After going through a myriad of terrible dentists in my early 20's I was so relieved when a friend recommended to me Dr. Schwartz. Dr. Schwartz and his nurse/receptionist, Jill, run a very small two-man operation and I really like it that way. I prefer that all my procedures are done by a dentist; I've had terrible luck with dental hygienists in the past and I'd rather not deal with one again, if I can help it. Jill is really cool and friendly and makes you feel at home. I don't know if she has a great memory, or if she really cares - I suspect the latter- but she always seems to remember what's going on with you and your life and can recall conversations from the last time you were there. Dr. Schwartz is nice, but all business; I like it. He has to be the most competent & confident dentist I've ever dealt with, and believe me I've dealt with more than a few quacks. This is just the best doctor. I am impressed! Was in his office for new patient exam and cleaning. It took 1 h 30 mins. He examed every millimetre of my teeth and x-rays, soft tissues, pocket depth, tmj, saliva glands, lymphatic nodes -- E V E R Y thing. Lots of doctors don't put that much time and attention for exam. Asked a lot of questions about previous ortho treatment. Very attentive and experienced doctor! Very honest, not trying to sell you procedures you don't need. Dr. Schwartz is the real deal. I came to him for a cleaning after a questionable experience at another dentist, and he assuaged all of my concerns and didn't try to sell me on procedures that I didn't need. At the other dentist, I felt like I was part of a factory (multiple hygienists saw me, and the dentist herself only briefly). But at Dr. Schwartz's office, he performed the whole cleaning, beginning to end. He's basically a one-man operation (although Jill, his receptionist and nurse helped out during a later filling procedure that I had). I found Dr. Schwartz on yelp, in 2008, soon after I moved to California. I just wanted a second opinion, because a dentist in Palo Alto told me I needed $2000 worth of dental work including 1 root canal and 2 crowns! I didn't believe her so I went to Dr. Schwartz after I read some good reviews here. And Dr. Schwartz told me, after a thorough examination, that "maybe I don't know how to make money, but there is only a minor filling needed." The tooth showed some shadowed area, which means the decay was just getting started. So needless to say, I walked away happily with a painless filling. Ever since then, my whole family go to Dr. Schwartz and I have never had any tooth problems! Dr. Schwartz does not strike me as an almost sales persona that is so common in most dentists nowadays. Rather, he is very real and maintains a curious mind. My daughter has a "special" tooth that has a rare shape, and Dr. Schwartz explained in details what it is and different scenarios and treatment plans as she grows. He even showed me his textbook where the condition of this tooth is explained. I now moved to eastbay, but I faithly drive to Sunnyvale to see Dr. Schwartz and won't let another dentist touch my teeth :) read more

I have been a patient for 20+ years. (my parents and grandparents were patients) There was one short period of time when I didn't have medical/dental coverage and due to an emergency, I was forced to go to Western Dental. WD was a nightmare! When I got my coverage back, I went back to Dr Schwartz and he fixed what WD had done. I will NEVER go anywhere else. Dr Schwartz's office is clean!! He has the magic touch when it comes to getting the numbing injection, Jill has always been so pleasant and accommodating to my schedule. I live in Hayward but I do not mind driving to Sunnyvale, they are worth it! Especially now when I see what my boyfriend has to deal with having his HMO and garbage selection in dental offices. Dr. Schwartz was recommended to me by a family member as I was searching for a new dentist when my previous dentist no longer subscribed to my insurance. In addition to regular cleanings I needed a crown on my one and only root canal. The crown process was most excellent; after meticulously processing and measuring my crown was ready to be ordered from the lab. He gave me the free option of going to the lab to have the color precisely matched to my teeth. This was fun and took the trained technician less than a minute. Before installing the crown he filed it repeatedly until no pressure was felt on the surrounding teeth. This led to a professionally done crown where some days I don't even recall which tooth it was. I am now pain-free and my teeth look and feel great! The cleanings are done directly by Dr. Schwartz and are thorough, he gets every nook and crevice. He also answers teeth, cleaning and care questions to helpful detail. read more

the day i went in with my mom, it was a good day. we were happy going to get our teeth cleaned. we stepped inside and everything was reversed. my mom sat down and i don't know what dr. bruce did, but he didn't inject the epinephrine in the right place. in fact, he didn't inject the epinephrine at all. my mom drank some of it. she started panicking, and dr. bruce started thinking she was overexaggerating and having a panic attack. bruce could have explained himself, but he didn't. they called the paramedics and dr. bruce started defending himself saying he didn't do anything. he started laughing along with the paramedics. them and sunnyvale paramedics laughed their pants off while my mom and i were worrrying our pants off. then he went into the waitng room and started laughing with other patients that we were faking it. by god, what a demon. so much for patient confidentiality. will never return. it is not okay for a professional doctor or dentist to laugh at their patients and frame them as the bad guy. do yourself a favor - never go to his office for anything. he has five stars all across but i'm warning you. hope covid put him out of business. read more

He and his assistant Jill have been working together for over 20 years and have the tag teaming down to a science. A childhood dental trauma plagued patient, I have been seeing him since 1992 and cannot recommend him nearly enough. It's easy to get an appointment, they do your insurance billing for you, and the care is always honest and exceptionally provided. You might think that times, economics -- or the new wave of oversized veneer chicklet smiles would change his approach to one more centered on profit than care but such is not the case. The dental work was good. The office is poorly run - it took 2 calls to get treatment plans or bills. When frustrated, the dentist gets impatient and rude. I'm a dental-phobic, and when my anxiety made me tense, he responded with hostility and impatience, which made it worse. There was little follow-up and it was obvious that they were trying to drive me away as a patient - they succeeded. I've never had such rude treatment. I needed another crown and a filling, and no effort was made to schedule time; even though I'd been told that's what was needed at the first visit (which was great), when I asked what I needed next after one crown was done, he said that there was nothing needed. I don't recommend this dentist unless you're sure he'll like you. I pay my bills promptly, am on time for appointments - so that's not the issue. I don't know what was, but I'm not going back. Don't expect caring service here - you may not get it. read more
