My family has been driving past exit 19 for years but we never stopped in at Pat Garrett's... until last weekend!!!!! Pay the bad reviews no mind. This place is the real deal, filled to the brim with extremely high quality leather, skin, and fur goods for the lowest prices I've ever seen. It's advertised as Pat Garrett's Sheepskin Outlet on billboards, and is the exclusive vendor of Sickafus sheepskin/leather products. Initially I had no idea what to expect before walking in. But the shopkeeper greeted us with a warm welcome. She was very patient as we tried things on, and even helped my sibling and I find coats we liked. They found a light brown leather bomber jacket, and I picked out a gorgeous black lambskin leather parka with a removable fleece insert. Both of these were literally a FRACTION of the price they would be in New York or online. I was tempted also by their leather gloves, made of the same lambskin leather and lined with soft wool, and by their leather wallets. I don't know how, but this store seems immune to the inflation and price gouging that prevails everywhere else. They also have much more than apparel. On the outside, the store functions as a gas station, farm stand, and info booth. Inside they've got a coffee maker, homemade muffins, snacks, knives, music (predominantly by Pat Garrett) and other tchotchkes. Across the street is the Pat Garrett amphitheater, that hosted tons of country superstars (yes including Miss Taylor) in its heyday, as evidenced by the store's impressive wall of autographed photos! Also behind the store is a motel which looks very quaint, with lots of nice plants and a cat wandering around. And Pat himself can be found hanging out in the store; we saw him and said hello! I definitely urge you to give this place a try... whether you're in the market for sheepskin or leather, or if you just want to visit an eclectic and unique place that feels like it's from a different time. Don't even bother with this place! When we walked in, I tried to talk to the people in the store since it was really small, but the only person who responded was the man by the door. We looked around and saw some really nice coats. We would have asked about one, but nobody spoke to us. The jackets and items seemed overpriced to me, and the salespeople were so unfriendly that I didn't want to spend my hard-earned money there. We stopped in and I was immediately amazed at the selection of items. There were so many beautiful, well crafted items. I bought gifts, and each was loved! Next time we travel that way, I'll definitely be stopping by. I did see other reviews and feel the need to address some statements made in other reviews. The place is converted from another type of business and is an older, oddly shaped building. However, it is filled with absolutely beautiful items at great prices. I took the time to talk to the older gentleman working that day, and he is older and has some health issues that would make anyone cranky from time to time with the amount of pain he is in. I didn't find him to be too strange or mean as others wrote, he was friendly once I spent just a few seconds talking to him, and he did ask both my friend and I if we needed help prior to that. Just a little context and please remember let's try to be understanding of other humans and remember we all have something hard in our lives. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! the lady is extremely rude and yelled at me for using the bathroom with my friends. she aggressively banged on the door and demanded that i come out. the only reason i wanted to go in with my friends is becuase a man made me extremely uncomfortable beforehand and insisted i tryed on a coat for him even after telling him i wouldnt do so. read more

