I went there on a whim with my wheelchair bound special needs client. We were thrilled as it is one of the few places on that part of the ave that we could actually access in her mobility chair. Absolutely awful. After painting I attempted to use a coupon card I received around last April, but even though there was no expiration date or anything telling you it must be used by a certain date I was told by who I assume was the owner that he had no way to even enter it into the system. It was a complete embarrassment and when I asked how we were supposed to know that it was not usable he responded with an attitude and told me that we should've asked about it before we picked our items. To further add, the dog named "Gigi" absolutely killed the atmosphere with the 24/7 barking and every little kid being scared of it. My oh my, where do I start??!! A group of us were going to do vintage Christmas trees on Friday, 10/24 at 5:00 pm. We received a text at around 1:00-1:30 the day of the appointment saying that he didn't get the trees in time so we needed to reschedule. We scheduled for 11/7 at 5:00 pm. I arrived by 5 and one in my group was already there. I looked at the table of trees and they were different sizes? We each paid $150 for a large tree. My friend had two small trees in front of her and one of the large trees was smaller than the rest but bigger than the smalls. She stated that he said he dropped one of the large trees so he gave us two small. When questioned about the other odd sized tree he said" oh that's a large it's just a different manufacturer". So we begin our trees, which I took the two smaller ones and was not able to finish by 6:30 which is when he closed. I said I would be back the following week to finish them both , I live in Bernville. I went the following week and was told that someone else had painted my tree and that he would get one to replace it tomorrow. So I finished the one while he sat there and told me about his personal life with some guy as if we were best friends. I said I would be back next week To do the other one. I went back the next week and he said, " you were supposed to call me, I don't have the tree yet". I reminded him that he said he would get another tree the next day and he argued with me. I went back the next week and my tree was there to finish. This business has posted that the process from start to finish will take a week. The other girls in my group had finished their trees the first night, felt rushed because we had an hour and a half and he told us "not to worry, that he would touch them up before firing them, which he did not do. We were supposed to pick up the trees a couple of times and he kept making excuses and changing the pick up date. I had multiple texts with him and he became disagreeable and rude during them. We finally were able to get the trees which were supposed to be ready to go. They were fired but that was it. No touch ups. Some of the holes in the trees were plugged and he didn't have the proper tool to fix them. We had to gather all the lights and things for the trees, while he had to look for the right sizes and colors. Also, no paper towels or anything to use while painting to clean if you needed to. When I went back to finish, I took my own paper towels. Last but not least he came in the room wreaking of weed. I know when I was there a couple of times there were children there. Not professional at all. I will never go back to this place and I would not recommend it to anyone. Felt like chaos. read more

I was hesitant to post this, but I feel it's important to share my experience so others can make an informed decision. On January 31st, 2025, I visited The Art Room with friends and paid $56 to paint a ceramic piece. I was told it would be ready within two weeks. My friend checked in around that time--nothing was ready. I followed up several times over the next three months and was continually told it would be mailed "soon." After being ignored for weeks and missing the window to dispute the charge, I posted a factual and respectful review about my experience. The owner then contacted me and demanded I delete the review in order to receive my refund and item. I provided screenshots to the Better Business Bureau showing he promised shipment and acknowledged the delay. He responded to the BBB by stating, in writing, that he would not issue a refund unless I removed the review. He later added that I was "out to get him" and said the BBB "won't solve the issue." This was never about $56. It's about how this business handles accountability. Throughout this experience, I was: * Ignored for months * Blamed for the delay * Retaliated against for leaving a review * Publicly accused of falsehoods (despite providing proof) * And pressured to be silent in exchange for resolution There are multiple reviews describing nearly identical issues: items left unfulfilled, customers ignored, then retaliated against when they speak up. I have since filed a formal complaint with the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office. I'm posting this so others don't have to go through the same emotional labor over a painted mushroom and a $56 charge. I've always wanted to come here, so I finally got the time to schedule something! I was super excited, but some things went down hill. I tried to call a few hours before my reservation because I had a few questions, but it went right to voicemail even though online it said they were open. I figured they may have been busy and couldn't get to the phone, but about an hour before my reservation I got a text saying that the Art Room canceled my appointment. I didn't get a call, or anything explaining why it was canceled. I tried calling once again but nothing. It would have been nice to have a heads up. I ended up showing up for my appointment time anyway to find out they were closed. It was very disappointing and I don't think I'm going to try and reserve time here again. read more

