Coffee is pretty good (I get an iced americano). Matcha is usually good but sometimes a little milky. The customer service is usually pretty bland and can come across as rude. There have been a few occasions where the employee doesn't bother to respond or make any eye contact. They seem to be in a constant rush even when it's slow. Pastries have been pretty stale too... possibly frozen and then thawed out. At least they have some vegan options ‍

Parking for Bru was a tad difficult, but if you don't mind walking, there's plenty of street parking a few blocks away. The walk over wasn't too bad, though the sidewalks weren't the most accessible if you have wheelchair. Finding Bru was also a tad difficult, since their sign is blocked by their arbor; I didn't even know I entered til I did! Working and studying at Arbor is quite pleasant, with seating options downstairs and upstairs on the loft. There's also a nice large table downstairs for larger groups. I had my usual latte (iced), and it was okay. The beans weren't , but it also wasn't poor. I also appreciated the staff's service for providing a cup of ice since I accidentally ordered a latte, not knowing they naturally came hot. In addition to seating options and a variety of coffee options, they also have a corner stocked full of merchandise from small businesses and the local community. I especially enjoyed spending time at these displays!

Super cute coffee shop in LA! Love how there is a good amount of seating, and the chill vibes make it the perfect peaceful study spot (especially with loft seating on top!) I asked what drink was most recommended and the barista said they made all their syrups in house, so I tried the vanilla iced latte. As someone who likes strong coffee and coffee that is not too sweet, this was perfect! You could even see the little bits of vanilla bean in the syrup they use. They have some really unique drinks (e.g. a root beer float with coffee) that I'd be interested in trying another time :)

I wasn't super impressed, sadly. I got a Chai Latte with almond milk. I thought it was super bland and didn't have the typical chai spice I was looking for and craving. Pretty disappointed by that. Would definitely not recommend. They have some pastries - some vegan, some gluten-free, some regular. I got the Morning Glory muffin, a vegan muffin with carrot and raisins. It was pretty good! Much of it stuck to the wrapper. Both items came out to a little over $11 so prices are kinda steep. They have a lot of fun gift items inside: cards, funny mugs and journals, etc which all seem locally sourced. There's seating inside and a very small amount of seating outside. Didn't find the barista very friendly but maybe an off day.

10/10 for the vibe, but I thought the oat matcha latte was okay and over priced (nearly $8). The lemonade was also extremely sweet. The loft upstairs is super cozy and has an amazing view of the store with a ton of sunlight. There's only one outlet in the shop so be prepared if you're doing work.

YES! I was nearby getting a PCR test at Sameday Health and saw this cute lil coffee shop and decided to take a chance. Let's face it. We all have our go-to's and it's hard to try something new sometimes, but I was in the mood for testing the waters. I noticed that Bru Coffeebar carries Ritual Coffee, which is one of my fav coffee spots in the bay (Napa - Oxbow Market!) and had an inkling that this place may have some type of roots in the bay. This also makes me extremely happy as a fellow Bay-Arean (sp? lol) The gentleman had on a Warriors hat, so non-verbal confirmation has been made! Hahaha. I got up to the register and ordered a pistachio-almond croissant and an iced matcha latte w/ almond milk. Wow, let me share that I'm not big on pastries. But the green color of the pistachios were calling me! The croissant was delicious with light sweetness and notes from the almond "filling" and crushed pistachios on top. The matcha was cool, but will probably opt for an iced latte w/ almond milk next time. I'll be back soon!! xo

I'm going to up all night , 2 espresso shots & a touch of cream....

PREVIOUS REVIEW2 It's been a while since I've been here the previous time. In addition to being very nice last time (except for the logistics of ordering and the non-functioning power outlets), the please remains a peaceful oasis and the ordering process has improved since. Most importantly, the coffee remains delicious, and the tomato basil tart was a wonderful quick lunch followed by a multi berry muffin. PREVIOUS REVIEW1 Cute little place in Atwater Village!! So cute with peaceful, relaxing and quiet atmosphere (inside/outside) that I thought I could get some work done (free WiFi). The concept is a bit confusing: There are a bunch of "menu items" such as sandwiches and wraps etc, but while they are listed on a big board behind the counter, you have to actually grab them premade/prepacked from a fridge ... The Vegan Smokey BBQ Wrap was very good except for the short and transient moment when I opened the container, but after all it was actually fresh, juicy and had a great flavor mix. The Mex Mocha with Almond milk (alternatives are available) was delicious, and I paired it with a GF Orange Chia Bread Loaf. PS: I'm neither Vegan nor GF fanatic... What really defied the purpose of coming here was the non-working power outlets, and the manager not taking care of it. My laptop unfortunately does not have a TESLA battery and hence I did not last for 2 hours... PS: I neither have a TESLA nor a Prius either ... Tip: Parking on this side of the street can be tough, look on the other side ...

