After the second makeup artist couldn't make it due to an unexpected emergency, Rachel stepped up and did makeup for the bride plus 10 other ladies by herself. Not only did everyone look gorgeous, but she also got it all done in record time so that we could still get through all of the scheduled photos before ceremony. I had been hesitant to get a haircut for over six months after having a bad experience at a different salon, so after doing some online research, I ended up at Brush. The biggest appeal was that they were open on Sundays and after I called to see if they had an opening that day, I was pleased to learn they could get me in! From the moment I spoke with the receptionist to the time I arrived, I had a great feeling about my experience because of their excellent customer service. When I arrived for my appointment, I was greeted with warmth and familiarity even though it was my first time there! They were incredibly kind and attentive, and the salon itself was a beautiful venue. The best part of my whole experience was my cut with Erin. She was absolutely phenomenal! She asked me exactly what I wanted, offered professional advice that put me at ease and did an amazing job on my haircut. She was efficient while also being meticulous at the same time, and styled it so beautifully. I'm so excited and relieved that I've finally found a salon staff that won't give me anxiety every time I need my hair cut. This review has been long overdue. Dealing with Brush salon's ridiculous deposit policy was a complete nightmare. I'd have to say that out of all of my salon experiences, this would have to be the worst. I am not new to the salon life just for the simple fact that I come from LA and OC. I've been to the best out there. Its now been two years since I moved up and at the time I'd heard about this place, I had just moved into this small town. I was in dire need of building a new relationship with a salon that could maintain my hair color and style needs. A girlfriend had recommended Brush from another chic she knew, so I thought I'd check them out. I was quite surprised after the first impression. Boujee vibe with zero diversity. I had my appointment to have a consult with Kaitlyn. I am not the type to automatically assume a "Master" stylist can master my hair. I have probably the hardest hair to color. Its not a joke. My original consult was to lighten my hair and cut it short. Kaitlyn was impressionable, but she had an attitude already. I was her first consult of the day. Mind you, she had me wait an additional 20 minutes, which made me late for another appointment I had after. We discussed a plan and so upon leaving and making an appointment, they asked for a $100 deposit. I mean, this is not normal especially because I am expected to assume that I would be happy with the results. Brush requires so much from their clients. Not only are you supposed to take the time to do a consult, you have to pay in advance to lock an appointment they say will cost a minimum $300. Furthermore, in order for me to not lose my deposit, I needed to cancel a day in advance. The first time I cancelled, I did it before 24 hours. This is listed on their website under Brush Salon's policy. Apparently I needed to also reschedule in order to not loose my $100 deposit so a couple more times I was forced to have to cancel and reschedule. Their policy has definitely caused more of a problem and nuisance. The commitment is so much to ask for from the client, then making me feel pressured to reschedule for the sake of not loosing $100. It is not a small amount of money by any means. I always felt stressed that I had to reschedule so I wouldn't loose the freaking deposit. It's obvious their target market is high-end. Its not a bad thing, just don't punish clients for trying to work around your ridiculous policy. I probably walked away safe knowing my hair wasn't going to be damaged. My experience here is one of the worst I've ever had and has climbed its way to the very top. Loosing money on a hair deposit is a total loss. I was scammed. read more

Caitlin was amazing! I had an early appointment (8am) which was awesome and a lot of locations don't offer. The salon is a super nice and relaxing atmosphere, with great views of the square. I had previously gone to another stylist and though what she did was nice it wasn't what I wanted. Caitlin listened to what I wanted and delivered fantastic results! She was quick, professional and super easy to chat with. The assistant who was helping her was super sweet and did a great job too (I can't remember her name but she was great) The appointment included a hand massage while waiting for the color to process, and it was magical. Overall I was nervous about the high price tag not delivering what I wanted (which happened at my previous location) but it was so worth it. read more

