We stopped in Bub City when in the area and I'm glad we did. It wasn't crowded on a Saturday afternoon and given the large size of the restaurant it seemed they had space for big crowds when needed. Two of us shared the ribs & chicken wing combo plate and added a side of broccolini. Everything was tasty. The ribs were nicely sauced and tender without falling off the bone. The wings were tender, smoky and accompanied by a delicious lightning sauce. We were told the sauce was a like ranch dressing with vinegar. I even put it on a rib! The coleslaw was good and a little creamier than most. The broccolini was grilled with cipollini onions and lemon. It was a fresh addition to the savory meats. The price were a little higher than might be expected but the food was delicious. We'll return to try more of the selection. read more

I was here on a Friday evening to have one drink before I headed back downtown. I came and the bartender was hovering before I could sit down. I finally sat down and he didn't offer me a menu so I just decided to go to their website and look it up. When he spoke to me, I told him I needed to look over the menu to decide what I wanted to drink but if I could start with water. He gave me water and he walked away to tend to other guests, I figured out what I wanted quickly and waited patiently for him to come back. While he was at the opposite side of the bar for a while busy, a few new people came to the bar. One man next to me kept leaning over and was asking the bartender for a drink while he was still taking care of someone else. I thought if I waited patiently for him to be done with his current transaction (bartender etiquette) he would double back to me because after waiting 15 minutes, I was clearly ready now. I also had my card in my hand because of the man with the money in his hand next to me. I did not want to be forgotten by accident. Just when I thought the bartender was going to come over to me who was patiently waiting and who was next, he went to the man next to me holding the cash and who yelled out to him. I then said hey, excuse me, i'm ready now and was here first, can you take my order first? I asked politely because as a bartender myself for over a decade I know how annoying that can be. TELL ME WHY this bartender wearing the bub city black cap, an earpiece, and white/black checkered shirt waived me off in annoyance and gave me a face. Now i'm taken aback by his rudeness and on the defensive. So I asked him again why would he skip me if I here first? He literally YELLED at me and said I said that I was looking at the menu. I told him "yes... 15 minutes ago, I am clearly ready now." He APOLOGIZES the man who was waving money next to me and then gets the beer I asked for. He gave me the wrong order and didn't give me the added grenadine as requested. So I politely asked for him to add it. He SIGHS and looks pissed and while he's pouring the grenadine apologizes again to the man who cut me who was next to me. apologizing to him fkr what??? I should be the one receiving an apology. Mind you while he was pouring the beer, the man next to me apologized on the bartenders behalf and said I could go before him. When the guy comes back and while he's pouring my grenadine into my drink, I asked him why he would apologize to the man (to antagonize me- and this was a genuine question) and he starts SCREAMING IN MY FACE again in front of all these people and then tells me i'm cut off. Why this ridiculous and unprofessional rude bartender would yell at me, try to embarrass me in front of a whole bar, for HIS mistakes and incompetencies was disgusting. i'm not sure if this was racial or what. but i was very uncomfortable and taken aback as i've been to bub city before, I even worked for them as a temp for windy city smoke out years back and never had such NASTY service at either the river north or rosemont location. If I would have behaved this way with a sober and guest who was initially polite I would be fired. I asked to speak to the GM and when i tell you this man took his sweet time to tell him I needed him even though he was standing at the end of the bar the whole time. The GM while nice and tried to see if I wanted to move to another part of the bar to be more comfortable, only just gave me the beer I ordered. When I asked if I could at least have a shot at least for what happened and now at this point having to wait over 30 minutes, he only just resurfaced with the beer I had ordered. I wish he had done a little more, but I am appreciate for my drink. He also had the female bartender be the one to check on me the rest of the night since I was not comfortable with the male. But I never saw him take the bartender to the side in private to talk to him or reprimand him in any way. The whole thing just felt like it wasn't taken that serious. I chose this place to celebrate my daughter's 30th birthday. The server was amazing. He was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. However, the food was less than what we expected especially since I paid over $45 for each guest for a party of 18. The 18 hour smoked beef brisket was brought to us in tiny cubes in a small bowl. Looking to mix things up from the usual routine of ramen, sushi burritos, and popcorn (Nichole C insists that a bag of Pop Secret constitutes as a meal), my fiancée and I found ourselves in the mood for some barbecue Americana on 11/20/19. I've been to Bub City's joint downtown and this location once each. It's pretty easy to find, across from the Haufbrauhaus and next to Joe's Live in the entertainment district. When we visited in late November, their entry corridor was lined with festive colored lights and christmas stuff was hanging from the ceiling. After an ice-cold reception from the hostess, we got seated at a hightop near the bar. Bub City boasts an impressive whiskey list, though we didn't partake. She enjoyed the pomegranate margarita ($12), a vibrant cocktail of which she happily ordered a second one. My Kentucky Mule ($12) was made with ginger beer, lime, and bourbon instead of the typical vodka. It was strong; I stuck with a single drink. Their BBQ nachos ($12) are fantastic. A heaping mound of homemade chips come topped with queso, sour cream, jalapenos, a dusting