    Elderflower desserts!

Foie gras, elderflower dessert? Say no more ! I have a love for French food and natural wines. The Chenin blanc at this place, their sparkling vines were amazing. Thank you for hosting ! Will come back You overlook the street, perfect for people watching in the summery days in Amsterdam. Thank you Erica and Rex !!

There's a deep-fried protein under that delicious pile of kale. The kale stole the show.

I had a 24 hour layover in Amsterdam. Wandered into this joint in the main hipster area and was treated to an amazing 5 course meal i.e. "menu du chef à cinq plats." My server Anna gave an amazing description of each plate - I took pictures so that will have to do.

Lovely place, great ambiance and service. Great wine list, featuring local wines. The food was fresh and servings were a nice size, but lacked flavor. The combo (price fix) and chef's selections are a nice deal, but all in your party need to get it, as it's not shareable.

My seven course meal in Amsterdam was one of my top 20 restaurants in the world. It started with oysters ,two different kinds, from Normandy France. The following dish was a poached lobster with a side salad of delicious vegetables from the local market. Then, a delicious poached egg with caviar. The chefs(4 of them as you can see in one of the pics) made a superb dish of pumpkin and mushrooms . These were all served with the accompaniment of a Spanish white wine, albariño. The 4 hour enjoyment of culinary excellence continued with a delicious duck and potato plate and then quail in a well created sauce that was so good, I had to order a piece of bread to scoop it up. The final plate was a dessert of a delicate flakey waffle and a local nut gelato. These were all accompanied by a sophisticated red wine from France , a Saint Emilion Gran Cru.

I was walking around downtown Amsterdam and noticed this restaurant. The kitchen is the "open concept type" and next to the front window. So from the street you can see the chefs working. I checked the reviews online and they were good. I also booked online using open table but when I got to the restaurant, they said they had not gotten the reservation. This is the second time this happened to me in Europe with open table. The restaurant was able to find us a table. There were four of us and we chose to start with the caviar and the French Charcuterie plate as appetizers. The caviar was served with creme fraiche and blinis. Great caviar. The French charcuterie plate had two aged hams and two saucisson sec (French salamis). Yummy and served with real French bread. The main courses were braised beef, guinea fowl and the daily fish special. Everyone raved about their food! The wine was a nice Sauvignon Blanc but the highlight of the meal was the food.

Great meal. French bistro that was just a tad on the salty side but overall good. You get olives to start then a good basket of bread and salted butter. Service was ok but not great. Escargot 9.50 was good to share. The duck confit special with Cherry gastrique and fried polenta was excellent. The salad on the plate helped cut the fat. 24 euros but a fairly generous portion. The lamb steak 23.50 euros with lavender gravy was tender and delicious. Intimate and cozy when dining in the back. Within a 7 min walk from central station.

Walked in, no reservation. Awesome wine & entree suggestions. Impeccable service. Good price as well. Note: tip not included in bill - I did not discover this until I was reviewing my receipts after returning.

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and it was a fantastic experience. We started with oysters (and birthday prosecco), and a small charcuterie plate. Delicious! Then a round of warm starters- escargots and bouillabaise. The soup was PHENOMENAL. I will probably order it as a main next time. We shared a cote de boeuf as a main. It is the second best cote de boeuf I've had, but there is stiff competition. Afterwards we had a crème brûlée to share. Really good. We highly recommend the Sancerre white wine. I am not a wine expert but my boyfriend grew up in the wine trade, and he made a solid choice. It was incredible. It's not the cheapest, but I paid pretty much what I expected for a meal of that calibre in this city.

It doesn't get any friendlier, beautiful, or special as this bistro. Went there twice this week. Service was better each time.

We made a reservation to celebrate a friend's engagement, and so we got to say "one of each!" to every plate. They were so accommodating with dietary restrictions, and carefully mapped out which plates I could have, while adjusting others as possible. Every plate had amazing sauces, so we really put "fare la scarpetta" to work with our bread. Some standouts that we all loved were the langoustine with sweetbread and the eggplant with miso. The atmosphere was cozy and made us reluctant to leave at the end. Thank you, Gertrude, for an amazing dinner. We'll definitely be back!

We were seated outdoors on their charming terrace, facing the street, which is jammed with fun street-side restaurants. Plenty of people watching! We were having a great time and it was clear that the rest of the guests were, too. It felt like a chic and delightful party. The absolute highlight of our meal was the fresh French artichoke, which was nearly as big as my head. That I could have one served to me this minute! It was the BEST I have ever had, and I'm crazy about artichokes. Lamentably, it was served with a bland mayonnaise (or was it a bland Hollandaise?), while it was begging for something acidic (artichokes are alkaline in flavor), so I asked for a vinaigrette. They brought me the mignonette sauce for oysters, instead. Better, but not much. Everything else I sampled was good, but I would go back many times over and simply gorge on artichokes. So would everybody else, from what I could see. Every single table ordered one or more. Gertrude's encourages family-style sharing, and the focus is on dishes that showcase the flavors of a few simple ingredients. There is room for improvement. With just a few tweaks, this place might deserve a Michelin star.

Explore everything here! We came to Dutch Delicacy on pure accident, as we were walking around and saw that they had a ton of different goudas for sale. In the front part of the store is a take-out counter where they sell hot items, like sandwiches and baked pastries and desserts, like cheesecakes and cookies the size of your face! It all looked appealing and would've totally purchased a food item, had we not had lunch beforehand. Throughout the store were the cheese samples of the many different various kinds. It goes beyond what you thought gouda could be. There are sheep's and goat's cheeses for many of the different types. There are pesto cheeses that come in different colors like a bright blue and pink. There are cheeses that pair well with the dips that had me thinking about my next dinner party. There's Dutch chocolate here for sale. There's different knives for cutting cheese. There's truly everything here you could imagine for your gouda-filled meal. Staff was super friendly and asked if we needed any help or wanted to know more about any of the different cheeses. For sale, a lot of the goudas are pre-packaged for a pound and meets airline security measures for taking it home with you. I'm glad we stumbled upon Dutch Delicacy. We were able to try so many different cheeses, which I found a few for home. I recommend for anyone visiting Amsterdam to make a stop here; there's a lot of items you'll want to take home with you.
