That was our first mistake as the wait time was very long (an hour), so I would recommend getting here early in the day. Once we were inside, the restaurant had a cozy feel. I thought that the food was really yummy and they work with any requests you might have. The crushed ice in the drink was sublime. However, the service was a little lackluster, but I can chalk it up to being because it was a busy Saturday afternoon. Again, to reiterate my earlier recommendation, I would get here early as they were already sold out of a lot of the pastries. Do note down that there is an auto-grat on their checks for what I'm assuming groups of 6 or more (wasn't explained on the receipt). A major downside to this restaurant is that it is cash only. With all being said, I would still love to come back and visit.

Twice within a day..lol... Started off picking up coffee and tea as they were the only thing open in town. Good for a touristy place that they were the only thing to be open early. Great for us and good on them for starting the day early. I picked up some coffee and tea to start our day which even first thing, they had people starting their day with a great breakfast. That afternoon, I did remember the last time we were here that I wanted some pies. Well, I didn't pick up any last time so this visit it was a must to have. There were a few options in the display case which all sounded amazing. The winner was the mixed berries with rhubarb and apples. Wow, it was delicious. The right amount of sweetness and tartness from the berries and rhubarb. Definitely would get it again. They had them by the slice but I'm not sure if they sell it whole. While I was in, there was a phone order for a couple of slices of pies to go...lol... Must be known for them. We know what to expect with their food so that's a good thing. The place is right in the heart of the village. There's a small lot just outside but street parking is also available. Depending on the time you visit, if it's packed they do have parking lots nearby. Inside seating has the bar counter as well as some tables while patio has a good amount of tables as well. Heads up, this place is cash only. They do have an atm near the restroom if needed.

Yeah, it may be crowded most of the time (as it should be!), but the minute you walk in, all the staff are super chill and welcoming. The vibe is just so unique which I love. You can order drinks in line from the QR codes all around and the ordering process is super simple and quick service. Well, today, I had my husband order the Rasta chicken bowl for me (I usually order the tikiyaki), but thought I'd try something new today lol. Unfortunately, it was way too spicy for me... so I had my husband go up and ask for my OG bowl, offering to pay (of course). However, they said it was totally ok, no need to pay, and handed him the new bowl within 30 seconds of going up there. They even came around while we were eating to make sure everything was good. Safe to say, if you're ever in Big Bear, this is a must stop! 1000000+/5 stars!

It has been in the same spot for more than three decades and when the original owners decided to retire about ten years ago, the new owner (current owner) kept everything the same. The staff is friendly and get orders cranked out quickly. It is all booth seating that makes it feel kind of like an old-school diner. They will make changes to their menu items to make it just how you like it. For instance, we always add pickles, lettuce, and tomato to the pastrami and they are happy to accommodate. Sometimes there's a wait, but it is always worth it.

It's probably about 10 minutes of so from the village and along Big Bear Blvd. Located in a strip mall with a lot of other shops. Plenty of parking which is alway a plus whenever you're going somewhere. First impression, I thought it was a donut shop or some sort...lol... The main entrance takes you into the store front where the cashier is and you could see the kitchen to the left side. First off, it didn't seem like a restaurant or sort. You have to walk in and head to the right to get to the dining area. It's mainly one long room. They did have a door on that side but we didn't see anyone utilizing it as everyone was coming in through the main entrance. The dining area is one room but pretty narrow and long. Booth style seating which is nice. A simple no fuss cafe that seems to be well known by the locals. Menu, pretty much a lot of everything to choose from. You have breakfast served all day everyday with loads to choose from. Then the classic lunch dishes with soups, salads, hot and cold sandwiches as well as specialty, burgers and so on. Dinner with their specialties dishes and so on. Loads on that menu to choose from. The lady working was she sweetest. She was the only one taking order so I'm not sure if she just works there or the owner but very sweet, friendly and a major doll. And as some of the guest seems to know her, it must be a local hot spot for locals. Oh, they also open early which is great as some places tend to open slightly later. We all went for breakfast with a mixture of everything. Portion wise for the items are pretty big. Pancakes for an order is massive and great for sharing. Their blueberries and strawberries pancakes were delicious. Blueberry mixed into the batter and topped more fruits and whipped cream. The chicken fried steak with gravy, eggs and hash brown was quite delicious. Meat was tender and not over cooked. The toast that also comes with was really tasty. Thick slices of sourdough. And one of the omelette. Simple but very tasty. Each meal normally comes with a side of toast and two sides. Pancakes and waffles comes as it but pretty massive for one person. Good was tasty. It's a cafe with easy eats. Not your fancy dining but the food was quite nice and tasty. Big portion and very affordable. A nice local restaurant without the bougie fuss. Great place for breakfast that we know about now and will be back.

