Wow. Stopped in sorta by accident, grabbed a lunch very late and I am so glad I did. Ordered the Cali burger and it was outstanding. Cooked to perfection, patties were hot and juicy but not greasy, bun was fresh, lettuce was crisp. I'd rate it 10/10! The hot and crispy waffle fries that accompanied were tasty too. We've been here before but not in a while so we decided to try it on Wednesday. We ordered two glasses of red wine and had to send it back. It was old and smelled like vinegar. They replaced both glasses with no problem. Then we ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a beef brisket sandwich and both were not very warm. We sent them back to be warmed up and they brought two new sandwiches on cold buns. They still were not warm enough and the brisket had a lot of fat in it. Great deal if your on the hungry side and easily could split this between two peeps. I ended up ordering their burnt ends brisket hashbrown for $7 with the fried eggs on top for an extra $2. All in all, I have to say their food is rich, heavy, and delicious and will definitely cure any sort of hangover you may have acquired from the night before. I also have to say their build your own bloody is quite the experience in itself. For $12, you get one trip to their dedicated bloody bar where you pick your poison (choice of select vodkas or whiskey), bloody mix, and all the condiments you can assembly and stack within the cup with in one trip. They got everything from spices, pickles, jerky sticks, assorted cheese, deviled eggs, mini grilled cheese sandwiches, veggies, and mini bottled high life beers. Top notch bloody bar in my opinion. If you're looking for some decent BBQ with some karaoke, Bub City is the place to be, bub. Rolling 8-deep on a Tuesday night, we were able to snag a table near the front for a good view of aspiring singers karaoking the night away. We ordered several appetizers: Fried pickles -- decent General Joe's Buffalo bites -- the best! BBQ Nachos -- choice of protein, we got chicken. It was pretty good as well For my entree, I got the brisket, choice of fatty or lean, and I went with fatty, cuz when the holidays are here, I'm a fatty. Even asking for fatty, I got a couple of lean pieces, and I have to say, I'm so happy I went with the fatty pieces, as they were so much better. Dish included cole slaw (decent) and a slice of white bread, so width of texas toast. Some peeps got tots on the side, and they were OK. Beer selection was good, I ended up with a couple of left-hand stouts, cuz I'm a lefty. Service was really good -- they took note and accommodated my tree nut allergy. They were also very prompt and accurate. We got our appetizers and food pretty quickly. If you like karaoke, this place offers a live band to back up your Grammy-worthy vocals. Some could sing, others needed the help of their backup vocalists. In either case, every one had a good time. Overall vibe of this place was "country", although our karaoke crooner that we came with went with Montell Jordan's "This is how we do it" (and he definitely did it). BATHROOM REVIEW: Located rather far; you had to go down a hallway, down stairs to the basement, and further down the hall. The bathrooms had several urinals and two stalls. The stalls were nice and secure as the stall door was ceiling-to-floor. We had a reservation for 12 of the nurses at a conference here in Chicago. I was never so insulted in my life. We dropped over $600 dollars between all of us for food and drinks. A few of the nurses ordered dessert and were in the middle of their dessert. In addition, two of us had a cocktail in front of us, the hostess came up to our table and asked us to give up our table. The place was empty, so it was easy to appreciate the rustic country western decor, which along with the music gives the feel of being in Nashville's Broadway st. TV screens can be seen from anywhere, this let's customers know that this is a sport bar as well. I ordered from the lunch menu: A pulled pork sandwich, (which comes with 3 side dishes of your choice, from a list of 18) with cucumber-tomato salad, corn off the cob, & fresh fruit. The flavors were good, the portions generous, and the service friendly. Even though the place was virtually empty, (3 people at the bar & 2 at a table when we arrived) the waitress forgot one of our drinks; I should mention here she was also the bartender. I can excuse any waiter for such a minor mistake, but what is inexcusable is for a business, the size of Bub City, to be so understaffed and have a bartender doing double duty  as a waitress. I had a really good time at Bub City! I went here on a Thursday night to attend a small private party. The restaurant was packed and they had a live country