I feel like I was robbed of $3,700. I took my bmw here not even 2 months ago because the low coolant light came on. I was told it would be several days of work and that it would take at least 3 days for the parts to come in. Naturally, I was surprised as to how my car could be ready for pick up just a day and a half later. That trip to Precision was 3,400 (mostly labor costs) but I was hopeful the issue had been fixed, despite being confused as to how it could possibly be ready so quickly. 5 days later, the same coolant light came back on. The man that answers and works the front desk is gifted when it comes to talking in circles. He basically said "well, it's a car. Who knows why the light is back on. Bring it back." So I did. This trip was $300 for them to "fix" whatever they missed 5 days before. I was supposed to feel grateful that they didn't charge me for diagnostics on this second visit. One month later, the same light is back on. Major leak still in my coolant system. Car is undrivable. I had my car towed to bmw this morning. I should have just done that in the first place. This business isn't what it used to be and they clearly no longer have a mechanic that is familiar with bmws. After going here for 15 years, myself, family and friends that drive European cars will never return. I've contacted the BBB and my attorney in regards to getting my 3700 back. read more

I know nothing about cars. So when it comes to finding an honest and reliable auto shop that specializes in German vehicles, I'm all in. A few years ago I went on Yelp to find an alternative to BMW's shop and I've received amazing customer service ever since. Recently, I needed to have my brake fluid changed. We opted to come to Precision and they were super reasonable and relatively quick. The service is friendly and straightforward. What really made them stand out was the service I received from Seth. The following day I received an error message on my console. I called Precision and asked if it had anything to do with the brake fluid change from the previous day. They immediately took me in, used their machine to read my computer and tested out the vehicle to try and identify the issue. Of course, the error message disappeared by the time I got to the shop and we weren't able to pinpoint the issue. But I did appreciate their accomodation and thorough explanation of the potential problems. If you have any kind of German vehicle, Porsche, BMW, Mercedes - new or old - definitely consider coming to Precision! read more

I called back and said I'd like to come in that week, and he said when. I got there, the parts had been ordered and were on hand. The service was done in less than one hour. At the price quoted. I actually couldn't wait to write this review geez the stress i've been under lately. So i was at my regular maintenance service at my dealer on Saturday waiting patiently for my baby to be done. Advisor comes up to me saying well you're not gonna like me but your rear brakes are at 20% and need replacing and it's gonna be $1000 for the same brakes. I was like what the fuck in my mind first with the cost and that's not for ceramic my friends! It's basic bitch brakes. Then the issue with wow my car had 70% at 10,457 miles then.. now at 18,132 miles it's at 20% which isn't correct either Precision showed me every detail on my brakes and thoroughly explained what i was seeing and it's actually at 10%. I was shocked at the quote from the dealer i shouldn't have been considering they had just charged me $80 for wiper blades that i was told i could not get anywhere else by the service advisor he also told me i'm not even charging you labor to replace them. Haha well that was bullshit too because Precision can get them and it's not $80!! Wow so this finally opened my eyes to the fact that yea i'm a bit of an idiot for thinking the dealer is the best place to go they won't screw me Lol yea they will, can and do!! So here we are free inspection with open and honest answers and Outstanding customer service at Precision Automotive. From my first phone conversation here to my visits i have felt complete trust and been treated with the utmost respect. They specialize in Audi, BMW, Benz etc.. I've waited in here twice now they have a comfortable waiting area with delightful staff everyone from the owners to the techs are nothing but awesome! I was told they'd have my new ceramic brakes in in a day and yep they came right on time. Install took about 2 hours. They advised me when to expect the front to need replacing and are also going to be doing those in ceramic and will be doing free inspections as i need until it's time for those. Fantastic prices here i won't elaborate on that but just know you won't be screwed like at the dealer. Pricing is fair and legit. And to be honest i've been so stressed about well who's going to do repairs when i need them etc. Because i've lost faith in honesty from my dealer. My car suddenly stopped starting one day, so I decided to look on yelp for a trusted auto repair shop in town. I saw that Precision had 4.5 stars and a lot of good reviews, so my husband chose to go to this place. We were greeted by Rob and an employee who were very helpful and kind to us. We told him the car was running perfectly fine and hasn't had any issues since we bought it, so we weren't sure what was going on with it. He automatically told us the price for a diagnosis was $149. We were fine with that since the car was already there and not starting anyway. I was nervous at first because looking around, the shop seemed to only service high-end German cars -- I brought my old Toyota in. The interior of the shop was also much more on the high-end side compared to most auto repair shops in town -- almost like you would expect in a dealership, so I was afraid this little problem would cost me more than I actually would expect (I was thinking dealership prices). Then, a client of theirs came in pretty much telling us we were crazy bringing in our old car to a repair shop like this one. He said there's no point in possibly paying 10k in repairs for a 5k car. I freaked out a little more. Rob ensured we don't have to worry about that. I got call updates from Rob throughout the day, which was very nice. He told us it was just a key problem and we needed a new one because our car wasn't reading the one we had. Somehow a chip or something came loose and that's what we needed to start it. He got price options for us and helped us get the best price for a new car key, which I also appreciated very much. I got my car back the same day, which is a HUGE deal. My only issue would be that when I got my car back, the clock on my dash was changed and so were some of my radio dials. I'm a mom with 2 little ones who relies a lot on the clock because I am constantly driving from one location to the next for different sports and activities. When daylight savings came, I updated my clock to ensure it was changed so kids get to school and other activities on time. I was on my way to taking them to school this morning when I looked down at my dash clock and realized we were 20 minutes behind schedule and the hour wasn't correct. I freaked out and double-checked the time on my phone to see that I was actually on schedule. I also like to put the radio on some days and just click the dials. I realized this morning that my stations were all static. I didn't appreciate that, so they lost a star from me. read more

