I used to really like Muse, but my most recent experience at Muse left a lot to be desired. I went…read morefor a partial balayage touch up after having grown out my hair without any glazing or maintenance for the past 6 months. The balayage had grown in beautifully and I had no complaints other than wanting to redo the roots and darken the color since it lightened up over time. Chelsea had done such an excellent job before, and I was excited to book my touch up with her. Everything was fine until Chelsea blew out my hair and it came out way too light-lighter than the color I had come in with. She drastically overlightened my hair and had to glaze me twice-something I don't think either of us were expecting. After the second glaze the final color was improved but still seemed to miss the mark of what I hoped to achieve. In any case, a week goes by and I notice that my hair lightened up several shades with brassy undertones after only 2 washes with a color safe shampoo. I was confused considering I just had it darkened. When I called to express that I was unhappy with the color, the manager quickly got in contact with me and offered to fit me in the same day to correct it. When I came into the salon, Chelsea had already mixed the colored glaze before seeing my hair or discussing it with me. She didn't ask me what my concerns were and immediately had someone else apply the glaze to my hair. After Chelsea glazed me again, the color was improved but inexplicably light/blond in certain areas. She applied a bit more of the glaze to some of the lighter portions which helped improve the color a bit more. When I asked if she could dry me with a curl instead of drying straight she very tersely told me "I don't have time and this is free so..." as if I hadn't paid ~$300 10days prior for a coloring service that failed to meet my goals. She also didn't finish drying my hair and only dried the front sending me out with damp hair in the back of my head. I left the salon upset about how much time and money was wasted on a frustrating experience with mixed results. This experience has turned me off to this salon. I will not be returning for services in the future. The good: responsive management The bad: inconsistent service with unprofessional/borderline rude stylists and high price tags

With that being said, Sahar was recommended to me by a friend for color and I decided to take the chance. I had never dyed my hair before and was so, so nervous, but I wanted something different (and needed to cover up some grays!). From the time I walked in, Sahar was so sweet (as were the others in the salon) and she spent time really listening to what I wanted and my concerns. She gave me the perfect blonde highlights to ease me into coloring my hair. Fast forward a few months, I decide to add some red, she does it perfectly! Recently, I wanted purple (I know, I know but I had many years of catching up to do!) and oh my it's exactly what I wanted. Subtle enough to remain "professional" but colorful enough to give me an edge. Plus, she recommends quality products and teaches you how to take good care of your color. That to me is going above and beyond for your clients. This review is long overdue, but I HIGHLY recommend Sahar for hair color. I've sent a bunch of friends to her over the last year and all have made her their go-to! She's sweet, attentive, and incredibly talented!!

Never in my life have I felt compelled to leave a negative review - until i visited Randy at All Is…read moreVanity and unknowingly sat while he SUPER GLUED extensions into my hair. I had a consultation with Randy in early August of this year, where we agreed I would be receiving 24" extensions to add length to my hair. When i asked about what technique would be used to install them, Randy insisted that his technique was special and secretive. On August 30th I received cut, color, and extension services from him .But when the service ended it was nothing like what we had agreed on. After 8+ hours of work, my hair was still shoulder length, sloppily cut, and my scalp was in immense pain. Randy put 100+ micro braids into my hair and used SUPERGLUE to hold them in place. After 8 hours of work my hair looked exactly the same as it did upon entering. Randy suggested I could come back the following day to have the service "fixed". When no visible change was made I confronted him and he began to curse me out and threaten to call police on me if i did not pay him $1300 for the failed service. When I showed him that there was no difference from the "before" photo i took before the appointment, he told me I was lying and yelled at me to "get the fuck out". To top all this, Randy ordered hair for me that he insisted was real human hair and charged $500 for. A quick test with a hot iron showed that it was actually synthetic hair, and i was straight-up scammed out of $500. Mere days after the service, I had CHUNKS of extensions falling out of my hair as the glue disintegrated (extensions that Randy told me would last for months). I was forced to quickly find a REAL professional who was forced to use harsh chemicals to soak the literal superglue out of my hair, pick out clumps of glue, and completely re-do the initial "extensions" using a REAL technique - IBE. It is currently November 19th (almost 3 months later) and there are still matted sections of my hair covered in CHUNKS of Superglue because of the 'work' done by Randy Fotia. I have not been able to run a hairbrush through my hair for MONTHS because of this dude. Please run. I cannot stress enough what an absolute hair nightmare i experienced after 1 day in this salon. I trusted all of the amazing reviews only to leave looking like Raggedy Ann. For the love of god do not let this person touch your head. Attached are pictures of my hair and scalp, complete with time stamps to the day of the service at All is Vanity. Before, After, a closeup of superglue / braids on my scalp, and a timestamped photo of the extensions falling out within 2-4 days of the "permanent" extension service i received here. Last pic shows the 22" extensions I ultimately ended up getting installed at a different salon with real, trained professionals. They look nothing like the fake hair that was superglued into my scalp at All Is Vanity salon.

Randy at All Is Vanity went several better than Not A Mullet and gave me a lovely haircut that actually has shape and makes me feel that I am no longer drowning in a mass of hair (especially good as I'm trying to grow said mass out). At $60 plus tip it wasn't cheap (huge understatement alert) but I only get my hair cut about once a year so I figure I can swing it. I made an appointment with Randy mostly because I liked the name of his shop, and I'm very glad I did.

Receptionist asked if she can assign me with someone else. I said anyone but Jimmy (owner). My son and I had him once before and he did not do a good job. When I walked in today, they gave me Leo. He took over Allen's station. I asked for 2" off with lots of layers to give my hair some volume since I have very thin hair. Leo showed me how much he would cut off and I gave him the go ahead. I thought Asians are supposed to be great at math but holy shhhh he started cutting and cutting and cutting and it got shorter and shorter. At this point it was hard for me to say something. Pretty sure that he cut off FIVE whole inches. Not only did he cut off 5" but the layers he gave me were very choppy, it looks like he hacked it with a saw. The receptionist came by to sweep up my hair with a dust pan and my eyes were bugging out because I was in shock at how much he cut off. I spend an obscene amount on high quality hair products at home to keep my hair healthy. Now it looks like shhhh. Never in my entire life have I ever gotten such a bad cut. I know it's just hair and it will grow back but I felt I need to write this review to warn others. When layers are trimmed, it should fall softy and naturally. He also thinned out my ends so much that it looks weird. OMG!! I can't!! The strange thing is, all the best stylist at this salon, Allen, Ben, Jackie left. Now I will have to go into NYC to find a new salon. This has traumatized me.
