They said it was extremely corroded and needed to be replaced. I am doing a bunch of renovations to my house right now, and decided it was time to replace the old pipe. I called around and got a few quotes that were pretty ridiculous, and one company wanted me to pay for them to come out and give me a quote, even though they are literally 1.9 miles away from my house! I finally called my plumber who has worked with my family for decades, but doesn't do this type of work. He recommended John. I called him up, and he came right over and gave me a very reasonable quote. I booked him the following week. His crew came out at 8:30am. He had told me that the water would be off for 4 to 6 hours, and that they would be done before 5pm. They turned off the water at around 10:30, and were done with the job by 1:30. I am beyond happy with their work! I have a xeriscape front yard with lots of big, sharp cactus. His crew worked around all my plants, and didn't leave a mark on any of them. My neighbor commented to me after the install was done that he couldn't tell that any work had been done. Always a good sign.

DO NOT USE JOHN NELSON…read more Bullet points: -RUDE -SCAMMER -DISGUSTING HUMAN BEING John himself is as rude and conceited as it gets. I arrived home to John walking my brother through a million reasons why a new water pipeline had to be installed after discovering a leak. After quietly observing the derogatory lectures he ranted on about, I listened as he quoted some crazy price and left. He called a short while later asking what we wanted to do, and my brother said that we were leaning towards capping it, even if it was a temporary fix as we needed the water back on. John told him he'd cap it today free of charge, but he needs $2300 cash upfront tomorrow for the major fix. As it seemed a ridiculous (cash) amount, we sought a second opinion. Another plumber called after reviewing the videos of the leak and although he couldn't make it, he was happy to provide a solution so that some other plumber (I.e. John) could-- take notes John, THAT'S good service. When my brother proposed the idea to John over the phone he responded "I thoroughly explained to you why we could or couldn't do that", again in a derogatory voice. You don't want to take the time to explain it again to someone who isn't a plumber? Okay fine, I guess I get it. At this point I told my brother that my fiancé was arriving in a couple hours, and he's capped pipes before, it shouldn't be a big deal if you want to wait for the other plumber to be available. I didn't want my brother to have to keep putting up with this rude individual. Again, over the phone--my brother says, "okay, my sister's fiancé's coming home soon and--" and before he could continue, John cuts him off and says "oh what? he's a handyman? then let him take care of it" and HANGS UP. but wait, there's more... my brother had just texted John before the phone call, proposing the solution that the other plumber had suggested. John obviously reads this late because he has the audacity to call back and when my brother picks up and politely addresses him, John aggressively says "so what do you want to do? I'll put a shorter nipple (the other plumber's suggestion) for $500" Confused, my brother said "what do you mean? You just hung up on me" and John ACKNOWLEDGES the fact that he hung up on him and says "I thought we were done" I was so angry I yelled at my brother to hang up. Yes, we're done John. You don't get our business and as long as I can help it, you won't be getting the business of anyone we know. You're a money-hungry scammer and I'm sorry for anyone that feels that they have to interact with you. The way you treat people is DISGUSTING and I'm genuinely embarrassed for you. Please see uploaded image(s). Based on the negative reviews, CLEARLY there is a pattern. The 5-star reviews look either fabricated or paid-for AND from my experience with these plumbers, I am NOT SURPRISED. MY STORY, if you have time to read it: I just bought a newly renovated house. I am a new homeowner. I had a gas leak in my new house when I first moved in. The gas company directed me to seek plumbers to change a broken valve and hose as they disconnected the gas. Al & Robin Torres were recommended by a realtor. I called them and someone came right away. What would have just been a simple repair from 2 plumbers, Craig and Rodrigo because an all day event with a manager, John, coming to my home. John began to explain that there was a gas leak, however it could not be accurately identified where it was with whatever magic device this company had. As a new homeowner, I took their recommendation and expertise seriously. He said they would have to come back the next day to do a loading test but it looked like they were also going to 1) recommend to change all the pipes, 2) get the city plans because they were going to have to break down some walls, or 3) if we really wanted to find out where the gas leak was, they were going to have to tear open the new flooring in the house. They did change the hose and valve that was initially recommended by the Gas Company. John said, "Do you make the financial decisions in the house? Or should we wait until you and your partner are together?" I asked, "Does it matter? How much are we looking?" He said, "Well, I will have to do the loading test and you know what, I will have to get back to you on that. Tomorrow, I'll get back to you with that." The next day, there was no loading test. The water heater was drained and left unsecured for multiple days. I was given an estimate 2 days later with lacking information. When I asked for an itemized receipt or some type of itemization for their recommendation of changing all the pipes and how much labor costs, the response I got from the owner, Robin was, "We're a contracting company and we don't do that." THE ESTIMATE THAT THEY PROVIDED IS A SHORT PARAGRAPH OF THEIR PLAN (that doesn't explain or have any pricing as to how they come up with a total amount). They quoted me $8860.00 (not counting breaking down the walls and getting the city permits). I called the Gas Company again to reassess for a gas leak. * * * THERE WAS NO GAS LEAK FOUND. * * * This plumbing company, especially all the people I interacted with (Craig, John and Robin Torres) LIED. Their recommendation was intentionally inaccurate. This is UNETHICAL. I was with no gas, no heat and initially no water (they shut off the water for reasons that are unclear) for 1 week in a new home. Robin Torres was rude at one point when I asked for the rationale of having the water heater not placed back and secured with brackets. She said, "Well, what are you afraid of, an earthquake?" regarding the water heater that was left unhooked with no safety measurements reattached. VERY CONDESCENDING and UNNECESSARY. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO DEAL WITH PEOPLE THAT HAVE A HISTORY OF TERRIBLE SERVICE (price gouging, lying to customers and inappropriate communication/insulting behavior to customers). ASK YOUR FAMILY OR FRIENDS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS FROM AN ESTABLISHMENT THAT WOULD NOT DO THIS TO YOUR FAMILY OR FRIENDS.
