I was craving a freshly made sandwich amongst all the tourist restaurants with long lines and huge price tags. I came here and got a hot pastrami sandwich on Rye, a bag of chips, and a drink. It all rang up to over $20 but definitely worth it to get a fresh, simple meal, just what I wanted. I took it back to my hotel and enjoyed it. It was delicious and would have me returning if I was visiting longer. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because the prices were unclear and questioning them or gaining clarification felt unwelcome. Still, if you're comfortable with the NYC times square way of interacting with people, and you're confident or don't care about this, then it may be 5 stars for you. Great choice for a quick, delicious, "no frills" bite to eat, nearby but far enough away from the crazed crowds in the Times Square/Broadway area. We didn't have a lot of time to spare before our 2:30 Saturday Broadway matinee, so we brunched here and then took a quick walk over to the theater. Times Deli is located right in the heart of - you guessed it - Times Square and it's convenient for a quick bite if you're in the area. The menu is average for a NYC deli and it's priced pretty standard for where it's at. My mom and I both ordered a sandwich and it came out quickly. We thought the food was OK, nothing special. We sat in the back where there are some tables and chairs. I went to use the restroom and a man in a Luigi costume (assuming he's a character in Times Square who was on his break) stopped me and power-leveled me about not being able to use the restroom unless you're a paying customer. I happily informed him that I was, in fact, a paying customer and proceeded to the restroom. It was super bizarre and the dude didn't even work there. Fuck this place! The owner will rip you off. The price says $8 for a burger but the cashier/ owner charges you $13+tax. The food was disgusting and the biggest mistake was answering the staff when they asked me where I was from, i should have heeded the warning from the person who was in the shop telling the cooks in Spanish that he was charged $24 for a $7 sandwich. Im not sure why this place has such low reviews? I went to go see Harry Potter the other day and left starving! I stumbled upon this deli and saw that they had sandwiches so I popped in to try one. I got the how turkey sandwich and it was DELICIOUS! FULL of fresh turkey slices and you can add an assortment of veggies like lettuce and tomatoes. I also purchased a few drinks at the front and the owner was so nice! Im not sure why other reviews say he was rude because he was very nice and helpful to me and my dad. I can't believe no one has reviewed this place! DELICIOUS. I could eat here everyday. The prices are inexpensive for being right next to Times Square. They have everything! Sandwiches, wraps, rice, coffee, packaged snacks, fruit, etc. They have a hot/cold food bar where you can mix and match and they just charge you by the pound. You can sit and eat upstairs. The Times Deli, located right in Times Square, was our choice because we were hungry and needed somewhere to duck into. The selection of food inside was quite expansive. There was a hot buffet in the back but there was nobody partaking in it.....for good reason. That food looked like death warmed over. My wife braved it and got a salad from back there, which she later described as "possibly sour dressing" and it just tasted "suspect". I got a standard turkey sandwich and that was, for the most part, decent. The price was pretty good, but we were not really too impressed with our food. In search of some where to get a quick breakfast and staying just down the road at a hotel we decided to pop in here. It's a full convenience store and deli counter. They serve a good variety of breakfast items including full hot breakfasts, french toast, omlettes/eggs, sandwiches, bagels, croissants, fruits, yogurt, cereal, and hot and cold beverages. They have show plates of breakfasts they offer so you can actually see what your going to get. They also have a ton of seating in the back. There was a line up of about 6 people but it was moving pretty fast. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant. It was surprisingly really good. The cheese was soo goeey and melted perfectly, the thick cut ham was fresh and flavourful, and the croissant was super toasty and buttery. Hubby got the full breakfast which included hash browns, 2 eggs, a ton of bacon, and 2 slices of Texas toast. He thoroughly enjoyed it and was surprised by how generous they were with the bacon. The guys behind the counter were friendly and nice. The place is soo affordable my croissant was only $4.95 and his full breakfast was $5.95. My only regret was I wished I discovered this sooner or else we would have come here everyday for breakfast! read more
