Our engine broke down in Bakersfield at night and 8 of us including kids and seniors were 4 hours away from home. I called several mobile service companies but none of them could come quickly. Dexter was the only one that got my call immediately and came in 30 minutes. His service fee was $50 lower than another nearby company that couldn't service us. Upon inspection, the engine was not fixable, so we had to find another rental car to get home. Of course none of the rental companies had availability either. I broke into tears out of frustration. Dexter stayed with us and not only did he get a tow truck for us to take the car home, he also offered to drive us home with his family van, out of kindness and empathy. Finally, an honest mechanic at a good price. While getting gas in Bakersfield on the way to LA, my corolla would crank but nothing came on. Didn't have time to tow it to a shop, so I looked for a mobile mechanic. Never used one before so I was skeptical he'd charge a lot. But he arrived fast and quickly diagnosed it to be a bad battery. His price was more than fair for the time and effort to pick up a new battery. He returned quickly with the new one, and installed it in less than 5 minutes. He even cleaned the contacts and informed me of the importance of keeping them clean to extend the battery life as long as possible. I also asked him about my squeaky brakes (which I had just replaced about 3 months ago) and he told me that it was most likely just dust in the rotors. He sprayed some cleaner on it, and rinsed it off and that was it! No more squeaky sound! I highly recommend Dexter to anyone in the Bakersfield area. Car started sputtering when turning on. Knowing that it could be the battery, spark plugs, alternator, gas pump or any myriad of things I know nothing about I called my regular mechanic. Since we're in the middle of a shelter at home pandemic I knew there was a chance they wouldn't be open, esp since it's Friday and most everything has cut back hours/days. Left a message, called an hr later - no answer. Due to the fact it's my only vehicle and my son needs it for his graveyard essential job it HAD to be fixed ASAP, so started my Yelp search (BTW, I'm bored so writing). Came across the one company, Prominent Mobile Auto Services with 1 review. Everything else had more reviews but rated 4/5 stars, law of averages I know. The 1 review was written in a forthright, honest matter (not like this one...again...bored) and was glowing so I thought what the heck. Let's give it a go, plus they come to me~ sweet deal! So, I messaged. Response to message within a minute, time agreed to come out - arrival within 40mins. Problem resolved long before estimated arrival time, including leaving to pick up the part. Dexter was friendly, courteous, helpful and informative. He was fast and efficient in figuring out what the issue was (thankfully just the battery). When he wentbto pick up the battery he called me with price ranges and options. Offered a shelter at home discount and let me know how my car would respond to the battery change, basic flatline reboot of system. I schedule an oil change and Dexter arrived on time and was able to do the maintenance at my house--saving me the hassle of driving to get it done/waiting/etc and prices were lower/competitive with a regular oil change. My car had been good to me for a many years. One day after an oil change, I noticed that all the oil had leaked out onto the concrete where my car was parked. I took it back to the place that had done my oil change, they told me that they had noticed an oil leak in my car and that might be the problem. I felt that they could have told me this before completing the oil change and charging me. Now, they were talking about an oil leak having to do with the motor/transmission and quoted me an outrageous amount for the repair. This happened last Saturday, so I decided to look for another mechanic right away. Fortunately for me, most mechanics in town closed early. I say that I was fortunate because this lead me to find Prominent Mobile Auto Service. The owner of this mobile service came to my place in less than 30 minutes and diagnosed my car right there and right then. He explained to me what was wrong with my car and even showed me what was wrong so I can understand what he was talking about. He told me that the issue was the cars rear main seal and explained to me exactly what he was going to do and why, in a way I understood. This was very important to me because the other shop failed to explain in a way that I could understand. I understood his quote and the price he quoted was way more competitive than the previous shop. He fixed my car in no time and while he worked on it he would update me which I thought was awesome. I've been driving my car for a bit now and there have been no issues since, he did an amazing job. By the way, I'm a college student and trust me when I say that this mobile mechanic service is 100% COLLEGE STUDENT APPROVED! I could not be happier with the service provided. Honest, knowledgeable mechanic, fair pricing, fast service! Contacted Dexter about replacing wheel bearings on my 2000 Frontier. After taking it all apart and inspecting the bearings, he told me the bearings were fine (the honesty part), but advised me that given the symptoms, the age and appearance of my tires, that they were likely the problem (the knowledgeable part).