band playing so it was a major party atmosphere. I had a chance to try the chicken tenders, Mac and Cheese, Tatar Tot's, Brisket sandwiches, etc. It was all junk food and delicious! The drinks were just as tasty. I ordered 2 skinny Margaritas, which were low sugar and really good. I also had a frozen Rose which was tasty, but really sweet. The waitress was awesome and had a great attitude. Prepare to feel like you left Chicago and walked into Nashville. I felt a little out of place...it was a full house but not full enough to have to wait for seating. Loud for sure and the dim lights win me over every time. Christmas decor vibes and a whole lot of country too. We got seated at the very entrance, and I actually did not have to use the restrooms at any moment, my view was quite constrained but overall I mainly went in to eat and out the door. At first I was a little nervous that I was going to have a bad experience because our waitress took a while to greet us. However once she did, things moved pretty fast and I was content with the service overall. Although the menu isn't huge, it all sounded too good and was hard to pick. We went with the two meat platter which I was quite disappointed. I saw reviews of what seemed to be a lot of food, and based on what is listed that the platter comes with I had no doubt the two meat would be enough for 2 semi hungry people. I was wrong....The portions overall from the meat to the sides is/was disappointing. On one end, I probably should be happy because that means no overeating, but hey we had an appetite. One corn bread for 2 people is not what I had in mind. 2 spoon fulls of your sides and meat servings. Granted the platter say's sampler but in other places that actually means a lot of food. I hate that I assumed. Grrr. Hey lesson learned for next time. The Mac & Cheese is considered a side option. Food was all great, the taste was there. No complaints. +.5 for service I ate here with some friends after Pokémon GO Fest as some locals recommended here for BBQ. I've had Kansas City BBQ but not Texas-style, so I was wondering if I'd experience it here. The brisket caught my attention initially, however the server (who was wonderful) mentioned that they were out of brisket that night. I went with the pork shoulder instead after deciding for a long time between BBQ and fried chicken. The pork shoulder was...okay I guess, there was taste to it but it wasn't anything juicy at all. Meanwhile my friends who had fried chicken all loved it. I suppose I made the wrong choice here, even though I really wanted to try the brisket. If you're looking for a country western bar with late night live entertainment that happens to serve BBQ, then you'd probably like this place. I was looking for good BBQ food at lunch, and was a bit disappointed. The problem is partly pricing and partly interpretation. It's true that you can get a meat and three sides at lunch for about $18, which seems steep, but is probably the way to go. But I wanted burnt ends, and they aren't one of the meat choices on that deal. So for a bit more I got the burnt ends. Burnt ends are the charred tips of the beef, and since they are the outside they have the most flavor. At least that's what burnt ends are supposed to be. In all fairness, Bub City describes them on the menu as the "bacon of beef" whatever that might mean. In fact, they were more like the pork belly of beef--large cubes of layered fat and beef, served in an iron skillet with a thin sauce. The result was a fatty, succulent dish that wasn't bad, but wasn't like any burnt ends I ever had. What do you think Texas Toast is? A thick piece of bread, maybe with some butter and garlic, cooked on a griddle, right? Nope. Not at Bub City. It's just a piece of bread. I assumed it was a mistake, so I even asked the waiter. Nope, a completely plain raw piece of bread is Bub City's Texas Toast. What makes it "toast"? I also received a tiny serving of very good cole slaw and three sweet pickle chips. No other sides came with the almost $20 meal. On the other hand, Bub City is true to the country theme, with three different BBQ sauces on the table that are all Southern Style and quite good. If you're looking for country western music atmosphere, Bub CIty is a good choice. If you're looking for BBQ, there are better choices in the area. read more