This place close to the parks. It's located in an outdoor shopping street with pretty hanging flower baskets displayed among unique stores for shopping. Parking is mostly on the street - free - and the atmosphere is friendly. My friend had tea and I had latte while we waited for our breakfast order. Prices were okay. The food - delicious! Prepared right where you can see from your wooden polished tables. Unique games, card decks, and puzzles are available as well as books while you are there. It was fun to put together a small puzzle with my friend. I had an omelette type dish with avocado, tomatoes, cheese. Very yummy served with toast. My friend had a breakfast sandwich. Everyone there was friendly! The place is clean. Bathrooms big. Next time in Big Bear Lake, this is the place!

Chaotic, disorganized, and slow. Whoever designed the ordering system and layout of this place…read moresucceeded in making it as confusing and inefficient as possible! Orders must be placed through (2) digital kiosks, placed on each side of the front door, the absolutely worst location. People coming in and going out are blocked by a massive traffic jam, and nobody knows where or who is in line to order. This is worse when somebody (or a group) of people are taking too much time at the kiosk browsing through the selections. To place your order, you must provide a name and phone number to receive a number that is shown on a monitor on the wall, and a text message notification. But the order number/notification only is for drink orders, NOT food (they don't explain that anywhere along the process). The food orders are ready when they simply call out your name. Drinks, "Savory" food, and Crepes/dessert are fulfilled by (3) separate prep lines/pickup locations around the restaurant, which creates more clusters of people standing around inside. What is the point of having a digital ordering system with text notification, if you still have to wait there and listen for your name to be called? It took OVER 45 MINUTES to get our food, which was just (2) breakfast sandwiches! I would have cancelled my order, gotten a refund, and moved on to somewhere else if it was actually possible to speak to anyone about that. The food itself is not bad, but it's nothing special - obviously after waiting for so long, it had better be fresh, but there is nothing great or unique about the meal that makes up for dealing with the ridiculous ordering system and long wait! Overall, a very stressful and frustrating experience just to get some typical cafe food. And, I know sometimes places get very busy and over capacity, but that is no excuse for the bad process a customer has to go through here. You can go to an actual sit-down restaurant, get a table, get served, eat, and have an extra cup of coffee in the amount time it takes to get ANYTHING here!

For years now, we have planned my annual bday trip and April getaways to Big Bear Lake with Lumberjack Cafe ensuring a spot first on every itinerary. Honestly we look forward to sitting inside or outside this cafe just as much as the actual vacation itself. What makes this place truly magical is the people. Alecia is hands-down the best server we have ever had anywhere...PERIOD. Over the years she has transitioned from a familiar face to a dear who even remembers my order (I'm going to have to start switching it up more lol). Seeing her daughter, Aleka, carry on that same legacy of amazing, warm service that makes it feel like watching family grow. The food is consistently phenomenal and mouth-watering. My absolute must-have is the chocolate chip waffle which is packed with flavor, though the eggs Benedict is a very close second (they should market that Hollandaise sauce). My husband tries a variety of dishes and every single item he orders is a home run! Because they close at 2pm it is the ultimate neighborhood breakfast spot. It will elevate your mountain experience, and like us, you will find yourself returning every single time you come back to the area. Thank you to Alecia & the entire Lumberjack Cafe Family/Team whose hard work and heart are quite apparent in every aspect of running a beloved local establishment.