of BBQ spice, and your choice of either smoked brisket or pulled pork. These were hands-down the best nachos we've had in some time, 10/10 would order again. Nichole C gave two thumbs up to the baby back mac ($13), a cast iron skillet of cheesy shells topped with rib meat. The portion of actual meat was anemic, but it tasted great. The 3 meat plate ($33) was daunting in size. I chose the baby back ribs, hickory smoked wings and hot link, with Texas pit beans and corn off the cob as my sides. It came on a massive tray with a delicious cornbread muffin, coleslaw, AMAZING pimento cheese spread & crackers, plus bread 'n butter pickles, spicy carrots, jalapenos and pickled onions. I was too full to appreciate the banana pudding ($5), which came with whipped cream and vanilla wafers. Our server must've not wanted us to order dessert, since she gave us the check prematurely, as if to say "my shift is ending, kindly get the f*ck out of here". Hey lady, we weren't finished yet! Bread = 4.5 Circuses = 3 Did I mention that this place is totally country? You'll get a heaping earful of Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean, and Reba McEntire (probably some Tay-Tay in the mix, too) while you dine here. Take note that the music's cranked up louder than at most places. If that's not your scene, mosy on along, cowpoke. My baby back ribs were initially forgotten, but our server Fiona quickly corrected that. She took adequate care of us throughout dinner, but as a Lettuce Entertain You restaurant, I expected a little more attentiveness from the staff. Our interactions with the seater/hostess was horrible. Forget "resting b*tch face", this standoffish gal was in "active b*tch mode". Ignored when we walked in, I had to do the whole throat-clearing thing just to get her to look up. Arms crossed, she avoided eye contact as she walked us to the table, threw down the menus, and vanished. Dang! * TL;DR * Let's put aside the fact that country music is one of the most divisive genres out there (the people that hate it *really* hate it, and the people that love it REALLY love it). Everyone can agree on great food and strong drinks, both things that Bub City's got plenty of. Holiday decor made an enjoyable dinner even better; the only thing missing was a Brooks & Dunn cover of "Jingle Bells" being played in the background. Hopefully that #meangirl was relieved of her front-of-house job at the hostess stand and moved elsewhere, or giving retraining. Remember to get your parking sticker validated before leaving. Came here on a Saturday night early dinner with family. We made reservations to prepare. Parking option here is only in the garage for the entire complex and is free if you get it stamped at the resto. Otherwise it's $15. We were seated quickly and were helped by a very nice lady. Then all of a sudden the server changed and the new man who came to the table didn't introduce himself, didn't greet or do basic niceties. His first words were, "I'll be your sever do you know what you want to order?" That was the beginning of the decline of the evening. Food came out quickly and hot. Portions are extremely small and barely shareable. We were not offered the option of dry or wet and when we asked if what we ordered was going to be enough he said yes. We had to order an additional entree after our food arrived for three people bc it was so small and not enough. We barely got refills and had to ask, refills provided were not correct, and the server made no attempt to be friendly. This place is overrated and another Lettuce disappointment. I went there for dinner last night with the whole family. We originally had two reservations for two tables, but when I called in, they said they could combine all of us as a party of 11. However, they forgot to include the three high chairs in the new reservation so they gave us seating that was raised and half booth. Us being flexible was able to make it work, but if any other the kids were infant (like under 1), it might have not been acceptable. The table grew on us so it ended up being fine! As for the food, it pretty much all BBQ and the like. They say they run out of items, but one of the weird ones was them being out of ribs while we were there. Somebody in our group got the last rack, but running out of ribs at 5:30? That seems a little off. We got the chips with guac and pimento cheese as an appetizer. It was really good, but the dips were kind of in small cups. We got a second one just in case which worked out well. The tots were surprisingly good! I am not a tots fan, but this was excellent. For dinner, I went with the special brisket burrito which was awesome and spicy! The only downside was that it was $14 and did not come with any sides (hello chips!) I also got their fancier Old Fashioned which was probably one of the best I have ever had. Not a surprise that this place does well with its liquor. I also tried my mom's sangria which was also excellent. While the prices are a little high, the food was all great! The tots were certainly the best deal along with the drinks. We continually were asking our waiter where we were so we would be sure to meet it. Easily my favorite bar around Parkway Bank Park. The place has such a fun country atmosphere, with karaoke on Tuesday nights, and everyone is just so friendly here. The food is pretty good, especially the wings and tater tots, but my favorite part is the drink menu AND the outdoor patio upstairs. This is a clean location, unless someone throws up cuz their drunk HA. I love this place because the right people come in here. I'm a HUGE country fan, and this place doesn't play much hip hop or rap like Adobe, so A+ for me. It's just more my style here than most places in Rosemont. It is a classier version of Toby Keith's that was once at this location. One downfall, like everyone's in Rosemont, is that the prices are pretty expensive for food here. The food was ok..... typical pub food I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was what I would expect. Not bad but not great. The thing that really turned me off was my service. I was one of 4 people at the bar and the bar staff was more concerned with one patron than the rest of us. Myself and the gentleman next to me left because of this.