If I was ever in the mood to sing country karaoke (badly) it would be after eating here. Literally best playlist downtown. Big space with high tops, low tops, patio seating and booths. The tables were a little close together, which made maneuvering to get to the restroom a little tricky. With that being said, as Texas tradition, all entrees were served on metal trays - you get 4 of those on a 4 top and there doesn't leave a lot of room for anything else. Menu was pretty Texas BBQ standard; sausage, brisket, pork, chicken, ribs , mac and cheese, cornbread - you get the idea. Prices were pretty on par with downtown. Signature cocktail menu was legit and most had the option to be served in a pitcher! And HOLY WHISKEY MENU BATMAN. What made our experience though, was our server. I am a jerk and totally forgot her name, but she was fantastic. Super friendly, gave great suggestions and was really fun. She seemed to really like working there - so she's either an awesome actress, or this really is a good place to work. Fun fact, there is a dude mannequin in the ladies restroom. Popped in here for a drink with a great friend after work on a Wednesday around 5:30 and got seated without any wait. The host had a big smile and our waitress was so sweet and attentive. We hadn't caught up in awhile so she was very patient with our ordering. :) I started with a moscow muel and they topped it with the perfect amount of fresh mint. It was so refreshing I didn't want it to end! Note: they have a giant moscow muel available for you to share with up to 6 people!! She asked me if I wanted the giant one and we laughed, obviously. To eat I got the grilled chicken sandwich with chipotle mayo and substituted the house chips for waffles fries-easiest decision ever. I've had a bunch of grilled chicken sandwiches and this one topped them all. It was juicy with the perfect charred crisp on the outside and the chipotle mayo complimented it so amazingly well. I even dipped my fries in the rest of it- TOO GOOD! They had a giant American flag beer can theme set up behind the main bar and string lights across the entire ceiling that trailed out to the patio also. It was 70 degrees when we went so they had the windows open by the booths and it felt so great. A friend of mine introduced me to this place 5 years ago when he generously bought a whole Thanksgiving dinner to go for my family. The food was so outstanding that to this day we order from them for our Thanksgiving meal! This year we ordered from them and when we got home I noticed that they didn't pack us the chocolate peanut butter pie so I called them up to work it out. The manager was SO top notch that he drove all the way to my house to personally deliver it to me. I certainly wasn't expecting that but I think it speaks volumes for the type of people who work there. They are wonderful people, the food is amazing, and you should definitely go there. read more

Stopped here for lunch recently. Walking into Bub City is like walking into a southern barbeque Restaurant in Tennessee. The decor and the music is definitely country western. They also have sports on big screens so if you just want to come in for a beer they have a large Choice while you watch your favorite sports team. We opted for the Meat and three which is served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday through Friday. It's actually a really great deal, you get your sandwich plus your choice of three sides. It also includes your choice of a soft drink, sweet tea, or LA Colombe a coffee. All this for $16.95. I had the chopped brisket sandwich with the simple green salad fresh fruits and corn off the cob. My companion got the pulled pork sandwich along with the same three sides. Both sandwiches are really good and they actually have enough sauce for us that we did not have to add anything to them. The salad was very good and fresh, the fruit consisted of blueberries, strawberries and pineapple, and the corn off the cob was my favorite because it also had cheese sprinkled on top and Seasonings. I would have given them five stars, however, our waitress who I believe was also the bartender, forgot about my sweet tea and I had to remind her about it, which is not great considering there was only one other customer in the place at the time. However, if she was doing double duty as a waitress and a bartender at the time maybe she was just concentrating on the drinks for that one customer. In the evenings they have live music. I had just gotten into Chicago and after realizing my hotel didn't have room service I went for a walk. It was late enough that a lot of the restaurants in the area had closed for the evening and as I kept walking I was drawn towards the live music. When I realized I could sit on the patio and get something to eat, I grabbed a seat and put an order in for nachos. The restaurant was PACKED with people dancing and singing along to some amazingly awful country covers and early 2000's pop songs. I really recommend sitting outside if you have the option. It was such a trip to people watch as folks would walk by, pause and momentarily get sucked into the