I'm so glad to see other have had similar and terrible experiences here and it wasn't just us that had to deal with the nastiness at this business. Unfortunately, on our road trip home, my sons truck died on the highway. An officer stopped by to help and suggested we do what we can to get off the highway and pull over in a safe location right off the exit. We were not able to drive the truck at all so we towed it off (using a tow strap) and into a large and empty parking lot so that we would be out of the way and could wait for a tow. Meanwhile, we all had to use the restroom but there were no other businesses in the area, other than Sickafus so we crossed the road to utilize their facilities. We felt badly that we had to so we walked around the store, looking for something we might be interested in buying. The "gentleman" in the store started yelling at the boys and basically told them to get out. Keep in mind, I could see and hear the boys from where I was and they were only trying on some of the hats. The hats all had signs that said, "Try me on". I didn't realize the guy yelled at them when we left but found out later. My son and his friends stayed in their truck while they waited for the tow to come get them (we had to get back in time for my daughter to work and she had to be there). The guy then stood outside for 25 minutes, staring at the truck and even yelled at them from across the road. Eventually, he crossed the road and told them to get lost. My son explained they couldn't move the truck and were waiting for a tow. He then threatened them, told them he had their license plate and they needed to go. The unbelievable nastiness and misery that came from this man were extreme. I hated that I couldn't stay with my son, that I had to leave, and to know this nasty person was threatening him and his friends for literally just sitting in their truck while they waited for a tow, well, I wouldn't suggest anyone EVER go there. I know that at times my reviews can be a bit wordy but this place....defies explanation to a point and if you've never been there you really can't get how weird it is. I'll try a bit of an abbreviated history to begin with. Part one is that if you have ever driven on Route 78 in the area of Strausstown (exit 19) you know something about Pat Garrett or this place because there are billboards everywhere hawking his sheepskin outlet store. The lovely wife has seen said signs for years now and has increasingly wanted to stop to search for a pair of slippers. After putting it off for over a decade we finally made the stop the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Now the other side of the equation is that Garrett is an E-List country act that I guess would be considering the "King of Strausstown" with his gas station, sheepskin store, motel and who knows what else. He is also milking his fifteen seconds of fame because a while back Taylor Swift played with his band when she was a no name from Berks County. The "store" is like walking into any tiny gas station convenience store in the middle of nowhere just that instead of beef jerky, slurpys and old hot dogs this place is loaded down from end to end with everything you possibly imagine sheepskin related along with things like an old amp for sale, several huge knives, a display of cubic zirconium which has a sign on it imploring you to buy because no will know it's not the real thing and various other bits of junk/crap that I can't remember. In other words it looks like you're walking into the garage of someone related to Ted Nugent who happens to posses a lot Ted's leftovers. The review from Yelper Wayne S. about someone following you around is very, very true. One guy there (names-who knows) just stood by a door way that leads to a closet area and gawks at you while every two minutes or so he asks again if there is anything he can do for you. If you need to move somewhere around where he is standing he doesn't move for you, you move around him. Let's see, then there is Mr. Garrett who I'll call the voice of the almighty. Why? Well this place has some kind of an intercom system where at various times Pat (I guess) will start talking-barking instructions-interrupt a sale over and over until someone answers him. An example would be that the glaring guy was actually helping another customer and then the voice starts bellowing about a website problem that they were having that day and since glaring guy didn't respond fast enough the question got asked over and over until he answered. Or when we're at the register paying the voice starts to bellow that the garbage needs to get taken out. Well again, until the woman at the register answered the question it was asked again and again. There's more like the guy who walks in to find no one at the register only to go down this narrow hallway towards I think the restrooms then maybe thirty seconds later comes out yelling something about "Well then don't take my F-ing money" towards the woman working the register. I saw more there in our 20-25 minutes in that store than I could ever care to see in a lifetime. It's was like a Christopher Nolan movie crossed with The Usual Suspects meets the Beverly Hillbillies in terms of clientele, staff and experience. Oh by the way, the slippers were bought and so far so good in terms of warmth and durability. In the future either we'll order online or just go from another company as this whole shopping ordeal was at best surreal and at worst totally freakish. read more

Dont stop here for any reason. My family and I stopped for gas here. Even though you buy gas, you can't use the bathroom unless you buy something, two hideous old harpies glare at you while they drink coffee & smoke cigarettes, the man at the counter follows you around the cramped store and there's a bizarre rooms by the week motel in the back. it's a weird place and a definately hostile vibe. We were treated very suspiciously. read more

I was not impressed with the place which is a converted gas station. It was an odd experience, to say the least. The woman running it followed us around while we looked at the wares. Their selection is decent, but I didn't care for the lighting, arrangement of products, atmosphere, or having someone tailing me throughout the shop. read more

Rude!!! Have seen billboards for this place whenever we travel up that way and have always wanted to stop in to check it out. My husband and I were passing by on Sunday and he stopped in for me. The shop is very crowded and tough to move around in, but I did see some things while there that I would not have minded having. Unfortunately while there I was looking around and reached up to touch something and look at it better and accidentally knocked over a Styrofoam head that was sitting on the counter...I immediately apologized to the woman behind the counter and instead of being a decent human being about it she huffed and rolled her eyes at me like I had been running around the store just destroying everything in my path. Needless to say we didn't stay after that , I turned around and told my husband it was time to go and didn't look back. As others have said, you are followed around in the store because it is stuffed with very over priced merchandise, forget wheelchair access because it is so cramped even walking around the store has an issue, now for their prices, quite honestly I have seen the same stuff in NYC at wholesalers as well as retailers much cheaper than here ( their prices are more a kin to Macy's or Bloomingdale's ) however it appears to be sourced from the same supplier ( over seas in many cases ) so you may not be buying an American product ( let the buyer beware ) We had driven by it for years and now seeing inside we'll continue to do so, We suggest you do the same. read more

I purchased extra large motorcycle seat covers from Sickafus online for our 2 Harley Davidson motorcycles (road king & a heritage softtail) and we couldn't be happier!!! Not only were these well priced, but shipping was prompt and the skins are beautiful!!! We have ppl asking us all the time where we purchased our seat covers & have many many compliments on them!! This place is extremely over priced. I bought slippers for my parents and found the same ones on Amazon for $20.00 less per pair. I should have done some research before I bought. Also, they are not very accommodating. I bought ear muffs for my wife while she was outside watching our dogs. They did not fit her and she asked to exchange them.. They wouldn't do it. sikafus sheepskins is a unbelievable gem there is no other place that can sell you a premium skeepskin coat for less money in the united states much less a custom made coat. i have shopped there several times for my self my wife and my son. love their products and travel over 100 miles to get there. one day this place will be gone and an era will have ended..my advice take advantage now!! read more