I'll start this review out by saying this is Sarah Ray, not William - but we are using one account for all of our wedding vendor reviews :) I used Brush salon (on location at my wedding venue) for my bridal hair and makeup, and also for my bridesmaids' hair and makeup AND my mom's. The did an absolutely beautiful job and Kalya, Jackie, and Julia were just SO sweet to work with. I've uploaded some photos to show what an amazing job they did! My makeup stayed on all day and night. The hairdo was everything I wanted. It got a bit fuzzy by the end of the night, but that was to be expected, and partly by design as it was a "messy" updo. Each of the bridesmaids did something different on hair and makeup, and the girls from Brush made it easy for them to choose and be flexible - they gave great ideas, too! It was a bit challenging to communicate with them leading up to the wedding, but I will admit this is partly my fault as my mom had initially booked them, and I wanted them to communicate with me but it took asking them a few times before they would email me directly. We also got conflicting information about whether we were supposed to pay for the preview immediately at the preview or at the wedding - so it was a bit awkward to have them yell at us down the hall "you didn't pay yet!" when we had been told it would all be together at the end. But, not a big deal at all. One other issue was that I had emailed the salon owner telling her explicitly I didn't want to pay for eyelash extensions for each bridesmaid (these things add up so quickly...) and then on the day of, she started putting them on a bridesmaid. Again, a bit awkward to tell her to stop because I hadn't agreed to pay for it, but not a big deal. All in all, a couple small awkward interactions with the salon but the girls doing the hair and makeup did SUCH a fabulous job and I'm really happy I worked with them. read more

So it pains me to leave this review. If I were rating just the salon alone, I'd give it 5 stars. The space is beautiful, my appointment was on time, and the reception staff was great. However, I received the worst blowout I've ever had in my life. So admittedly, I've got "black hair" what with being a biracial woman and all. However, this has never seemed to present a problem for the staff at literally every other blowout bar and salon I've ever been to in my life. I've had enough blowouts in my life to know how one is supposed to go, and this was not it. It would have been one thing if the technique was bad, but I can't believe the stylist legit thought that my hair looked even remotely ok when it was all said and done and felt like maybe she was just hoping I would be none the wiser. I also felt like the stylist was rushing to get to the appointment after me (booked at 30 minute intervals), who just happened to be my friend. It was so bad that after I attempted to fix it with a half-up hairspray situation, my BF said "I'm glad you fixed it. It looks so much better now, but I didn't want to make you feel bad." Basically, I left holding back tears of rage and frustration because my hair was such a mess. If you guys "don't do black hair" in 2018, you should make that more clear. read more

My friend contracted this salon for her wedding, bridesmaids hair & makeup. This place is extremely over priced. The makeup was nothing special, I could've done it better myself. You couldn't even see it. The hair was okay but within the hour my curls were dissolving. The other bridesmaids with updos were falling apart right away. They also charged $30+ for hair pins they put in your hair. Which they never put in mine but decided to add anyways. Additionally they add a 20% gratuity fee. I left two stars because my hair was ok. read more

Caitlin, Caitlin, Caitlin! She brought my hair from drab to fab in just one sitting. After having kids, I hadn't been spending any time on myself. A few years ago I had went from being blonde my whole life to being a brunette and after having kids it stayed that way due to the ease of it. I finally felt it was time for some me time and Caitlin was completely there for me. She is a color specialist who mainly works with Blondes and she did a fantastic job. She said it would be a process but even after the first phaise I felt happy to get back to being blonde. The salon is beautiful with its large windows that over look the Healdsburg square and all of its trees. Its very relaxing and like all Aveda salons, they have great service, yummy tea and espresso to sip on while your locks are being tended to, and a head message during your service for a little extra unwind. I love this place. I've lived all over the country and have been to many many hair salons and stylists. It was super hard to find a stylist that is good at cut and color until I found Kayla. My hair is always radiant and on trend. The color stays bright for at least 12 weeks and my cuts grow out perfectly. She is excellent. I also want to give a big shout out for Morgan at the scheduling desk. She can make the impossible happen. My schedule is crazy and she manages to squeeze me in. She's a miracle worker. read more

