My Shrimp Po' Boy was very good.
    Fred M.

My daughter and I recently stopped in here for a quick bite and I'm glad we did! It's a college bar with good food, reasonable prices, and friendly service. Bruno's was established in 1934, and when you walk in you can feel the history. The close proximity to Loyola and Tulane makes it a popular choice with the students and alumni of both schools. I had the Shrimp Po' Boy and my daughter had a plain cheeseburger. We also split an order of their Cheese Fries. Everything was hot and tasty. If you are in the area and looking for the quintessential college bar...Bruno's is the place to go!

Cool spot to check out some college football. Especially Tulane games, it's the spot you'll see all the fans from other states before the game.

Yeah, if you want something quick and don't care about presentation this is the place to go. Also they don't have a waitress/waiter so you'll have to go up to the bar to place your order, luckily I have common sense my friend and I were in town for Mardi Gras and went here for a late night eat. Neither one of us finished our dish on top of the chick at the bar over charging me for extra food. It's definitely a college bar, I been to a few but this one I would only go back for drinks.

In the midst of the night and I'm craving for something substantial, THIS is my saving grace, my silver lining after a night of drinking. Off of maple street so prep for street parking this is nestled right in the university area of town. Honestly good drinks, great food, price point purrfect. Great spot to grab a quick bite and drink! 7/10 Bar food is always great!

I like to catch this place on off hours (aka when it's not full of college students). They have some very good specials which I as a budgetnista can fully support. Over all a good spot service was attentive and food was pretty good. Also bonus if you get a frozen drink and come back with the cup you get $1 off your next frozen drink.

Best place to watch the Tulane games. Just get there early because the place fills up fast. Will be back for sure.

We randomly came across this place and were very happy we did. The bartender was really nice and the food was great. I had red beans and rice and my boyfriend had a shrimp po-boy. Both were great. Fresh and tasty.

I was having a "college bar" adventure with a friend when we ended up at Bruno's. I have been to Bruno's a lot over the years and it's pretty much one of those "it is what it is" type of places. It's a good space with plenty of room, pool tables, video poker and typical bar fun like that. Honestly, it's a typical college bar and if you aren't a college kid you'll probably feel weird hanging out here. Or maybe that's just me. ha. I will say that they have a pretty decent beer selection and the bartenders are always fast, even when the place is crowded.

My daughter is a huge fan of chicken wings--like, she wants to eat them every day --so she was beyond excited when we walked in. We were seated immediately and ordered drinks--me, a much-needed beer, and my daughter, a soda. For food, we went with the lemon pepper wings, nachos, and onion rings. Let me tell you... these wings were . Some of the best I've ever had! Perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside . I honestly wish we had a place like this back home in Cali. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and super helpful, and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. Definitely a spot we'll be coming back to next time! Highly recommend for wing lovers.

When we walked in the hostess hardly acknowledged us. I asked if we could sit at the bar and she said yes so we walked over. The bar was full so we went back and asked if we could do a table instead. She laughed in our face and looked at us like we were crazy or inconveniencing her. And she was lounging on the bench on her phone, not even behind the counter to greet guests. There were tons of empty tables that hadn't even been cleaned off yet so we just sat at the cleanest one that at least didn't have dishes on it. It took FOREVER for a waitress to even come to us and take our order. After we placed our orders I think our waitress sensed that we were not having a good time so she apologized for the wait and was very kind and pleasant compared to the hostess. I wanted to try the pepper jack boudin egg-rolls. My boyfriend got the fried local shrimp. I did not like the boudin egg-roll. It was fried very hard and I wasn't the biggest fan of the boudin sausage but I wanted to try it because I never had it. You win some you some. I just ended up eating my boyfriend's shrimp because it had taken so long to get our food that the kitchen was basically getting ready to close so I didn't order anything else. Soooo yea. Not my go to choice for a bar. They did have these cool movie theatre style lounge chair in front of the big screen though so that was cool.

TVs are everywhere, making it a perfect spot to catch sporting events, meet up with friends, or just hang out solo. The vibe is low-key, casual, and welcoming--no frills, just a consistently good time. I also love that they're open 11 AM to 1 AM, seven days a week, which is clutch no matter the day or occasion. This will sound weird to say: Walk-On's isn't good, which made it great. Here's what I mean. You aren't coming into Walk-On's for high-end tasting menu cuisine, or beautiful sights, or the kind of people watching you'll get at sexier, hip bars in this or any city. But if you wanna grub and watch a game? I would come to Walk-On's every week if it was near my house. Lots of TVs. Food comes out of the kitchen fast. The mozzarella "logs" are magnificent, and absolutely terrible for you...but not any worse than the doughnut bread pudding, built on actual Krispy Kreme doughnuts, which almost left me with a heart attack. The waffle fries were great every night. (The burger? Not as great.) The prices for a bourbon "double" pour are very fair, much more so than the prices in other cities I hit on a regular basis. The wings, I am told, are solid. There is a general sense that everyone on staff is hustling, based on my three visits there this week, even when the space wasn't that crowded. I will be back for future Jazzfests!

The seasoning on the shrimp was just a tiny bit spicy, but it was not unmanageable. It balanced really nicely with the remoulade (we got it on the side). We ordered the fried gulf shrimp po boy, which was solid. We also got the shrimp and grits, which they were nice enough to prepare in a non-spicy sauce for me. It was really good. The sauce was subtle while allowing all of the Creole spices to shine through. I was unsure of why there was a piece of ham on it, but it brought a really tasty smokiness. I could have actually had several other pieces of it on there! The service was great, and the manager even remembered my original question about the sauce on the fried green tomatoes, so when it came out, it was on the side even though we forgot when we ordered from our waitress. We would come back again for sure.

And that experience is lost. Which is really disappointing. I imagined something more than we got. The back bar doesn't serve all the drinks and mainly does the traditional absinthe experience- great- but there's nothing that says that and there's tables and chairs but no one to educate you or offer suggestions. There's the back bartender. It's all very confusing. The back area would be sick with a piano player or acoustic guitar player or even a small jazz band and someone to invite you to experience "absinthe" and more so, traditionally.