This review is long overdue. I recently had a bad experience with BMW of Bakersfield and left them negative reviews. It occurred to me that we normally take the time to write long reviews when we're upset or unsatisfied with service received, but we don't usually take the time to write positive reviews when our expectations are met or exceeded. I hope this review is a good start in my showing appreciation to those businesses that deserve recognition. With that said, the service I've received at Precision Automotive on multiple occasions the past 12 months has been outstanding! Rob and the other staff members have been courteous, honest, and they are my go-to for anything involving maintenance/repairs on my BMW-- the only reason I went to BMW of Bakersfield is because, unfortunately, Precision does not perform alignments. I feel relieved knowing that there is a local, trustworthy establishment that I can rely on to professionally handle any issues that I, myself, am unable or unwilling to handle (I do a lot of DIY on my 325i and my Miata). Speaking from my experience--if you have a BMW, don't hesitate to reach out to them for service. I would trust them for other European car brands, as well. If they serviced Acuras, I'd drive up here from LA to get mine serviced! I had an inherited Karmann Ghia that needed some attention before I could sell it. Their technician gave it a thorough going-over and I was given the bad news before I laid out a bazillion dollars. Robert honestly gave me his opinion as to what my outlay potentially could be and the likelihood of its success based on the first diagnosis, whereupon I decided to stanch the bleeding based on his analysis. My cost for the diagnosis was VERY reasonable IMHO, considering the details of the inspection they provided, as well as Robert's opinions. The day I waited for the tow truck to pick up the car, I sat in the waiting room and listened to Robert speak with another customer who had his car in for service. Robert asked him several questions to direct a detailed response and then gave this customer a very honest estimate as to the what the problem MIGHT be and the mean time for repair, but reassured the customer that he would be called for customer approval prior to any work being performed. Yep. Nice and honest business people like this still exist. There is hope for the world. read more

Amazing service! Traveling through Bakersfield in early September, the AC on our 2018 Honda Pilot quit blowing cool air. We stopped at a Honda dealer who stated abruptly, "we can set an appointment for late-September!" AAA said the issue was not covered; but Precision Automotive provides services that are covered by AAA. We were seen immediately at Precision where the lead manager/mechanic attempted fix the problem. They pulled the car in and thoroughly checked the system. In advance, the manager said that labor would be $145/hour. The AC started working and the mechanic test drove the car to ensure proper cooling. The manager told us that they really didn't do anything to fix the problem as it was caused by a faulty sensor. They checked the brakes and tires and sent us on our way with NO CHARGE! Over the years, we've had several Audis and we always bring them to Precision for work once Audicare/ the manufacturer warranty is out. I honestly can't suggest Precision enough! * Scheduling is always super easy and available when needed. * Pricing is not only fair, but they'll often provide you options (what you can do vs what they'd personally do, etc). * They're just nice folks, always easy to deal with. * The work is good. I've never had a single problem with anything they've done for us over the years. Also worth noting is that as a woman, it can be intimidating to go into any mechanic. Let's be real: you can be knowledgable, smart, or whatever else, but we've all hand mechanics talk down us or try to scam us. I have NEVER had that experience at Precision. In fact, even when I ask what are likely very dumb questions, I'm treated with respect and given great, helpful information. I'm taking my car in this week because something new and exciting is needing their magic touch, but I know my car will be in good hands. read more

