This afternoon, I went to Granada Cafe in Echo Park with my mom and dad. I saw this place from Social Media : is only open three days a week--Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays--from 9 AM to 2 PM. I also heard that the owner actually opened up their own house and turned it into a cafe. I was curious about it, so we checked it out today. The house was beautiful and wide open, giving it a very relaxing and cozy vibe. Plus, the coffee and cookies were all delicious. We had two Americanos, a Peanut Coconut Cookie, and an Oat Halva Date Cookie, and everything tasted good. I originally wanted to try the Fig Shortbread and the Blood Orange Ricotta Cake, but everything I asked for was sold out. So, I just ended up ordering those cookies from whatever they had left. They close at 2 PM, so it was probably because we got there around 1 PM. Sitting there today, the breeze from outside was so refreshing, and the overall atmosphere was really nice. The staff were all friendly, too. It didn't look like there were any outlets to charge phones, but seeing people working on their laptops, I'm guessing they provide Wi-Fi (although I didn't ask about it myself). Note 1) Parking : street parking only. Note 2) I went to the restroom and they had good-smelling hand soap and body lotion, which I really loved. Also, the toilet paper box said "Toxin-free, tree-free." I was momentarily curious about where you'd even buy toilet paper like that, but I got distracted taking pictures and chatting with my mom, so I totally forgot to ask. Note 3) They don't have decaf coffee here. But the regular Americano had such a great aroma and a nice, strong flavor, so I really enjoyed it. Note 4) The water cups here were stainless steel. There was a water pitcher and cups set out on a large table in the living room, but to be honest, the stainless steel cups had a bit of a smell.

Really liked the ambiance of this sweet little gem on historic Carroll Ave in Echo Park. Surprising to walk up a driveway and find it tucked away. It is definitely a good place to relax and chat. While we enjoyed some delicious baked items, the coffee took a little time to get but, again, it is a small place with one barista. The staff were nice and sociable and there were plenty of places to sit inside and out in the large side yard. A lot of people were coming through with the line at times 7-10 deep. I'll be going again for sure.

So, like a huge nerd I was first in line this past Friday but they weren't ready yet. So, the owner said I could wait in the garden. Then, a group of like 4-5 ppl showed up and got in line in front of me. When they started taking orders the owner came out to get me and let the group know I was there first so they'd be taking my order first. I thought that was a really classy move. And, I live the block over so I'll be coming back regularly. Welcome to the neighborhood!!

It definitely has lots of charm! I got the strawberry sesame latte less sweet and it was a little on the sweeter side still but I really enjoyed it. I'm also got a lemon poppy seed muffin that they get from a bakery. It was good as well. I liked the tangy lemon frosting on top. Comfortable seats and it's pretty big for a coffee shop. I saw a few people order the egg salad sandwich. It looked good. If you live nearby, cute stop. Street parking or we parked across the street.

Walking in, I loved the aesthetic design of the open air cafe. Loved the antique vibes. There was a variety of different seating to choose from such as bar seating and cushioned couches which was nice. Going down the list of menu items I had: - Cantaloupe Milk CT with Matcha: Creamy and sweet cantaloupe flavor. Matcha was solid, but wished there was more of it. - Egg Sando: Pretty good. Lots of egg filling, but wish it was more flavorful. Bread also didn't hold the egg filling well. - Melon Soda Float: Yummy dessert. Ice wasn't necessary since there was ice cream in the cup already. I did some work from here and my experience was relatively decent. There were ample outlets and the couch seating was comfortable. The music could get a bit loud though, but I didn't mind. Only downside was the wifi wasn't great so I had to use my hotspot. This would be better as a place to socialize. Definitely a cafe worth checking out in the Chinatown area!

(If the inside is full sit outside for a nice breeze, the WiFi still works decently well outside!) I got the orange mint matcha which was both rich and refreshing at the same time - the orange slice was fresh and a nice bite at the end! The seasonal menu also looked good, I hope I can return to try it at a later time. Lots of matcha options for those looking. Pretty big food menu too, which I didn't try this time sadly! Parking in the garage is validated for 30 minutes and then they start charging at the regular rate. They do NOT take tap to pay, as I learned the hard way. Parking is my only complaint about this spot! I loved Archives of Us and I'll be back to try more!

On the other hand, I really enjoyed the hojicha latte. It was a little on the sweeter side, but I think ordering it half sweet would make it just about perfect. The roasted hojicha flavor came through nicely and made for a much more enjoyable drink. The shop itself is really cute. It has a unique half retail, half coffee shop concept that gives it a lot of character. I also like the convenient location on a major street. While I wasn't impressed by every drink I tried, the atmosphere and concept make it worth a visit. The drinks could be a little stronger in execution, but I might just be picky when it comes to coffee. I have not yet tried the other drinks yet so I'm excited to try something else next time. (I personally do not recommend the thank you latte, but it might just be my unique taste buds since lots of others enjoy it!)
