I don't know about you, but I LOVE me some soup! And when you are in the mountains, smack dab in the middle of winter, there is nothing more satisfying to your mouth, to your stomach and to your soul, than a hot cup of homemade soup. And to The Copper Q.... When visiting Big Bear this past winter (February 2026), I had one of your soups that will end all soups! It was creamy... It was Hot... And it made my tastebuds dance with joy!! The only bad thing about it.... I couldn't get enough of it, and to save my life, I can't tell you what the name of it was... (See my photo below for reference) Was it cream of chicken? Was it cream of mushroom?? Was it cream of heaven??? All I know, it was damn Delicious!!! Besides the soup, we also got some kind of specialty coffee for us, along with some cake pops & hot chocolates for the kids which they enjoyed. Apparently this place makes a mean Vietnamese Pho that everyone seems to give props to; I might just give it a spin next time though. Besides the soups & coffees, the Copper Q has a wide selection of baked goods, and other breakfast & lunch specialties. The city of Big Bear was poppin' the weekend we visited and it seemed like the Copper Q was the place to be because it too was packed. If I could assign negative stars I would. What went wrong? Let me list the ways. I do want to preface this review by saying that it is quite unfortunate because although the cafe may have a cute ambience, it severely lacks in professionalism and plain courtesy. I ordered my coffee, utilizing the kiosk, while holding my 3 pound chihuahua. My drink orders were provided by the barista without issue. As I went to sit on the outdoor patio with my girlfriends and their two small dogs, I was approached by a short, white bald male employee and accused of allowing my dog to defecate and instructed me to leave. I responded that my dog had not defecated and I was just about to sit down to enjoy my coffee. The employee appeared shocked by my response and started to walk away. He returned seconds later and demanded that we leave and accused my dog of defecating. My girlfriends and I began to collect our things to leave. This employee refused to provide his name when asked and continued to berate us. He then began to threaten that he would call the police as we were leaving. Thankfully, I stopped my other girlfriend from placing her order just as we walked out of the cafe. The employee proceeded to behave as though he was calling the police and began to physically describe our party of three (plus four very small dogs). He called one of us transgender and spouted homophobic slurs. Needless to say we left and sat in a nearby shaded area. Although the cafe front boasts "pet friendly," it is 100% not. I have never been treated this way in an establishment and am completely shocked this establishment would employ such an unprofessional individual. This place is NOT pet nor human friendly. If you have pets, are a female with a pixie cut, are in a group of women with pixie haircuts, are gay, transgender, and/or otherwise not a bald white man....YOU are most definitely unwelcome here. Spend your hard earned dollar elsewhere. This place is on the downward spiral and I will continue to preach my disappointed until everyone knows this place is hateful OR until this employee is FIRED (see picture for employee reference). This is a very cute and extremely popular cafe along the main shopping drag. There is a lot of seating inside and there is also plenty of seating on the patio. We hit the place at the right time and there was only a short line. But shortly after our visit, the line was literally out the door. The fancy coffee drinks we tried were delicious. The breakfast croissant was absolutely HUGE and delicious. The sausage in it was particularly delicious. They have a "savory station" at the back of the restaurant where you can watch them cook the eggs and crepes and such right in front of you. It is pretty cool. I had the chai coffee and it was one of the greatest I've had. I don't think the powder was mixed correctly but I enjoyed the flavor regardless. I even waited for my ice to melt to have a few more sips of it. We came on a busy weekend so we had to wait but I didn't mind. We tried a crepe as well , we got the crème with strawberries but I don't think they added the crème. Still good though. They have tables and chairs as well as stools by the window to sit. This was a busy cafe located in Big Bear. Very cozy once you get it. The ambiance was nice and decorated with a country motif. It was a self service then call your name once it's ready. The only set back was that once they call your name anyone can pick it up. That happened to my daughter. Ordered her breakfast burrito and