When I went to the Art Room, there were two young men working who claimed to be the owners nephew and his friend. My experience was fantastic and I was pleased with my pottery. However, when I went to pick up the pottery I was repeatedly hung up on while trying to call to see if it was done and when he told me to come get it the door was locked. When I got to the store and tried to express my disappointment, the OWNER of the business screamed in my face multiple times and called me names. This business has terrible lack of communication with customers and was easy to jump to conclusions without hearing me out. (mind you this is the owner of the store) read more

I had the best experiences at the art room, once for my birthday and another time for a friend's birthday. Brian was very accommodating of our large group, and him and his staff were all very friendly and made it a great experience. One of the best parts of course was getting to say hi to his dog Gigi! We received the phone call that our art was ready very timely, and everything was in great condition when we came to pick it up. I will definitely be returning in the future. I highly reccommend the art room as an activity with friends or for a special occassion!!! read more

Went to The Art Room with my partner her guide dog, and my child on 1/11/25. We were greeted by Brian's aggressive dog who attacked my Partner's guide. Brian was wholly unable to control it even after it attacked her guide dog. Brian was unapologetic and put us on the defensive with his demeaning attitude and lack of control of the animal. I was so taken back that the only thing I could say is that we would return the next day. When we got home, my Partner posted her experience on facebook. Brian left me a voice message and was very apologetic to me, even admitting that the animal, Gigi was aggressive. However, Brian showed a very different face when dealing with my partner on facebook. Threats of legal action towards my partner and childish responses to other members of the blind community and guide dog handlers. If you value the rights of disabled people and women, please do not support this small business. read more

Yesterday at The Art House in West Reading, PA, my sisters and I attended an event involving pottery painting and DeLune Gems' permanent bracelets. The event was from 12-5, we showed up around 12:30. It was pretty busy but the atmosphere was good, with food and drinks. After painting our pottery pieces we began picking out our bracelets. As we were getting our bracelets done, all of which took about 5-10 min maximum to chose the bracelet, gem, clasp, fit, and then put the bracelet on, the Art House owner made comments to the De Lune owner about being stressed and telling her to hurry up and limit what customers could get. The De Lune owner explained she wanted each customer to get what they paid for and she couldn't rush the process, as she wanted to ensure the quality was good. The Art Room owner responded with harsh and disrespectful comments, in front of my sisters and I. He told her to she was a mess and that he was running the event while she "sat on her ass." We were extremely uncomfortable and felt terrible for De Lune's owner as she was so polite and working with a customer the entire time we were there, with no breaks. He didn't try to alleviate the situation and/ or address the participants at all to explain what was going on or provide ideas/ solutions but rather just yelled at the woman he was collaborating with and made it her fault. Witnessing his unprofessional behavior left us with no intention of returning to The Art House. read more

Have never experienced this level of pure discomfort in any public setting in my life. My sisters and I paid for tickets to attend an event at The Art House. The ticket included painting a ceramic pottery piece and (the exciting part - getting a permanent bracelet from DeLune Gems which if you haven't heard of or been you absolutely must go. Her customer service is amazing and every single thing in her store is perfection.) This ticket also came with food and drink which was great. The ticket said 12-5. We showed up around 12:30 ish and it was busy but still the atmosphere was fun and the owner of The Art Room was helpful. As the day went on and more and more customers were coming to this event and the owner was visibly getting overwhelmed which is understandable. This is when it all goes down hill. My sisters and I had finished our pottery. My one sister had just gotten her bracelet and I was next and in the chair. While the owner of DeLune Gems was carefully and dutifully helping me pick a style and informing me of each bracelet, the Art Room Owner came over and literally verbally assaulted her. It began by him telling her that she needed to hurry up and limit what customers could get. She politely explained she wanted each customer to get what they paid for and she couldn't rush the process, as she wanted to ensure the quality was good. This made the Art Room Owner visibly very angry and he started swearing at her in front of my sisters and I, saying she was a "f****ing mess" and she was just "sitting on her ass"....when that was the whole point of her being there - to sit and do every persons individual bracelet. She rightfully so was very upset and shocked by this as was I. My sisters and I were uncomfortable for hours after the event - I can't imagine how the DeLune owner must have felt to have to stay there for 4 or so more hours. I don't even want to go back for my pottery because I still feel attacked even though it wasn't directed at me. It was 100% inappropriate, capricious, aggressive and wrong. Will never be returning and definitely not recommending. *also, I posted this review to his Facebook, he blocked me which deleted my review, then proceeded to post screenshots of other good reviews from the weekend. **I think it's also important to note that I have never in my life made a formal complaint or took the time to review anyone or any business ever. But this was scary and extremely inappropriate. read more
