The workers making the sandwiches are RACIST & COMPLETELY ATROCIOUS! This is my second time coming in here and I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt initially but this is completely unacceptable. I ordered the sandwich I wanted and they got it wrong. This place is the make your own coffee/tea deli. So you can't order it at the register or counter. The food is great but I will not be going back until the tall Hispanic cook in the back no longer works there. Ever since the very first time I went to this place, that cook has been unpleasant and mildly disrespectful. He thinks of himself as the king of the grill and treats a selected few bad. This deli is near to my office and they have a lot of lunch options. Unfortunately, their salad bar is way too expensive at $12.99/lb. I have ordered salads from them three times. The first salad was good. The only negative was that they only offered small salads and they charge $11. I usually pay that price for a large salad. Their pre-made deli sandwiches are absolutely as good as that sandwich place you go to but less expensive and served up in 30 seconds. Their breakfast sandwiches are also very good (though no English Muffins, ho hum). But their buffet - dude I eat from that glorious buffet several times a week. There's loads of ready to eat stuff, a huge island in the middle for fresh buffet type salad food, which is 24/7 along with the store. My go-to spot for sandwiches near work. It's the best I've found in the are thus far. I like their attention to detail. Whole leaf romaine lettuce as opposed to shredded iceberg. Red onions as opposed to regular. Hey, it's all about the little details. Good quality ingredients and portion size for an extremely fair price. The selection wasn't huge, but it included such delights as balsamic roasted veggies, salmon fillets, spicy mushrooms, fresh tropical fruits, seaweed salad, and some regular salad greens. Of course, my medium styrofoam tray full came to about $14, but much of that was the salmon. So I won that hand! Everything in my tray tasted as good as it looked. The roasted veggies had that perfect hint of sweetness and were done just right, the tastiest being the Brussels sprouts. Spicy mushrooms and seaweed salad mixed strangely well together---yum! But the fall-apart tender, nonfishy salmon blew my mind. THIS is not your standard NYC deli salmon! Moreover there were no flies buzzing around any of the food inside. I was thinking of the hot and cold food bar but there was no pricing posted and since it was Midtown I thought it would be expensive especially since they didn't post the price. You know what they say- if you have to ask you probably can't afford it. So I check out their soup selection. They had chicken noodle and beef barley. It looked like they only had one size container. So I got a container of beef barley soup and a few beers to take home. The soup was $3. They bagged everything up individually.
