I scooped it up fast. When I received it it was in rough shape. They had repainted the bag everywhere and I mean everywhere - the grommets, the chain, on the turn lock. The paint job was also fading and rubbed off in certain spots, so the original color was poking through. On top of it all there was also pen marks on the inside flap. I debated where or not to send it in to get restored or just use it as is. I decided that since the bag is considered an investment piece then I needed to do everything I could to preserve it. I contacted Leather Surgeons. I uploaded pictures of the bag and they sent me a quote. I got the bag spa service about $600, but only because I added insurance. Then I waited, I sent it out and got confirmation that it was received 7/9/2026, and it came back yesterday 8/19/2026.(UPS signature required) I sent emails while waiting for the bag just to check up on the progress and LS got back to me every time. The wait was worthwhile. When I opened the box I couldn't believe how the bag looked. I was so happy with the bag. It literally looks brand new. I am so happy I decided to send the bag to Leather Surgeons, they are worth the hype. They have earned their reputation and I will be sending out two more bags to them. This place is the real deal, filled to the brim with extremely high quality leather, skin, and fur goods for the lowest prices I've ever seen. It's advertised as Pat Garrett's Sheepskin Outlet on billboards, and is the exclusive vendor of Sickafus sheepskin/leather products. Initially I had no idea what to expect before walking in. But the shopkeeper greeted us with a warm welcome. She was very patient as we tried things on, and even helped my sibling and I find coats we liked. They found a light brown leather bomber jacket, and I picked out a gorgeous black lambskin leather parka with a removable fleece insert. Both of these were literally a FRACTION of the price they would be in New York or online. I was tempted also by their leather gloves, made of the same lambskin leather and lined with soft wool, and by their leather wallets. I don't know how, but this store seems immune to the inflation and price gouging that prevails everywhere else. They also have much more than apparel. On the outside, the store functions as a gas station, farm stand, and info booth. Inside they've got a coffee maker, homemade muffins, snacks, knives, music (predominantly by Pat Garrett) and other tchotchkes. Across the street is the Pat Garrett amphitheater, that hosted tons of country superstars (yes including Miss Taylor) in its heyday, as evidenced by the store's impressive wall of autographed photos! Also behind the store is a motel which looks very quaint, with lots of nice plants and a cat wandering around. And Pat himself can be found hanging out in the store; we saw him and said hello! I definitely urge you to give this place a try... whether you're in the market for sheepskin or leather, or if you just want to visit an eclectic and unique place that feels like it's from a different time.
