I must have my ears cleaned or should have followed closely to my fellow helpers. I was told this place had good wings; in fact they are known for them. Just wanted to meet a girlfriend for wings and beer. We normally go to more upscale places but we are searching for a relaxed place we can go often and is halfway between our homes. I went in with a lot of hope. It took me 10 min from Five Forks on a Friday night. I had a great beer that the waitress recommended. We ordered fried mushrooms and each an order of wings. The mushrooms were obviously frozen and tasted as such. The wings were just not good. Probably frozen as well then cooked and lightly tossed in sauce. *side note: the menu lists a variety of ways the wings may be cooked, but the waitress said there's only one way which led me to believe they were not hand breaded because some seemed breaded while others did not. I did not ask this though. Fatal flaw. Is it possible for something to taste over cooked and under cooked at the same time? Also not much sauce on them. * The atmosphere was friendly and it's steadily busy but not crowded at all. I liked our waitress although she could have been a little less pushy for us to wrap up our tab. Perhaps she was leaving since it was almost 10 pm. We were in town on business and some of the guys recommended that we go here for lunch. I am glad that we did. I was one of those spots that shined. I watched what others were eating, and then asked the locals what is the best thing to order and what to stay away from. That is usually the best thing to do. Often they can say "the X is never quite right, but man you really have to try Y" They were right, I cannot recall exactly what I ate however it was top notch. I was glad I listened to them. While the smoking inside the bar/restaurant is a turnoff for me, it seems like it's a local fav bar. It should be, their wings are to die for. Fresh off a plane at GSP, I had the hankerin' for some BBQ when I drove by and smelled the wood burning. Interesting set-up. Doesn't know if it wants to be a bar or a restaurant. Leaning towards a bar with this one. If I could take the bar at Carolina Ale House and double it, this is what the place consists of. Woody interior with mostly high tops and some booths along the perimeter. I ordered the BBQ plate with fresh steamed veggies and baked potato. It arrived In a reasonable time so I was ready to dive in. Firstly, the veggies were not fresh steamed. They were "fresh out the freezer, fresh in the microwave, fresh to the plate". They were very tasteless. Also, I found a black hair in the veggies. This doesn't generally gross me out, and the veggies were a loss anyway. Secondly, The BBQ had great smoke flavor, but was dry. The baked potato was overlooked and dry. The servers all seemed like they were in a bad mood and looked like they just busted out of Rikers and hitched with the nearest long haul trucker; rough looking bunch. Of course, if I caught a case and ended up in the Penn, I wouldn't be happy either. So much for southern hospitality! I wasn't a fan and will not be back. It was actually pretty damn expensive, too. Four of us had dinner and drinks Thursday evening. It was crowded but we sat and enjoyed beverages and ordered food later - and our waitress was great about it. We all had their meat and 3 - and it could not have been better. Very generous portions and great choices - fried okra, chicken fried steak, cube steak, mac and cheese, fresh collards, green beans, pinto beans, cornbread, ,etc. etc. All is made mornings in their kitchens - waitress was awesome!! We had a really fun time with friends and ate til we couldn't hold any more - and took boxes home. Can't wait to go back - and we will - soon! read more

I give this place a solid 3 stars because the food is good. Just to be clear, it is bar food, but it is good bar food. It costs about $2 per order higher than it would cost to get a similar meal someplace else (most entrees are about $10), and that is the main reason I didn't give it 4 stars. However, paying cash qualifies for a 20% discount, which makes for a decent price or a generous tip. We went after work on a Friday, and the parking lot was packed. Nonetheless, many people were standing so we had no trouble finding a table. Service was prompt and the wait was no more than 5 minutes or so until our order arrived. I had the chicken strips and fries; my wife had the chicken Philly cheese and onion petals. The petals were surprisingly good - basically, onion rings that were not rings, but rather shaped like - well, petals. The place is busy and loud, so it's not a romantic getaway spot. But if you are looking for a party-like atmosphere, this is a great spot. And it also has lots of TV's for viewing sports. read more

I really enjoyed it tonight. The trivia was fun but loud. It was fun. I had a grilled chicken wrap with handmade chips, spicy ranch in the side. Turned out I liked the chips better than the wrap. It was good, but I'll try something different next time. Also big enough to split with someone. I was able to eat about three fourths of it. It tasted like a burger for some reason. The Mr got a beautiful sandwich, BLT I think it was, huge! He couldn't eat it all. Again it was loud so I couldn't hear the exact sandwich. The teen had a burger with onion peels and an order of fried mushrooms. Fresh lettuce and tomatoes. None of the slithery stuff or green tomatoe centers. I'm picky about ranch. Their spicy ranch was addictive! We all enjoyed the sides of fries, onion peels and chips together and had more than enough food. It was sad seating ourself and getting service was slow. Thank goodness they had the Brewers on the TV. The Mr was happy. The teen and I agree we'll be going back. It really was fun but had some bumps. Getting there via google maps GPS was a joke, we drove in circles around the place creating a sour mood. Thankfully it didn't last long. Good pub grub. Shared some apps--Irish nachos,buffalo shrimp w/ blue cheese, and chips & queso-- and dinner salad, which was large and fresh. I liked the buffalo shrimp the best. My son and I enjoyed dinner at Bubba Annie's last night. He had the wings, particularly liked the Ranchagotcha (don't know if I spelled that right) sauce. I had the bacon cheeseburger. Waitress said I could go half and half on the fries and onion petals, nice option. Had a little bit of both. Taste buds liked the meal, waste band won't. The sweet tea was pretty good...that's where I start. Then we had some wings which were actually the highlight of the meal. I had a meat-and-three with fried chicken, deviled eggs, mac and cheese, and other side items, while my wife had a vegetable plate. The food was frozen or canned..bland, non-offensive, but nothing stood out at all. The restaurant was covered in televisions which, unfortunately, could not have the channel changed (my wife had to watch wrestling while we dined and I saw an infomercial. Both daughter and I shared a plate of the "Nacho Mountain" and are both now experiencing aliens within our bodies. Used to be a great little bar/restaurant but the food quality has greatly declined. Barely any chili on the nachos, half of the packaged shredded cheese wasn't melted, salsa was still a little frozen from being in the freezer, and the tomatoes had the consistency of wet toilet paper.
