I am a wimp when it comes to needles. I originally had my tattoos done about 20 years ago in SF Chinatown (back in the old days). Then, Microblading done over a year ago but the color didn't stay and the corrections from my old tattoos were still visible. Also, I wasn't totally satisfied with my shape either. I came to Maureen a few months ago and "WOW" I was so impressed by her creativity, her honesty, and off course her professionalism. She was able to give me a new shape, color correct my 20 years old tattoos and now I look like a new person. Totally worth coming to her! Maureen examine my face feature and my old tattoos and immediately she said I have oily skin around my eyes and microblading alone won't work on me. She inform me to add microshading to it. It's similar to microblading, but instead of drawing hair-like strokes, she fill in with strategic, powdery specks of pigment. The result came out natural looking contour...amazing! The first shape she drew on me was already an A+ but she tries other shapes too until I am 100% satisfied with it. Her embroidery technique was unbelievable! Maureen is amazing! Not only is she reasonable with her pricing, she is genuinely honest. I have my brows microbladed twice before from another artist. Just right I booked my appointment for the same artist, my brother's girlfriend told me about Maureen. After viewing her Instagram, I cancelled my appointment with my regular artist and booked with Maureen. On our consultation, I told Maureen I was interested in the microblading/shading method but after telling her that I done microblading twice and it fade within the year, she immediately recommended that I just go for ombré shading for longer lasting. After answering all my questions, Maureen started to draw in my brows to make sure it was what I wanted. Because I had previous work done, she was very limited with helping me shape my brows because she has to hide the previous work. Needless to say, she drew them in flawlessly. The process getting the brow ombré was not painful to me at all. She does numb your brows and will constantly ask you if you are in pain or not because she will reapply numbing cream if you are. She also take sanitation very seriously so you know you are in good hands. My healing process took about 10 days. I follow the instructions that Maureen gives you in a very thoughtful care bag. My brows healed so perfectly that at the touch-up session today, I was not able to tell her what I want her to fix at all. I literally walked in and told her that the brows are perfect. Even though they are, Maureen still filled in certain area that only she saw that needed more ink on. I'm so glad I went with Maureen for my brows and have been telling everyone around me about her. This review is long overdue, but I'm so happy Maureen did my ombré brows! I wanted someone who would listen to what I wanted and didn't want. When I first saw her, I came in with a long laundry list. Lol! I was so afraid that I would look like Bert, Angry Bird, or that someone would comment, "did you tattoo your eyebrows??" or worse- all 3 of the aforementioned. Maureen listened to all my concerns and what I ended up with are amazing, natural looking brows. She never ever tried to push me beyond my comfort zone for shape, size, etc. and made sure I was happy before starting! I'm so happy! The hubby even loves it! Like others I did lots of research and portfolio browsing aka stalking lol before committing to something that I would say is a fairly important decision. I had previously gone to a quite reputable microblading artist but she was so busy that I couldn't wait that far out (I'm talking 6 months out). After browsing all over the Bay Area trying to find a reputable brow artist I decided to select Maureen. I must admit at first I was bummed how long I would have to wait to be seen by her but let me tell you it was worth the wait! Like others she is very skilled at what she does. Super sweet, communicative, and her job is one of the best I have seen around the bay. I can't begin to tell you how many compliments I have received and inquires from others after having my brows done from the new shape, to the color to the brows themselves. I even got compliments from others in her field who asked about my brows. That should say something right??? Her shop is chic and clean. Parking is super easy though it is located on the second floor. At a high level, upon arriving you'll sign some forms. She'll go over your brows then shape, map, chart, color etc. She'll give you her honest opinion and etc so that both you and her have realistic outcomes/expectations. Once you agree only then will she begin to work officially on you. The whole process takes about two hours. It did not hurt at all since she applied numbing cream and explains just about every step and what she is about to do next. Healing was pretty straightforward very much like a tattoo if you have one. She sends you home with a kit and voila in less than two weeks you look like a new person! Will definitely be returning and sending people to her. She is a gem! You won't regret going to her. Maureen is absolutely amazing! I was hesitant about getting this procedure done because my skin is of darker complexion and its really oily. I thought the color would not penetrate. The Ombrè Powder technique is perfect for oily skin. I received my first treatment on Saturday OCT 6th, my brows are healing great! I am looking forward to my touch-up on NOV 3rd. Sadly, I grew up during the phase of thin brows. The thinner you went, the cooler you are.. or so I thought. Who would've thunk that 20 years later thick brows are a trend again?
