I've found so many great patterns and fabrics for an amazing price, so as I'm learning to sew it has been such a joy to try various patterns with a wide variety of fabrics without breaking the bank. I can't remember where I saw someone suggest this store, it was probably a niche sewing group on facebook though. There was a comment about silk for dirt cheap. They were right. I hopped on their site, because I wasn't really looking for a road trip, and saw some pretty great deals. I am queen of "I don't really need that but..." because I frequently sew and make things for other people. I also have a habit of stocking up in larger yardages because most of my default projects are 3+ yards (infinite dresses, mermaid skirts, super full circle skirts, fluffy pantaloons...). I also try to coordinate with crap I already have because it's easier to build a costume later without hoping something matches. So, what did I buy, you ask? For a total of about $100 after shipping... I picked two different silk chiffons with metallic stripes/grids. I thought one would match a velvet and vintage coin project I've had on my mind for the last 6 years (it doesn't, but I might force it), and the other was just a fun color. Both of them were $7/yard. I got 5 of each, because clearly I needed it. In terms of quality and all that - great for the price. Nice drape, doesn't feel cheap, and miles ahead of synthetic chiffon. The other impulse buy was 6 yards of a print poly/spandex ITY that became an infinite dress, two cropped tops, and a miniskirt. At $3.60/yard, it really couldn't be beat. The material has worn and washed really well so far. I'll probably be back on their site when I need more of it in other prints. Shipping turnaround was a day, and it got to me relatively quickly. I didn't have any issues so I can't vouch for how customer service is, nor can I comment on their brick and mortar. But for a smaller company they were great. read more

I heard about this place from a friend who lives 2 states away... And I live in PA! They have the largest indie pattern section that I have seen in PA. Their stock is constantly changing, but always have knits, wovens, and other deadstock apparel fabric. The fabric can be bolts that have imperfections - so look closely! I have seen woven bolts that have a single line off (in a solid black fabric there was one line of undyed threads) in repeating patterns, digital prints that are missing color in various spots and slubs that have loose threads sticking out. They do have great sales, so sign up for their newsletter and watch the savings roll in! They have a great website that updates on the spot. They have shipping options, but I always pick up my order and look to see what else they have that hasn't made it to the website yet! read more

I love the quality of the large fabric selections, the fast delivery, the prices, the swatch club, and the customer service response is a pleasant and satisfying experience. I wish they had a store here in Baltimore. I also love the blog and the classes. As a member of the swatch club there are corresponding videos that give you almost a hands on experience of the fabric. Keep on doing what you are doing to satisfy your customers. I've ordered from Fabric Mart online for a number of years now and they are my go-to place for fabric. I love their sales but they also just in general have an excellent selection online. Their customer service is fantastic. If they are out of a fabric - which sometimes happens during the sales- they will call you and ask if you want to replace it with something else or just ship as is and refund the rest of the money. The one time they did get an order wrong, I sent them a picture of what was incorrect. Within 24 hours, I got a wonderful response and the correct item was sent out. However, I know I've ordered from Fabric Mart at least a dozen times a year since 2015 so 1 wrong order out of the nearly 40 orders I've made isn't bad. Also, I was very please with how they handled the situation which is why I am giving them five stars. Mistakes happen - it's how you deal with them that can make or break a business. The quality of the fabric is phenomenal. I mostly order linens, silks, and wools for my historical costuming. So far, everything has been exactly as described. I do burn tests once in a while but they always come out as what the description stated. Also, the colors on the screen are true to what you get. If anything, sometimes the fabric is more beautiful in person than it was on the computer screen. I really hope that Fabric Mart stays the way they are for a number of years to come. I have loved this store for many years and continue to shop there. I find the pictures are the best for any online retailer and descriptions are also great. Customer service is amazing. I have recently had much stress and issues with my apartment office losing many packages and have stopped delivery of many favorite sites. I put a note in my order that the package must be left at my door and not at the office; there was an obvious and plainly written note taped to the package with those instructions - and guess what - it worked!!! Instead of taking a chance on some little note on the label they went the extra step. I can't say enough good things about the customer service and values from Fabric Mart. read more

Placed an order 1/2/2018. Placed another order several hours later and asked that it be combined in order to avoid paying two shipping charges. Second order was shipped first plus shipping, notified via e-mail to which I responded that I wanted both orders combined. First order was shipped days later plus shipping again. I called and spoke to Chris who was rude, explaining that had all the items been on the same order, I would only have been charged one shipping charge, i.e. because I placed another order only several hours later and asked that the two small(!) pieces of fabric be added to the standing order, I could not possibly be accommodated because it would have been too logistically difficult. I asked whether two orders placed, say, two minutes apart would have been treated similarly and she responded in the affirmative. She stated that all customers received an e-mail about a change in policy re. combining orders (it can no longer be done). I responded that I hadn't received any such e-mail. She said that it wasn't as if they were keeping it a secret. I responded that it was a secret to me if I didn't know about it. Etc. I would think a fabric store would want to sell as much fabric as possible, encouraging as many orders as possible. I've been a customer for only about two years and so I doubt they'll miss my business but in good conscience, I cannot do business with someone who values processing orders over customer service and selling product. There are many other fabric stores, online and B&M. I'll happily spend my money elsewhere. A (stupid) change in policy is one thing; enforcing policy changes rudely is another. read more

I haven't been lucky enough to visit the store in person, but I have ordered from Fabric Mart's website a number of times, and have been incredibly pleased with their selection, prices, and service. They carry interesting designer fashion fabrics, and the prices really can't be beat. They have been incredibly kind more than once when I have messed up using a discount code, and always been willing to adjust the prices for me. They have always been quick to ship my orders, and when all is said and done, I have some beautiful, interesting fabric that didn't break the bank. Highly recommend! read more

I'm shocked there are no reviews about this amazing place as of yet. This is my go-to place for apparel fabric. FM carries designer names, high end fabrics, notions, and more at incredibly affordable prices. Shopping online is a breeze, and you receive orders quickly. Shopping in the store can be slightly confusing when you first walk in, but trust me, you'll get the hang of where everything is. Their selection is CONSTANTLY changing, so if you like something, grab it! Inside the store, there is more to offer discount wise. Customer service here is exceptional in phone and in person. If I have ever had an issue with an order (twice in the many years I've been going there - and the second time was my own fault), they will fix it quickly. I've never walked away disappointed, and love love love their flash and regular sales. Sign up for their newsletter/mailing list as you will be informed right away of their most recent sales.
