I'm new to this area and decided to give Brush a try to get some color to my hair. Shelly was my hair artist and she did an excellent job! I was somewhat indecisive but gave her an idea of what I was looking for, and that was enough to get her mixing the colors and do her thing! She is very talented and definitely experienced! Luis Thomas cut my hair. I'm too embarrassed to go into public areas. He cut the right side of my head to within 1/2 inch. I look terrible with very short hair. I'm 71 years old, always worn short hair but have never gotten a haircut this terrible. It will take 6 months to grow back. There may be some other good stylists in the shop. I won't return to find out. I'm sympathetic with hairdressers and the difficulty of the job. I tip 50% and feel that is generous. Luis is trained and capable. He's just not reliable. read more

It was my first experience dyeing my hair and I wanted a natural looking balayage done. I worked with Tammy to achieve a look that was both gorgeous and subtle enough that my mom couldn't complain about. I went to Brush for the first time last week after getting my hair color botched by another salon. I called in a panic as a first-time client not sure what to do, and their friendly receptionist immediately put me at ease and scheduled me to come in the following afternoon to see Tammy. Tammy greeted me when I arrived and was warm, friendly and professional, but most of all talented. She quickly toned and colored my over-processed blonde back into a normal color. I was worried that getting more color on top of the bleach the other salon had used would damage my hair, but Tammy assured me that the organic color she was using wouldn't damage my hair. The salon is small and is very busy looking. I do find watching the fashion shows somewhat relaxing though. My experience was backstage at a runway Vintage Chic fashion show at the Wadsworth Atheneum - spoiled by Mr. Bobby Scott himself for hair and Miss Jessica Sawtelle Imbriglio for makeup - where I was glowing and runway ready at speeds of which only the most experienced artists are capable. I've got a rather limp, neck-length crop of overly heat-ironed hair that Bobby somehow managed to sculpt into a delicate and timely piece that fit perfectly with the floor-length, lace, gothic gown I featured. Jessica is the first makeup artist I've ever encountered that made my oh-so imperfect skin glow in seconds without the typical photoshoot cakeon I've come to expect. Diana rocks a haircut and blow out.. I've found my new salon. It is never easy to move from out of State and locate a hair salon that knows what they are doing. I went to Sephora and asked the beautiful salespeople where is the place to have your hair done and this is where I was sent. I tried more expensive, more high end rent location and the owner was rude and pushy and the staff was overwhelmed with a person like me who knows what to expect from a great stylist. I'm a new customer and had never been here before... I actually found them through yelp! I called for a haircut and got right in for an appointment with Andrea. My hair was so long and had so many dead ends I hid it under a baseball cap when I came in for my cut. I explained to her that I was a bit nervous, my cousin who is a hairdresser has been cutting my hair my whole life, and I have long hair that I prefer to keep long. I told her exactly what I was looking for and she delivered! She was super friendly and sociable and definitely listened to my requests. My hair looks and feels SO healthy! After moving to Connecticut from Florida last fall I had a very difficult time finding a stylist . Went to Brush for the first time yesterday after my previous hair stylist messed up my haircut and highlights. I've fixed the highlights myself by coloring my hair black, but need a stylist to fix my haircut. Brush is a very nice place with friendly people. Bobby tried to save my hair and made it better, but the damage was done by my previous stylist, so he can only do so much, but still I look better after he is done. I like him and will be seeing him again in 6 weeks, will update my review then. But overall I like the atmosphere there. read more

New to town and needed a trim and color for my tired hair. Found this salon on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I'll start off with saying that I'm pretty low maintenance with my hair- I don't like spending lots of time styling every day, and also don't want to be back in the chair for coloring every 4 weeks. After describing my laziness with hair care, Tammy gave my hair a trim and updated my long layers, and then evened out my color. I had previous coloring from about 6 months previous that made the ends of my hair slightly lighter than my roots. She colored my roots to hide my grey hairs and added some subtle highlights to even out my overall color... It was perfect! It was the closest coloring to my natural hair color that I've had yet, so much so that my boyfriend and close friends didn't notice I had colored my hair (which is a huge plus for me as I was going for subtle color). Tammy was excellent and did a great job at giving me a great style and color... It's been about a week now and I'm completely happy with everything! The salon is clean, cute and has a fun vibe. Everyone was super friendly- if you're in town and are in need of hair styling or color, I absolutely would recommend Brush! read more
