The food is amazing-I recommend the steak tacos. Having lived in Los Angeles, as close as you get With this said, I live in the neighborhood and do not speak Spanish, although I try to be gracious. I tip well, compliment and still feel... I would love to take a few friends, just do not have the vibe we would "fit". Not saying I would not go back, crave the food - if there is not one word of English, I am ok with that - just let me know to pull out my translator and don't make me feel bad Probably would have gone tonight and then took a look at the reviews Again - Awesome food read more

I've been visiting BTOS for a little bit now. This evening I got their dinner, El Gallo, and I must say, this meal is !Muy Delicioso! The chicken breast was cooked to near perfection, fresh, moist, and has the right amount of spice. The sauce takes it to the next level. The Elote and Napoles Asado complemented the chicken breast, just right!!! Keep up the great work you all do! read more

Went there last night for drinks and dinner with a friend at 6PM. No beer on tap and the bottle selection was horrible. Their alcohol menu wasn't much better. They were out of wings as well. Ended up with a burrito which was good and the service was OK. Not sure I'll be back. read more

We stopped in randomly on Cinco de mayo. We had never been before, but wanted tacos and knew everywhere else would likely have a long wait. I'm so glad we decided to stop here! Great service but even better food. If you're looking for authentic Mexican cuisine- this is the place! We ordered the street tacos, the burrito, street corn & rice. Everything was delicious! Just picked up our food and it was really good! I ordered empanadas and thoroughly enjoyed them. The barbacoa was my favorite (I also tried the chicken & carnitas and they were yummy too)! My partner wolfed down his steak burrito with zero complaint. The salsa wasn't my favorite but we both thought the verde sauce was great. Will definitely order again ! read more

Bought some beers, shots and tacos. Had $161 charge which I paid for and understand but then had had two other charges For $50+ and then $60+. Don't know what it was for but waitress was named ibelece. So don't know what the other charges were for. It should've been one charge. But 3 separate charges? The first time my friends and I went here we had a great experience. Tonight was the second experience. We sat at the bar and the Bartender was very rude! He clearly did not want to bother with us. I believe there might have been a language barrier, but he definitely did not want us there. We asked the other server a few questions and he was furious, slamming plates and glasses in the sink. We came kind of late but the service was above the expectations, mango margarita was worthy, and they have my favorite beer "pacific" my son got a torta cubana my wife got ribeye steak with avocado and nopales salad corn street I got shrimp a la díabla with nopales and rice the sauce was amazing I ask not to spice it came just right, beside we got fresh made tortillas. Probably a one-star meal, but they seemed friendly when we picked up. We got a meal to go, so I can't speak too much to the cleanliness. The restaurant was mostly empty, but the atmosphere is what you'd expect for a run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant in Pittsburgh. Our meal was missing a few items we ordered. But what we did get ranged from barely okay to not good at all. The barbacoa was gristly and fatty. The rice was super bland. Nothing tasted fresh, just kind of blah and monoflavored. This place was awesome, some of the best Mexican food we have had in a long time. We are from Florida and it was a nice surprise. Staff was awesome and very accommodating. The food here is amazing. Had the burrito with grilled chicken and I loved it. It needed no sauce added. Loved it the way it came. All the flavors mixed so well I could taste everything in there. It was big. It was filled. And it was delicious. Highly recommend this place for Mexican food. It's not one of those places that drown their food in sauce to give it flavor. Visited BTOS kitchen last night for the first time. There were 4 of us. We are always in search of good Mexican food in Pittsburgh as it seems to be limited. (Our go to used to be Los Chiludos but they've moved to Florida!) I think we found a spot to fill that void in the South Hills! BTOS kitchen had authentic, quality Mexican food at an affordable price. I had the Diablo shrimp entree which was excellent -- I wish I had saved the sauce to bring home and eat over rice! Others had a combination of street tacos and burritos. All of us loved our meals. We will definitely be back. The plus is the back patio for outdoor dining. I felt compelled to write a review because I want this seemingly family-based restaurant to be recognized and receive the credit they deserve. I also want it to survive for selfish reasons! So we went to this place on a recommendation. "Most authentic Mexican food ever," he said. We never got that far. Walked in and a girl from behind the bar said to sit anywhere. There was only one low-top table left in the room, so that's where we landed. The table was dirty with crumbs and liquid. As the girl approached, we asked her to bring a cloth to wipe the table. She searched for a minute before finding one, then came over to the table to wipe. Since we were only two people sitting at a four-top, she felt it wasn't necessary to wipe the entire table, just the area in front of us. When my companion said "give me the rag and I'll get the rest of it" the server replied, "Oh, that's O.K. no need". We were then asked for our drink order. We asked for iced tea and were told they don't have tea. Our choices were Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, water, or fruit juice. I ordered a beer, my companion ordered Diet Coke. The server returned with my beer and said they were out of Diet Coke and handed us menus. The menus were laminated, sort of, and the lamination was peeling and sticky. I then dropped a few dollars on the table for the beer, and we left to go to our favorite Italian place. read more

Just ordered from here for the first time. I'm by no means a Mexican food expert but I don't like very many places here in Pittsburgh. I judge all Mexican food by a place called Matt's El Rancho in Austin Texas. Believe me when I say you need to try this place. I ordered delivery and the food came quick and it was still nice and hot. Side note don't fall for the bs grub hub order off Yelp, you'll end up paying a lot more for your food when this place offers free delivery in dormont, Brookline and I think another local area if you call them. The woman I spoke with on the phone was friendly and helpful. I had the carne asada burrito, chicken fajita, chips salsa, and a cheese quesadilla. As a side we tried the grilled cactus. The food was delicious. The carne asada was big chunks of steak and a nice char on it. The burrito was a good size about the size of chipotle. The grilled cactus was nice and tender and a hint of lime. The chicken fajita is seasoned very nice and the chicken and vegetables are nice and tender. Homemade tortillas were very good. The tomatillo salad with my burrito was fresh and spicy and the red salsa with the chips also had a nice slice to it. The price was also very reasonable for a family of three. My 3 year old daughter loved the chips and quesadilla. Do yourself and this place a favor and order some food you won't regret it. Great food made by good good people for a good price! Loved BTOS Kitchen! My wife and I went there for the first time tonight. This place seemed like it might have it's own special flavors that you don't get in a number of other Mexican restaurants by the look of the pictures and menu so we decided to try it. We were so pleased with the original tastes of familiar selections along with some not so common items including a tasty cactus side dish.
