Clams were fresh. The dish came w the bread and sauce was rich. The wait staff was nice. A little on the pricey side.

The best oysters come from here!

I woke up late today and by the time I was ready for my breakfast it was way past 3 pm. I craved metallic aftertaste of an oyster complimented by the glass of wine. Was comparing few seafood restaurants and the brut de mer won, since it was just 10 min away from my home. Walked over and was greeted by the lovely bartender, while waiting for my handsome date I ordered the oyster taster (6 oysters) when he arrived we got him his own oyster platter as well. Then I wanted to taste the scallops that were divine and a half of lobster. All of this and 3 glasses of wine was about 100 euro. Loved the intimate atmosphere and attentive service. Highly recommend to avoid the evening rush and just skip the work to enjoy the gifts from the sea. Live a little. Have an oyster!

Definitely miss this place. I did a good amount of walking (from Jordaan to De Pijp) as it was a beautiful day and I wanted to explore. I went to the markets and browsed around for quite some time and worked up an appetite. I luckily noticed their sign for oysters outside and immediately went in on the whim. Not a huge establishment (about 30 seats inside including bar; outdoors seating available too) but perfect environment for what I wanted. I came a bit too early for dinner so I enjoyed oysters at the bar which were heaven. If anyone was watching me I probably looked crazy but I was appreciating the taste and the moment. :) I love the restaurant scene and have frequented my share of oyster bars and the gentleman behind the bar was knowledgeable and full of charisma; embodying the true fashion of The Oyster Man. As the dinner rush started to come in, a couple locals beside me asked where I was from and what brought me to the restaurant. (3 week trip from New York to Europe solo). I simply just said "I wandered and just came in. It's totally up my alley." This is a local gem and in the heart of the neighborhood and I was happy to know my afternoon journey led me here. I treated myself with a couple glasses of bubbles and then I decided to indulge in their Steak tartare with caviar. Beautifully presented. I wanted to stay and eat the whole menu but I decided to just enjoy the experience for what it was and make it a future stop when I visit again. Keep doing what you guys do! Cheers!

Thai soft shell (after I shuffled it about with my fork). Just a light snack.

Popped in for a quick bite. Had a glass of picpoul de pinet gaujal. Fruity and aromatic. Also had the Thai softshell crab. Although it was friend, it was light and delicious.

A scene in the Pijp District. Amazing seafood dishes. Oysters

When we were turned away by a near by Korean restaurant, this place caught my eyes so we walked in feeling very hangry. We were immediately served by lovely staff who were very busy with this packed place. Surprised by so much flavor in oysters and mussels, we couldn't help looking around what ladies next seats were eating; a giant seafood platter made me drool. It was a very local place and with very beautiful local people. Life is good here.

We made a reservation to celebrate a friend's engagement, and so we got to say "one of each!" to every plate. They were so accommodating with dietary restrictions, and carefully mapped out which plates I could have, while adjusting others as possible. Every plate had amazing sauces, so we really put "fare la scarpetta" to work with our bread. Some standouts that we all loved were the langoustine with sweetbread and the eggplant with miso. The atmosphere was cozy and made us reluctant to leave at the end. Thank you, Gertrude, for an amazing dinner. We'll definitely be back!

We were seated outdoors on their charming terrace, facing the street, which is jammed with fun street-side restaurants. Plenty of people watching! We were having a great time and it was clear that the rest of the guests were, too. It felt like a chic and delightful party. The absolute highlight of our meal was the fresh French artichoke, which was nearly as big as my head. That I could have one served to me this minute! It was the BEST I have ever had, and I'm crazy about artichokes. Lamentably, it was served with a bland mayonnaise (or was it a bland Hollandaise?), while it was begging for something acidic (artichokes are alkaline in flavor), so I asked for a vinaigrette. They brought me the mignonette sauce for oysters, instead. Better, but not much. Everything else I sampled was good, but I would go back many times over and simply gorge on artichokes. So would everybody else, from what I could see. Every single table ordered one or more. Gertrude's encourages family-style sharing, and the focus is on dishes that showcase the flavors of a few simple ingredients. There is room for improvement. With just a few tweaks, this place might deserve a Michelin star.

Explore everything here! We came to Dutch Delicacy on pure accident, as we were walking around and saw that they had a ton of different goudas for sale. In the front part of the store is a take-out counter where they sell hot items, like sandwiches and baked pastries and desserts, like cheesecakes and cookies the size of your face! It all looked appealing and would've totally purchased a food item, had we not had lunch beforehand. Throughout the store were the cheese samples of the many different various kinds. It goes beyond what you thought gouda could be. There are sheep's and goat's cheeses for many of the different types. There are pesto cheeses that come in different colors like a bright blue and pink. There are cheeses that pair well with the dips that had me thinking about my next dinner party. There's Dutch chocolate here for sale. There's different knives for cutting cheese. There's truly everything here you could imagine for your gouda-filled meal. Staff was super friendly and asked if we needed any help or wanted to know more about any of the different cheeses. For sale, a lot of the goudas are pre-packaged for a pound and meets airline security measures for taking it home with you. I'm glad we stumbled upon Dutch Delicacy. We were able to try so many different cheeses, which I found a few for home. I recommend for anyone visiting Amsterdam to make a stop here; there's a lot of items you'll want to take home with you.
