Great neighborhood hardware store. They might not have the selection of a larger big box store, but…read morethey have the friendly service you can't find there. Great for daily items you need in a pinch, unique items, and for a hands-on experience.

My father (who passed at age 94) would drive down to this store several times per week to "check…read morewhether Shoe City has..." whatever item he "needed that day:" whether large or small, he knew after centuries of shopping there that they carry unique goods not found in most hardware stores. Even though their prices are generally HIGHER than elsewhere, he knew what he needed, wanted, and was a LOYAL & LONGTIME customer. After he passed, I would walk to Shoe City whenever I needed something, or walk in and browse as I passed those opened doors. I soon found for myself that their Customer Service is "spotty" & the stock they carry has diminished over the years. ON MY LAST VISIT, I stopped in to ask whether it was possible to special order components for an obscure/vintage "Weiser" doorknob. The older gentleman, who I believe is the owner, came up to me, rudely & very dismissively insisting that in 30+ years in the business he had "NEVER heard of the brand!" BOTTOM LINE: Perhaps Shoe City Hardware was once a great local hardware store with staff that helped customers find hard-to-find pieces nowhere else available. But now their GENERAL MERCHANDISE items are pricey & limited to 1 or 2 brands. And sadly, those unique/ classic "gems" that once kept loyal customers coming back have become leftovers from "old inventory" & no longer replenished. They have not had the simple, common items/solutions I'd been shopping for during my past 5 visits. I fear they are biding time until they go out of business. I wish them well. - a Disenchanted "Father's Little Girl"

Where do I begin. I…read moreordered my door back in April, arrived in May , great no problem, it was a custom sized door. My installer puts the door in and notices the extensions for a storm door we're never installed. So we check our paperwork and sure as anything they were on our invoice. Call my sales rep at JL and he realized they made a mistake. No problem he said we will have them out to you in two weeks and installed. Now let's fast forward , it is August and I still don't have them. I would call every two weeks, never would get an answer, left voicemails never a call back. My installer would call and everytime he would get a call back he would receive an email. No apologies nothing . Finally we had enough of this terrible service. I got a call in the morning from my installer and he said you need to call and give your CC # so you can get a $200 dollar refund and I will pick the parts up and install it myself. So I call and guess what no answer , but I left a vmail and guess what got a call back in two seconds which means he was sitting right next to his phone. He calls me up , no sorry no apology literally just said hi I'm ready for your CC #. I will never use this company again , Oh and I'm installing 3 more doors in my house this year and was planning on using them if it wasn't for this. Absolute jokes , spent 1600 on a door and they treat customers horrible. The only positive from the whole situation was the manager Peter that I spoke with. He was a good guy and finally started getting me some answers.

Online orders beware!! My plumber recommended I buy a new toilet at FW Webb. I knew exactly which…read morebrand and model I wanted, so I ordered online. When I received the email purchase confirmation, I immediately saw that another person's name and phone number were listed in my "bill to" section. The customer service and order inquiry links in the email didn't work - they bring you to a page that says "data not found". I called the local FW Webb, and they told me the order number wasn't one of theirs. They transferred me to corporate, but no one could tell me why a random name was in my invoice. They were able to look up the order, though. On Monday, November 3, 2025, a pallet with the boxes for a 2 piece toilet was left in the middle of my front walk. I was unable to lift the boxes myself, so I called the guest services number on November 4, 2025 to ask for someone to come back and help bring the boxes in. I was told by a customer service rep named Sean that they couldn't help me. This was my mistake. I can't remember the last time I worked with a higher end product company that didn't bring the product into your home, so I assumed they would. The website does say they only deliver to the curb, but it also says that larger delivers will be scheduled, so the customer can make arrangements to have help. No one called me to schedule the delivery, so I had no idea when they would arrive. The website also says that the customer needs to sign for the delivery, which did not happen. I also told Sean about the random person's name on my invoice and the links that do not work. Sean told me FW Webb was aware of these issues, but they couldn't figure out how to fix them. He told me most people buy the products through retail locations, so he's never had someone call him about product being left in their walkway. I asked how a customer was supposed to know how difficult the online order process would be, but he couldn't answer my question. Sean did his best to be helpful, but there wasn't anything he could do to help me. Given how horrible this situation had been, I told him to process a return. Sharing what happened so hopefully no one else will have to deal with all of these problems and wishing I had checked Yelp before I ordered the toilet. It's horrifying to see how many people have had such terrible experiences with this company.