someone picked up . Once asked the cook , said I don't know what happened. We asked for the manager because he didn't want to replace it. Immediately he prepared one right away. I'm associating this place to the Village at Big Bear. I feel the need to stop by for some coffee or drinks after walking around the village. I do miss the inside decorations, it was half store/ half cafe before, but now its half restaurant/ half cafe. I love seeing the Vietnamese cuisines and drinks being offered at Big Bear! I ordered the iced matcha latte and iced Vietnamese coffee. The orders must have gotten mixed up because we received our matcha latte but I had to keep asking for my Vietnamese coffee! Very unprofessional experience. I ordered a simple bagel with cheese, which took over 20 minutes to prepare. During that time, the cook was standing around with his arms folded. When my fiancé finally asked about the order, the cook responded by asking what we wanted on it--after we had already placed and paid for the order. When I requested a refund due to the delay, the cashier initially attempted to refund less than what was paid, which I had to correct. While the coffee itself is good, the service--particularly from the cook--was unacceptable. We popped in for a cup of coffee and a morning stroll. This place is quite big both inside and outside with loads of seating for both. The gentleman that rang us up was quite friendly and very sweet. They also have fresh pastries on hand. I did notice a little kitchen area in the back so I assume they serve food. Didn't check this place out prior to coming in. It is also difficult to order as I could not find a menu for their food and drink items besides the drink menu at the register. I was able to decide on the pastries to order by looking through their display shelves. - raspberry white chocolate scone: 8.2/10. This was very yummy! Not too sweet, with a crispy exterior and soft and fluffy interior. It wasn't dry like how scones normally are and there was a good amount of raspberries and white chocolate chips. - artichoke quiche: 7.5/10. This was also yummy! Took about 10 minutes to warm up. There was lots of artichoke chunks and the crust was flaky. There was a little bit too much cheese for my preference, but still yummy. - matcha latte: 5/10. very bland and tasted like milk. - caramel macchiato: 6/10. very weak/diluted coffee flavor. Large space, friendly barista, and rustic feel to match the typical "Big Bear" aesthetic.... However, the coffee is machine made, not hand pulled espresso. "Spiced Apple Cider" is just watered down syrup sugar water.. and as simple as ordering a toasted everything bagel is, and literally giving detailed instructions on how i'd like it-open faced, buttered, and then cream cheese~they still gave it to me closed like a sandwich (which unless you eat it like a burger, leaves one side full of cream cheese and the other empty)... I needed to request a second attempt, and repeated directly to the guy making it this time that I would like it open face, (honestly, who eats a bagel like a sandwich) toasted with butter and then cream cheese~and he still didn't butter it.... The food and drinks here are still great, but several things changed recently. First, they got rid of all the cashiers, and they have signs saying "Use the kiosks, it's faster!" which is a lie. You always get stuck behind some indecisive family standing there swiping through the whole damn menu and have no idea what they want, when you want to simply order ONE thing. Another thing is they shut down the actual coffee bar earlier now, and it turns into some cowboy karaoke bar after 8-9 PM. We used to stroll by and pick up a hot coffee on a cold night and walk down Pine Knot, but not anymore. If you want your evening coffee anywhere in the Village now, you have to go to Ellie's. We'll still go here for breakfast though, the sandwiches and coffees are still great. But it's pretty lame with the kiosks and shorter hours now. read more

I got there too early to get breakfast - which was unfortunate; these guys used to have a pretty epic breakfast burrito. The no longer have the Maple latte that I loved, so I picked up a butterscotch latte. It wasn't the same, tasted funny, and I guess the drinks only come in one size now. The barrista (or cashier ... There was also discrepancies in pricing from one posted menu to another (shown in photos). Staff was lovely and super friendly. My one big complaint and, based on other reviews, sounds like others had the same experience, was that our order took a very long time. They were busy, yes. Maybe short staffed? Who knows. But waiting 25 mins for a latte and a breakfast sandwich just wasn't something we were prepared for, so that was unfortunate.
