I didn't realize HK had so many amazing Thai restaurants, but LumLum has become my go-to for Thai -…read more Crying Tiger (4.5/5) - can't believe I've lived my life without having tried crying tiger before...honestly more than the steak itself, the rice and sauce were so rich in flavor, I'd say pretty garlicky (which is very much up my alley). The only thing I'd say about this dish is that, based on the two times I've ordered it, I wish the steak came out more tender as it's all cooled off and slightly toughened by the time we eat it. Gang Fak Tong (5/5) - oh I was starstruck for this curry. I love all things pumpkin, so that + soft shell crab was literally the dish of my dreams. Disclaimer: I can tolerate a moderate level of spice, but this one really had a kick to it so maybe brace yourself. Pad Thai (5/5) - imo they were on a roll that day with the crying tiger and pumpkin curry, because I feel like it's hard for pad thai to stand out, but everything from the sauce to the noodles, literal fireworks of flavors. I think I'm hyping this too much now but just know she's worth. Som Tum Thai (4/5) - not the best papaya salad I've had because I personally like the ones that pack a punch with the acidity and tanginess, but this still did the job and delivered on the freshness and flavor that helps cut through any greasiness from the other plates This place fills up quickly but still had good service - food did take 15-30min for us so something to keep in mind.

Definitely an interesting variation of Thai food for sure. The ambiance was very tropical themed…read moremaking you feel like you're inside of a beach house in a tropical hot climate. Very ironic considering when we came, it was pouring rain out and extremely cold and we had the insides of this restaurant to take cover. We had cocktails: my partners cocktail had pop rocks in it. (Yes childhood memory unlocked). It added a nice texture and his drink tasted very much like candy. We got the steamed fish branzino which was very spicy- the soup was the star of the show. I had my usual crab fried rice and he had a steak and runny egg yolk on top of rice (forgot the name) but he said it was good. The servers were dressed tropically and the restaurant however was a tight space. It was overcrowded for sure and I wasn't able to hear my partner for the most part so it's definitely not a place for conversations, but it is for enjoyment!

The paper recipes don't 100% follow what the instructor is telling you, so definitely pay attention as they are demonstrating each step. We made fruit tarts and madeleines in this class, but the dessert menu rotates, so you can check which one interests you before you book ahead of time! They walk you through some of the baking techniques and it's a great hands-on experience. Whatever you bake you can try on the spot and they provide takeout boxes and bags for you to take the rest home. Highly recommend if you're looking for a group activity in the city!

I bought a class for my husband's birthday through CourseHorse and I'm so glad it brought us to this fantastic location to learn all about making macarons! I now appreciate why those tiny little cookies are so expensive! There is a lot of time and labor that goes into making them. We took a class on a Sunday afternoon with Chef Makenna, who by the way is very knowledgeable on cooking sciences, which my husband and I found fascinating as we are nerds at heart and loved learning about why everything was done the way it was and what the difference is between an Italian, French and Swiss meringue. She is also no-nonsense, which made me appreciate the class so much more. It was like taking an actual culinary course! The shop is quite small and they have 3-4 people to a table. I was slightly disappointed in this only because I had imagined my husband having a more solo hands-on experience for his birthday. It turned out to be fine and it was nice to meet new people and work together. Everything was pre-measured, the sugar was already boiling, and Chef Makenna made the meringue for us. The class is already almost three hours long, so I can understand why they do this in the interest of time. We were able to mix our ingredients, pick the color for the macarons and pipe our batter. We then worked together to make the lemon and caramel ganache filling which was fun. The strawberry filling is imported from France and was ready-to-go. I love that they sent us home with macaron templates for the baking sheet and the recipe and instructions (I highly doubt I'll make this on my own given all the tools you need and the amount of time it took). It was a fun class and I look forward to coming back to take the croissant class. I loved that we got to take home about 15 macarons each! They have a complimentary water, coffee and tea station and if you like you're also able to BYOB!

Lunch with appetizer/main entree costs only $30. Additional fee for a dessert and drinks. They have nice selections for their fixed menu . I picked the shrimp summer roll Thai style and Vietnamese pork chop with noodle and Chinese broccoli. I have never enjoyed my meal this much. A flavorful and enticing combo meal. We skipped dessert as we are already filled up by what we got. Our server was so great. Fast and friendly. She even volunteered to take our photo. My friends enjoyed their steak as their entree and rib for appetizer. The place is pretty neat especially its second floor with lots of chandeliers all over the dining area. It's a bit dark on our section . Sears and tables are old but still showing the used to be elegance of the place. Location is at the popular restaurant row. Will come back.