I have an 8 year old Mercedes, and this is my first time not going to the dealer for service. I am also female, so car maintenance and repairs can be intimidating. Precision is great! Everyone was friendly and professional. Rob explained things very well. He brought things to my attention and offered recommendations. In no way did he pressure me. My car needed a few things, and he helped me prioritize what to do now, and an item I could save for next time. The prices are much better than the dealer. I feel like Rob is honest. This is a fantastic and honest shop. From my first visit the shop has surprised me how professional, experienced and helpful they are. I had a pre-vehicle inspection done for a used Mini Cooper S. They spotted a few issues with brakes/rotors to address with the dealer. They even provided me a quote for the service which was less than I have ever been given for any car I've ever had. Anyone who knows Mini Coopers, knows these are expensive cars! Luckily, the dealer took care of it, but this shop is now my go to. Already been back for an synthetic oil change and they were kind enough to look over my brakes/rotors the dealer fixed and give it the okay. Quit reading this and make an appointment. I would give them more stars if I could. My daughter's car stopped running when she was driving north to the Bay Area on Hwy 5. I drove down to Bakersfield to help. I found Precision Automotive and a tow truck to help get her car to them for their fairly priced diagnosis. I spoke with Rob on the phone beforehand to make sure they had time that day to assess the problem. He was very thoughtful and kind. Unfortunately, the car didn't make it. My daughter didn't keep up with the oil because she didn't know there was a leak. The engine froze after the built up pressure blew a hole in the sidewall. The staff at Precision Automotive took care of the car keeping it inside their shop so that her belongings were safe and helped us arrange a Pick and Pull company to come pick up the car since it was too expensive to put in a newly rebuilt engine. This stressful situation was made better if possible by the fantastic Customer Service offered by the Precision Automotive staff all for only the initial $149 diagnosis charge. They work fast, I had an appointment at 10:30 and I was out by 1:00. Rob even charged up my battery and the minivan works better than before. Pro service and trustworthy professionals. Highly recommended!! Seth diagnosed and fixed a serpentine belt that had jumped its tracks, in under an hour, without charge! They could've easily charged $150 and we wouldn't have known, but these guys are trustworthy. We were on our way from Modesto to L.A. coming home from visiting folks, about to hit the grapevine in the rain, with two kids and a hamster, when a belt started squealing. Opened Yelp and called a couple service stations, and Precision said they'd take a look same-day, despite only an hour and a half before closing. They let us eat our dinner in the waiting room, Owen let us play with his toys, and Elizabeth even offered a toy to each of our kids. These guys were my mechanic of choice when I lived in Bakersfield. I have since moved away and have not been able to find an honest mechanic that does such good work, especially on German vehicles. I wish I could get them to pick their shop up and move with me. I own a 1996 Rialta and live 250 miles from the closest VW dealer, in Reno. In 2008, my Rialta's air conditioning stopped functioning and I took it to the Reno VW dealer and was charged just over $800 to install a $64 switch, then was told the air conditioning would only work when the engine revved at 55mph or above. Say what??! The air never worked and I could not find another mechanic who could fix it right away. In 2011, I took the Rialta to a recommended indie in Chico (800 mile round-trip). He got the air working, but by the following summer, it was blowing warm air again. I checked the forums, but the Rialta air seemed such a mystery. For years, with two dogs, I drove at night or in early mornings, to avoid the heat of the day. Was preparing to take the Rialta to a friend's shop in Fresno, a 330-mile round-trip with Tioga Pass open, but because of all the snow, Tioga was not open, turning the trip to Fresno into a 750 mile round-trip x 2. He was pretty sure it needed a new compressor, then said it might take awhile to find the leaks. Checked out roadhaus.com. Didn't want to go to Los Angeles or San Francisco, so focused on Bakersfield and found Precision Automotive. A friend followed me in his car, across the Sierra Nevada to Precision. They were not able to get to it for a week, but called me with everything that needed to be done as soon as they had inspected it. It did not need a compressor, so that was a savings. It was out of refrigerant and needed hoses, o-rings, expansion and service valves, etc. I also wanted the timing belt changed as well. 80,000 miles and sitting out in the desert for 15 years, the belts were profusely cracked (I asked them to save the parts so I could check them out). Mechanic Seth did a thorough and excellent job. Precision might be a little pricier as they are a high performance German import shop but their expertise is worth it--they get it done right, one time--a huge savings in my time since I have to spend two days just getting the vehicle there and back. They know VWs--and will work on the Rialta Eurovan engine, a rare combo. Well worth the 11-hour round-trip across the Sierra. read more