music. I also recommend the nachos. Recently stopped into Bub City for a late lunch. I was able to be seated right away by the hostess. There were plenty of tables available. Micah T, server, had greeted me shortly. Since I know the menu, I knew what I had wanted plus you can never go wrong with the 1 Meat and 3 Sides meal. I had opted for Salmon for the meat option. For my sides, Mac N' Cheese, Tatar Tots and Fresh Fruit. Within 12 minutes, my meal was delivered. The meal took a little longer since I had requested the Salmon to be well done. Love coming here for the music, the food, and the service. However, the past few times people have been vaping inside the bar areas. When this was pointed out to the staff, they asked the people to stop. When the show began and the vaping continued, directly in front of staff, nothing was done. Nothing on the pit master plate wowed me it was all very bland. Now the reason for my review. In the short .4 mile walk home my stomach went straight to knots. I threw up on the way home and then once I got home I spent the night alternating between throwing up and diarrhea. I found this place during COVID and it has been pretty consistent as far as delivery goes The buffalo chicken bites are really good for an appetizer and I get it each and every time I order! The fried pickles are okay, not the best but also cooked well. The mac n cheese is VERY creamy and easily shared, so I will suggest this for parties of 2-3 if you want to get the most bang for your buck. For entrees, I've stuck to their chicken more than BBQ and it never is disappointing. I have had a few orders tho that came with VERY small portions of fried chicken. All in all, this place has solid food. It isn't WOW but also it hits the spot each time I eat here. I do not think it's worth the amount that they are charging for their food, however. Orders get expensive fast and you can easily rack up your bill on what is such a small amount of food. Transitioned to this restaurant upon being overcharged for two mai tais, $50, for two drinks including a $3 tip, at 3 Dots and a Dash - another LEYE establishment. The online menu indicated "future mai tais: $15." There was clearly a discrepancy in pricing. Upon entering Bub City at 7:30 pm, we were advised that the table was available until 9:30 pm. My friend and I ordered the brisket, waffle fries, and 2 margaritas. My friend indicated that she felt nauseous upon consuming the brisket. She was approached by a young, blonde waitress in the washroom, who appeared to be concerned. We were then urged by same waitress to leave at 8:30 pm, an hour before we were originally informed. My friend was not visibly ill at the table, and we did not draw any negative attention to our table. The waitress offered us a refund for one margarita, as we each only ordered one margarita. I did not get her name, otherwise I'd happily post it here. They removed plates from our table. Maybe LEYE should rename their establishment - Lettuce Entertain You...but only if you're WHITE. Otherwise, they were clearly trying to avoid any accountability for food contamination. I have never been treated as so disposable by any restaurant establishment. I am consistently polite and kind to all waitstaff. I spoke with the corporate office, who relayed my concerns to the general manager, but I have not received a call. I have discussed discriminatory action with my attorney - not just for the unjust treatment of my friend but the excessive charging that occurred at 3 Dots and a Dash. This was my second time at this restaurant because my friend, whom I visit in Chicago, absolutely loves it and I wish I could say the same. This experience we came for brunch and the restaurant was packed because there was a Mac and Cheese Bar crawl or something going on. We were still sat before our reservation time, so that was nice. While my friends ordered the regular bloody Mary's, I specifically ordered the build-your-own because I loved all the choices of garnishes! The waitress came back with 3 regular bloody Mary's and when I mentioned I ordered the BYO, she shrugged it off and was rude to me the rest of the dining experience acting like I was an inconvenience. She did not even try to fix her mistake. Also, the Bloody Mary mix is beyond spicy. Then I ordered the chicken fingers (which were so good and HUGE) with a side of tots. Guess who forgot my tots... same waitress. She didn't even ring them in. When I mentioned it, she brought them 10 minutes later and didn't apologize. Not a good experience at all and I am typically generous with my stars. There are so many great places to eat in Chicago so you'd think there would be competitive customer service attributes to the experience. read more
