The procedure was something I was dreading for years, but it wasn't bad at all. When I moved away and saw a different dentist, he had told me how lucky I was with the way it turned out because sometimes gum grafts can be a big waste if not done correctly. The office got me in the same day I called and I was lucky enough that he was able to do the extraction at the same time. Instead of waiting to do it under sedation I chose to have it done under local anesthesia. I felt no pain at all during the procedure from injections to sutures. I was given very thorough post op instructions. I want to give a shout out to Adrian, the surgical assistant also. He was awesome! A few days after my extraction, a close friend called me wanting to know who my oral surgeon had been because she broke off one of her front teeth at the gum! They were able to get her in very quickly and she will see him tomorrow.

So, for all intents and purposes, you're not going to be getting the care of Dr. State. I spoke with the staff today and confronted them about what I consider to be dishonesty in how they are handling Dr. State's absence. I was told 'We haven't been told that he is not returning.' In my view, this is just a way they can avoid lying about the situation, when I suspect that there is by now little chance he will return. I first started going to this office because Dr. State was highly recommended to me. And I genuinely liked his work and patient interaction. Now, they have a replacement Periodontist, who in my opinion is nowhere near as skilled as Dr. State. That doctor performed some work on me (just a deep cleaning), and it was not a good experience. If and when I need further periodontal work in the future, I would *not* trust that replacement doctor to perform it. Unfortunately, my best guess is that Dr. State will not be returning, and so I am going to find another provider. One more thing: I had a regular cleaning scheduled for this week. I received a text on Monday informing me that I had reached the time threshold whereby if I cancelled my appointment, I could incur a cancellation charge. That's standard for dental offices, and it was fine. Yet then, today, one day before the appointment, I get a call that said my usual hygienist had quit the firm a few days ago (I wonder if she quit because of the whole situation at the office). I was told they couldn't find a replacement hygienist and asked if I wanted to reschedule. I find it ironic that they can just cancel the appointment with no repercussions, but if I had cancelled, I likely would have been charged some kind of fee. Regardless, this was the last straw for me. I have had to deal with a replacement periodontist, and they want me to deal with a replacement hygienist. So I am going to find an entire replacement office and take my business and dental care there. I would suggest you do the same.