Cute decor and vibes inside. I wanted to try the pistachio bliss that everyone seemed to rave about but since their seasonal menu was out, I went for the toffee nut iced latte. So many people define themselves as experts. Sadly, many of those same people will walk in and say things like, "Gosh, I'm tired, could you make me a double espresso?", clearly assuming that stronger taste automatically means more caffeine. My wife and I simply like a good coffee in the morning. Which leads to the obvious question: what do we define as "good coffee"? For us, it helps us get into the day, tastes pleasant, and does not leave a bitter note. We are absolutely not coffee experts and can discuss coffee, at best, at what we Germans would call "Thekenniveau" -- bar-counter level. I do understand, however, that it may make a difference whether beans were roasted weeks or even months ago somewhere remote, then shipped and stored, or whether they were roasted locally and recently. So we asked ChatGPT, and one of the recommendations was REGENT Coffee in our neighborhood. We went. Our directive was very clear: we explained that we knew little to nothing about coffee, which was precisely why we had come in and were looking for advice. The lady helping us started with: "Well, it all comes down to the settings of your coffee machine when you pour your espresso." I responded that we are not really espresso drinkers -- we drink Americano. She gave us "the look" and explained that an Americano is espresso with more water. The information: fair enough. The way it was communicated: not ideal if your goal is to win me as a customer. From there, the conversation did not really lead anywhere. We were asked questions such as whether we preferred nutty or fruity coffee. That may be a perfectly reasonable question for someone who already knows what those terms mean in practical taste terms. But we had just told her that we did not. That was the entire reason we were there. We were not looking to prove our coffee knowledge. We were looking for someone who had the expertise to guide us. In the end, we bought an Americano. It was served so hot that my wife burned her mouth in the car, and it took almost the entire 45-minute drive to Santa Monica before it had reached what we considered a comfortable drinking temperature. It cost $5. And we did not even particularly like it. Would I go again? No. Would I recommend REGENT based on this experience? No. What makes this particularly disappointing is that this was a tremendous lost opportunity to turn us into long-term customers. We like expert advice. We drive to Farmers Markets to buy fresh produce knowing full well that we may pay 200% more for something that is perhaps only 15% better. But we can taste the difference, and that makes it worthwhile to us. Coffee could have been exactly the same. If I specialized in coffee, I would make it incredibly easy for people like us to enter that world. I would offer tastings. I would explain, in simple language, what "nutty", "fruity", "chocolatey", "bright", "smooth" or "low acidity" actually mean in the cup. I might offer a short class on how to set up a home coffee machine properly. Maybe even machine-specific sessions. Maybe in the shop. Maybe at the customer's home. Because there are customers walking through the door saying, quite literally: "We know very little. We want advice. We are willing to spend money." And even better from a business perspective: Not just money once. Continuous money. Imagine if the conversation had instead started with: "I totally understand where you are coming from. Coffee can become unnecessarily complicated very quickly. Since you mostly drink Americano and want something smooth rather than bitter, let me give you two small tastes so you can understand the difference. Then I'll recommend one bean to start with." We would almost certainly have bought a bag. Possibly two. And if we had liked them, we might have bought beans there for years. Instead, they sold us one tiny cup for $5 over the counter, while the payment screen suggested an 18-25% tip. And two potentially very loyal customers walked out frustrated. That, to me, is the real business lesson here. It is not about whether REGENT makes good or bad coffee. Taste is subjective. It is about recognizing the customer who is standing right in front of you. Especially when that customer is effectively saying: "Please teach me how to spend more money with you." And then making sure you do not send them home without doing exactly that. Small caffeine footnote: espresso is more concentrated in caffeine per ounce, but a normal serving of drip coffee usually contains more total caffeine than a single espresso because the serving is much larger. Stronger taste does not automatically mean more caffeine.
