meat was not in slices, but more like corned beef hash and refused to stay on the rye bread. There was too little mustard on the sandwich and no condiments on the tables (not even salt and pepper which the potato salad desperately needed). We asked for salt and the adjacent tables both asked to borrow it, so it wasn't just us. I hope the place will mature into a better option for classic foods of The Tribe. read more

The place had great reviews on Nextdoor, I thought I'd give nextdoor a try. Turns out if you want honest reviews, Yelp is the only one that works. The place is new as in it just moved from another place where it lost the lease so right now it is a hot mess. It might clear up, but they are short staffed. My order was for a Pastrami sandwich with Rye, by 12:30 they were out of Rye. Fine multi-grain. Usually with Jewish Deli pastrami you get enough for 2 people and you can take some home to eat for dinner. The amount you get is enough for one not hungry Marinite. The lady next to me had her order made wrong 3 times, by the third time she was losing it. Nothing less appealing in life than seeing an older lazy Justine it out {karen}. Oh and they have 2 menus, the menus are at the checkout so everyone goes in, stands for a few minutes, then goes to the front says excuse me, picks up the wrong menu, then tries to order breakfast stuff even though it is lunch, then some more wait. Just put a box with 1 menu at the door. I'd probably recommend like Gordon Ramsay to cut the menu in half till you get the staff trained. The owner is super nice, so I'll wait a few more months and try it again. Hopefully things have settled down. read more

This is the real thing, with matzo ball soup that's better than what I can make myself, and whitefish salad that's fresh and just like you'd find in a NY appetizing deli. Bubbala's is hands down the best Jewish deli in Marin and the SF Bay Area! The owner, Greg, makes you feel like family and the food is just mouth watering delicious. Cannot wait to come back. Some of the best food I've ever had in my life. The owners are super cool. And make some of the best food as I said I've ever had in my life. They're matzo ball soup is where I think any Jewish super heroes potentially derived their power from. It's delicious! We really need a good Jewish deli, but this does not come close. Was hoping for some resemblance to Katz's, Carnegie, or even Max's. First off, the sandwich is not served on good house made or bakery made rye. It's ordinary store-bought sandwich bread - Orowheat. For the price paid, you would expect a reasonably good-sized sandwich piled high, but it was quite small. The pastrami itself was good quality. The cole slaw did not seem fresh, was soggy. Pickles were nothing special. No mustards were out, or at least we did not see any. We paid quite a bit for two and did not feel that it was worth it. Sorry to say, but we were disappointed. People giving it 5 star have no idea what good really is. Hate to give a bad review for a small business, but maybe they can turn things around improve with the feedback. read more

Had a Turkey sandwich that had absolutely no flavor. The coleslaw was meh. Service was awful. No napkins or silverware came with the food. The server (teen) didn't know what table ordered the sandwich. We asked for silverware/napkins and the server brought silverware for one. There as no flavor to anything. You truly need to season the food even just some salt and pepper. And the service is odd, owners kid and although he tries it's a kid and we couldn't even get place settings for 3 he brought for 2. So this place just opened and I have been eagerly awaiting the chance to eat here. The staff are still getting their sea legs but I have faith that will work itself out. The food is a mixed bag. I had a slice of Apple Pie that was delicious. The hot pastrami sandwich has potential and is the reason I'm writing the review. For an $18 sandwich at a Jewish deli I am expecting about 50% more bread and about 20-30% more meat. I want moist steam coming off the sandwich. I want some actual mustard, not an ever so slight grazing of the bread with a knife that was slightly covered with mustard. I want a full pickle, not half of a tiny pickle. For $18 this should be a sandwich that I can't finish and that I could maybe split with someone if I'm not starving. I hope the owners take this to heart because the value isn't there. I heard it through the grapevine that a new Jewish NY style deli has opened in Marin. We ventured out the San Anselmo in search of this hidden gem. Unfortunately our trip turned out to be a disappointment. You order at the counter. The young man at the counter taking the order evidently had never been in a Jewish deli in his life and his assistant wouldn't know a Pastrami sandwich from a ham and cheese on white bread with Mayo. First item was a Pastrami on Rye only to be told that they were out of Pastrami so we switched to Corned beef on Rye. Their definition of Rye was a supermarket store brand of Rye Bread that did not look or taste like Rye Bread. Their definition meat on the sandwich was a minuscule amount of meat that definitely didn't resemble any Corned beef I've ever had before. Next try was Matzo Ball soup only to be informed that they were out of Matzo Ball soup. Next up was a Kasha Knish and a Potato Knish, what we were served was a facsimile of a Potato Knish and the Kasha Knish was a potato knish with broccoli. Both Knish were small in size, tasteless and overpriced. BTW Jewish delis don't serve French's Yellow Mustard. I know they have Gulden's in Marin. Summary: Overpriced, Underserved and improve your product. Time to regroup, reorganize and hire some people who are more familiar with the line of product being offered. Plus readjust your business plan, or take a trip to a Deli in LA, NY, Boca, Chicago, Denver or Montreal. I will return when I hear through the grapevine that things have improved. read more
