I would give zero stars if I could. Absolutely worthless shop. Had our car for a month. Gave it to us with the roof covered in oil. Was stored under a leaking car I presume. Drove it 10 miles and the same check engine is magically back on. Had it for 2 more weeks. Still not fixed. Can't get a call back or an answer on the phone but got a text that says I need Need spark plugs. Still haven't addressed the reason for being there. Shady shop. I'm very glad to have found this location by word of mouth from my Uber driver. I own a bmw 528i and had a transmission malfunction which locked my vehicle in place. I took it to another shop before but after receiving a 4K quote for repair we had to postpone. A month later my Uber driver asked what was wrong with my bmw(it was dusty) I told him my issue and he gave me Bakersfield motoworks information. I contacted them the same day had the car in the shop a week later and in a two days my car was ready for pick up at half the quoted price from the other shop. Turns out it didn't need a new rransimisison as mentioned by the other shop but rather a few sensors replaced fuilds and gaskets. Car has been running strong, no shift issues and smooth. So far nothin but excellent communication when calling to get info and quotes. Patient w/ myself and my son who is 18 and learning what he needs to ask and how to proceed w/the servicing of his bmw. They even provided us a tow truck service that arrived promptly after golden empire towing told us it would be 4 hours. My son said the shop was cool and everyone was friendly. They even specialize in bmws! After an unfortunate tow to bobs mufflers after hours come to find out during business hours they no longer do radiator service, we were given a blessing in the right direction. Great shop, swift mechanics at work, awesome front desk service, and a transparent process from start to finish. I called BMW and towed my old truck in first thing after a gnarly breakdown between the Bay and LA. They got me in and out in one business day. This was HUGE considering one shop told me I'd likely need a whole new engine. Less than $650 later, I was out with a new radiator and with time to actually enjoy my trip. The actual shop is nice to kick it in: air conditioning, cold water, huge TV, there was even a sweet baby hanging out too that made a whole day in the shop not so bad. This place seems to be family run, and they have their operation down to a science. There were very small snags, with one wrong part being delivered, but even that was corrected quickly. I was having issues with my credit union in the background, and they let me use their printer to handle some business. The mechanic even agreed to drive my truck around for 30min to ensure everything was good to go. Breaking down is never fun, but I'm glad of all the shops in Bakersfield, my truck and I landed here and relatively got in and out. Thanks, Bakersfield Motor Works! Car was given to me in worse condition then I left the vehicle. There was cosmetic damage done to the car as well. The communication from start to finish was poor. Took car for issues non pertaining to engine work when I received my vehicle the engine bay was striped of all plastic covers and are still missing. Some parts appear to have been replaced. I was charged for parts that did not resolve the initial problem I took the car in for. read more

These guys were great. Called to check if there was a wait to do an oil change and they told me to come on in. It took a little longer than they said (60 min vs. 30) because they had to wait 35 minutes for the oil filter that they were told would come in 5-10 minutes, but that wasn't their fault. Price was competitive and they were very friendly. They apologize because their waiting area was set up to be painted, but who cares when you do a great job at a good price. The team at bakersfield motor works is awesome. I had went to two other locations in town bmw and another European repair shop and was quoted almost double of that at Bakersfield motor works. I drop off my car in the am and it was ready by the next day which I felt was more then reasonable given I had a transmission repair. I saved overall 1500 dollars when they discovered that it was actually a few sensors that needed replaced rather then an actual unit. We have been going to them ever since! read more