Every single time I leave Brush I feel and look like a million dollars! I have been getting my hair cut at Brush for just over two years now and I can't imagine going anywhere else. Their staff is amazing; professional, creative, intuitive, friendly and so skilled. Every time you walk in you are treated like a welcome friend and they really listen to what you are looking for. I really do feel that they are miracle workers. The prices are very reasonable and each visit is a great experience of pampered bliss. I have never had a less than wonderful experience at Brush and can only hope they expand up to Washington state in the future! David especially is incredible. He has a knowledge and skill base that really shows in all of the cuts I have seen and personally experienced. He can help you find a style that flatters and works well with your style. He also makes sure you understand how to create the same looks at home without a lot of fuss =) Huge plus for me since I'm not a fan of fussy maintenance. It is great knowing that my hair will look the same even after I shower and arrange it at home. I only wish I didn't have to come down from Washington every time I need a cut! A fabulous choice for my bridal party getting ready spot! We had a few communication issues to start out with but I was clear with my expectations and WOW they really made our day beautiful. My six bridesmaids and I as well as a few other wedding attendees got our hair and makeup done here the day of. We brought in beverages and breakfast and really got the full beautiful treatment. Let me start off by saying that they treat their customers and clients amazing! They have an absolutely beautiful salon with a super cool view off Healdsburg Avenue. As a dude I am absolutely lost when it comes to hair and going to a "salon" isn't my typical thing. I finally had enough of hitting great clips so I decided to give it a try. I heard through the grapevine that Kelsey is the girl to go to so I gave them a call and had an appointment scheduled. When I got there I was absolutely taken back by the hospitality of the hostess and the overall atmosphere of the salon. Absolutely amazing. Again, as a dude I am not used to all that pampering, so when they greeted me with a Mimosa, had me dress in a robe and then give me a scalp massage/shampooing, I damn near pissed myself with joy. I set up an appointment with Shannon to get NBR extensions and she did an AMAZING job! NBR's have changed my life I've always been self conscious of my hair, it was dry, brittle, thin and didn't grow past my shoulders. Now I have gorgeous, fuller, longer hair without the damage of tape in or glue in extensions. AND it blends beautifully with my natural hair. My overall experience at Brush was phenomenal, I was offered a glass of champagne as soon as I walked in and before I left I was given a care package for my new extensions and at home directions for how to take care of the hair. The cut was an ok cut, but it was not what I asked for, which left me pretty frustrated when leaving. I don't make a heck of a lot of money, so when I do finally decide its time to take my mop in to get a bit of style I come prepared. I presented a picture, of myself, in the cut I wanted, from three different angles, so I hope that explains why I'm so dissapointed. There was decent communication at first with the shorter side of my cut, but the longer side, the side that needs more detail with style felt rushed and there for left me with a cut not resembling my picture at all... I had a haircut by Elise. I don't normally review salons, but this experience was exceptional. It began with a moment of relaxation (neck scalp, shoulder massage with Aveda essential oils) and concluded with a gorgeous haircut. I never really know what I should do with my hair, but I know how I want to feel. She asked the right questions to figure out what I wanted even though I didn't think I knew. She understood that I like my length but had concerns that my hair was looking thin. My hair now looks full and healthy and she showed me how to achieve the look she had given me with a round brush and blowdryer at home. Love, love, love everything about my experience! Brush Salon was an absolute dream come true for my wedding. I initially booked them for a May 2020 wedding and it was postponed due to the pandemic. They continued to work with me for 2 weddings. 1) a small 15 person ceremony and 2) a large 100 guest wedding celebration. both times i was in love with my hair and makeup. Daniella and Emma were incredible to work with-very organized, responsive, reliable, detail oriented, communicative, and great listeners. They provided me with their top notch hair and makeup artists Kayla and Lexie, both of whom were incredible. All my bridesmaids were so happy with the outcomes. Went here for my bridal hair and makeup, and my bridesmaids got their hair done (updos)! It surely was NOT cheap, but everyone's hair looked great and my makeup lasted throughout the night!! Kels was wonderful and made my thin hair look thick and luscious in an updo! Janet did a great job with my makeup, made it look natural and let my freckles show through! She also has amazing brows herself and made mine look awesome! I was satisfied :) They're super busy on the weekends, so our bridal party was split between two rooms most of the time, which was OK because we had a private space to keep our stuff. There are bathrooms that bridesmaids can use to do their makeup if they aren't getting it done, which worked well for us. read more

Brush is my absolute favorite salon! Everyone is always extremely accommodating and really make you feel comfortable while you're there. I am always offered a beverage as soon as I arrive and they even keep it refilled for me! Kelsey has been doing my hair for a couple years now and I can't see myself going to anyone else. I am never too sure what I want and she can give great suggestions and makes sure I'm happy with what we decide on as we go through my cut and color.
