Love BSR!!! New location is much bigger and has a nice waiting room. Review from other person on here with the one star is not true. Read the reviews from the other location. Anyhow, Agustin can be trusted 100%. Hubby is a picky person and is so happy with his recent work. Had our car there for a major tune-up for a few hours and feels brand new again. Agustin has extensive electrical knowledge and the right tools and doesn't do Mickey Mouse jobs. Always the best oem/dealer parts so they don't fail. Good mechanics want to put good stuff in your car so you aren't back there all the time. Bad ones charge you for crappy parts and see you more often. He has 2 beautiful daughters defending our country in the military and is an honest man. A couple of years ago, I went somewhere else in town because the company that sold me the ac compressor said they would only guarantee it if installed by a mechanic on their list and that other mechanic ruined my car and all the great work Agustin put into it. I took my trucks here and every time they would "fix" an issue, but it would never be fixed. I would have to keep taking it back in over and over. They would do things so rushed and end up putting things back together the wrong way then end up saying they didn't do that. That I must have taken it somone were els to be worked on. They refuse to admit their mistakes. They also did a transition for me and put the hydrolic lines on in the wrong order 2 times. I had to take it in 3 times for them to get it rite. And they still have the nerve to say what did I do to it. I don't recommend them at all! read more

Ive literally had the BEST experience at this shop. Agustin is an awesome man. You're going to pay for quality work. Ive had several issues with my old 2003 Honda accord and they have all been resolved beautifully. I also dont feel like they're taking advantage of me because im mechanic-illiterate. Absolutely horrible. Took my saturn in for a new computer and reset timing. After three months they told me they were unable to fix it. Called to have a tow truck come and take it to the dealership and was told that it was done. Original quote was $400 when I picked up they handed me a bill for $877.50. When I picked my car up my head gasket was blown. They had destroyed my brand new catalytic converter and stolen my rear breaks and interior door handles. And I took my car to them with 112 thousand miles but when I picked it uo the odometer said 121 thousand. They ignored all my calls, and when I go to the shop they always claim the owner is not there. So much for my 120 day labor warranty. Worst experience with any mechanic. Highly recommend everyone stay away from them. Am currently in process of suing. read more

I am a college graduate with a B.S. in Biology; this means that I have taken physics, chemistry, math etc. These guys took me to be a fool because I am very gregarious and not looking to cut corners or cheat others. I have rebuilt a street bike motor in my younger days so know all about crafts-man ship. This leads me to my issue, originally I am from Long Beach and have only lived in Bakersfield for 6-7mo. and have tried to find a mechanic I can trust on my used chevy silverado. Using Yelp I was lead to this pair AT BSR AUTO REPAIR & ELECTRIC . . . when you walk in their shop they have their "degrees" hanging on their wall with engines and other auto knick-naks throughout. Don't be fooled right away. I took my truck in because it was having issues with a hot start (1999 chevy silverado 1500 v6 4.3L) on my truck. The truck does have 147,000 miles on it, but the engine is pretty well maintained and there is a detailed car fax attesting to that. I first thought the wrong battery was in there and then maybe the starter. After research a few to TOO many places I decided on BSR they were nice on the phone and seemed very knowledgeable (don't be mislead -- do your homework). So first repairs were in the neighborhood of 465$ for ignition module and a crank position sensor; it was the labor supposedly that killed me. Yet I still experienced the same issue with a hot start (cold starts were fine). Waited 2 weeks before I took it in again and had video of my oil pressure gauge that fluttered and the dashboard gauges on hot those starts. Augustine immediately became defensive and started making excuses for this when I was just trying to give him more information . . . I was not criticizing his work I just wanted my original problem fixed. The first time he had my car he drained my gas tank driving it around after he told me the problem was fixed; the second time he had my car I left very little gas in it thinking it would force him to shell out some bucks to drive it around. He had my car for 5 DAYS WITH OUT A PHONE CALL TELLING ME!!!! I let it go because I thought hey these guys know what they are doing . . . So I call him finally and he says he can't repeat the problem I am having and that everything looks fine, but that he doesn't like to drive customer vehicles very much (then how the heck was he supposed to diagnose my problem?!) anyway he did a diagnostic and it should my ECG valve and MAF failed to appease me I guess?! He said he would clean the ECG for free, but the MAF would cost over 200$ to fix plus I had a water pump that was going and that would be 300$ to fix. He also said my oil sending unit was bad and the whole dash would have to be pulled to reach the cluster that was 400$. Wrong on all three counts . . . The water pump you can buy on-line from reputable sources for around 40$ and that is a bosch . . . He was charging me 137$ for a duralast or some off brand and 100$ for four gallons of dex-cool, at wal-mart they sell 50/50 prestone dex-cool 10$ for a gallon (50$ with tax). Then the MAF is a mass air-flow sensor hooked up to air-intake (he was charging 100$ for labor -- the MAF is right in front of your face when you pop the hood!!!). I picked up a delphi for 60$ online. Then the oil sending unit you replace from inside the engine compartment -- the back part of the gauge is accessible to replace the oil sending unit. Although he said it was bad because when you turn off the motor the gauge should read zero psi not 40 -- through my research auto mechanics I feel have been left out of the loop on this one because THE PSI DOESN'T HAVE TO DROP TO ZERO IN ALL MAKES AND MODELS, my oil sending unit is perfectly fine; in short my original problem was not fixed and my worries were increased when they kept my vehicle for 5 DAYS WITHOUT A PHONE CALL to tell me a laundry list of problems, but the work they did was not it (yet they didn't fix my original problem with a part I might not have needed). Do your homework before you just take your vehicle in to ANY AUTO MECHANIC they bank on consumers being clueless. If you have a computer and some detailed information gathered by a little effort you can most likely fix your problem or gain a better idea of what the problem is when they start fast talking you either when you pick your car up or drop it off . . . "don't worry my friend we take care of you" says Augustin/Raul . . . oh yeah you did . . . keep my 500$ I saved my self 800$ in the end by NOT GOING BACK . . . EVER!!!! read more

It is tough finding a good mechanic, and I thought I did when I started going to BSR a few years back. When I took my car in because it was running rough at idle and had a slight hesitation when I took off from a stop, (I told him that I thought it was the throttle body). After he did his evaluation of my car he gave me a call and said I needed a tune-up. After paying the money for the tune-up I got in the car and start down the road. The next day I went back and told him that my car was still running rough and again I told him I thought it was the throttle body, he said he felt the throttle body was to expense so he did the tune-up. He did show me some spark plugs and now that I think about it, if those plugs were in my car I think my car would have stalled when I came to a stop. I took my care to ford and problem solved. It is not just this time, I did notice other things that he replaced that went bad after a year that should not have gone bad. read more

I had a problem with my 2009 Audi A4 and I took it to two different certified Audi VW shops and they both could not figure out the problem . One of the shops tried to fool me to pay $520 by replacing the fuel sensor, but I did not pay anything. I took it to Audi Bakersfield and unfortunately they kept the car for two days and could not find the problem either. I found BSR online and told myself, let me give it a try. Taht's when I met Alex and Augustine. Alex was responsible to fix my car and he told me from the beginning that he will find the problem, which must be an electrical issue. Finally Alex gave me a call that the cluster needs to be replaced and reprogrammed. He replaced the cluster and made sure everything was alright and he called twice after i took the car to make sure if everything is alright.
