Their Hojicha powder is grounded from Taiwan and I loved how the shop owner differentiated how the Hojicha tasted different between Japanese and Taiwanese tea leaves.

Now, the positives: the tea court itself is simply grand, with stunning decor that makes you feel like you've stepped back into a different era. The desserts looked like they came out of a buffet line. The petit fours which is my ultimate favorite thing was so sad. Seemed like they were frozen then set out to thaw and the coating just melted off and was soggy. So disappointed. The tea itself was good and the place settings were adorable. As for ambiance, they got rid of the cozy, cute couches which made it feel pretty sterile and uninviting. The lobby was cold and dark, however the live pianist was a nice touch but it did not feel lively in there. Lastly, parking was confusing. We didn't stay at the hotel but the sign clearly said $10 for up to 3 hours if you get validated at Rendezvous Court, yet the cashier still charged us $25.. uh? Overall it was a disappointment to say the least. The waiter hardly came by to refill our tea, a service I fondly remembered from the last visit that I appreciated added to the disappointment. There's barely any seating if there are groups who come and take up space; the entire space barely has any ventilation and they run incense sticks & aroma therapy, makign it extremely hard to breath after an hour. The air purifiers were on red the entire time, but not a single employee did anything, even when it was pointed out. All the shoes were off - which is great - but then you have a fire hazard right by the door because there's literally not enough shoe storage space, so shoes were all over the floor too. You're absolutely better off going to a small business coffee shop where there're pastries & drinks available, with more space & better ventilation.

If you're into real tea, the kind backed by thousands upon thousands of years of tradition, and craft, this is it. This is the real. Varieties that Imen (the big boss at Tea Habitat) has personally procured directly, live, from the source throughout mainland China. She basically found the best stuff on her tasting ventures, making it a pretty exclusive menu of teas that you're highly unlikely going to find anywhere else in southern California, or perhaps all of California and the entire nation. You need this. You want this. You want to have it so bad, you want to relive the lingering euphoria of getting tea drunk - green tea, white tea, oolong... from royal grade to high mountain grade, harvested from centuries old trees. If some the tea names sound a bit nasty or unappetizing, it's to deter people from stealing it; hence, you may actually pleasantly surprised by its fragrance and quality. Super suggest setting an appointment for tasting, where the choice is pretty open from the list. The more expensive grade stuff though, will cost extra for a premium tasting set. And you'll be able to taste first hand, side-by-side, why certain dishware, especially the gold-lined cups, have an impact on how much flavor carries through. Quite profound. You can easily spend around 2 hours maximizing the steep of each set of tea leaves, while chatting it up with your bestest best mates. -Logistical notes: The location isn't that apparent, from the sidewalk, walk directly south towards the residential building, past the initial businesses on the side. GRANADA (est. 2026) is a brand new coffee shop built as ADU in a private house. It's tucked in the middle of Angelino hts at Echo Park; finding the place will require some Geospatial navigation skill. I think setting-up a coffee business in your pvt dwelling is very LA thing. And this was my first ever visit to a coffee house which totally has different style from your typical cafe. I came Friday morning and people begin to arrive. I perused their succinct drink and pastry menu and was warmly greeted by a male white staff. I had a Flat White. It was perfectly made to my liking. Furthermore, their service was fast and prices were competitive. As for the atmosphere, it's very cozy with soft lighting, natural elements and personal items such as a black piano, music vinyl records, books etc. Similarly, you'll notice the open house space, marble countertop and robust wifi. Customers may find street parking a tad challenging but not impossible. I had no trouble finding a parking spot. Overall, I enjoyed my hot FW, their service and very relaxing backyard. I have to say thought going to get a coffee here and all of the sets is def NOT simple and def not easy and fast. The parking is really hit or miss. The line was out the door, and I'd expect it to continue to be like that every time I'd go, because no one in LA has anything to do except go to coffee shops like this and be seen. Total of about 25 minutes waiting in line. Since it was my first visit here it was totally ok. I got to speak to the owner and get a little bit of insight into his ambition for the place etc. how he came to the ideate start this place and where he sources his baked goods, coffee and machines. It was a good time spend. I found out there's a local bakery that he made a deal with and gets delivery of all of the baked goods, daily. I tried the blood orange ricotta cake ($10) but it was absolutely amazing. And I hated how good it was because I felt like I was going to have to come back just for that despite the absolute bother that it is. The coffee was really great too. Although the experience of ordering said coffee was really weird. I think I ordered 2 Cortados and the blood orange cake and when my coffee came it was only one. The barista said they only charged me of one so I paid for another and then afterwards I checked on my receipts and they had overcharged me. When I'd brought it up to that cashier She was certain she didn't. NBD just kind of annoying. I'll say this, if I lived closer, like in echo park and had a bicycle or electric scooter. I'd probably figure out the best time to go to avoid the lines and I'd make it my everyday spot but unfortunately there are just too many steps and inconveniences for me to get to this amazing place.
