It's been an amazing experience at Kings Tattoo. Lucky welcomed me into the shop with open arms. Just came back from the military to finish up my right arm and I feel like it's my 3rd home. He's professional and really clean. TV be rolling & music be bumpin. The whole shop is a vibe! Lucky basically finished a sleeve for me, all I just need some background in some empty spots. Lucky knows how to keep a conversation going. He's really nice and ask me for breaks when he sees me fucking dying. That was the worst pain I ever experienced, but it was worth it. It took 10 hours and 30 minutes to finish this tattoo and in my opinion it's a 10/10 for me! Can't wait to heal this sick ass tat. After losing our parents, me and my 2 sisters wanted to get tattoos that symbolized our connection. We are all we have left now. King's was local and had great reviews from what I could see. The only person that works at King's Tattoo is Lucky. He did all of our tattoos ($150 each). We were so happy. That day. But the healing process was awful for all three of us. The writings faded, the hearts literally fell off. And it showed flaws with the tats themselves. Hearts uneven, or don't even connect, sloppy. Well I've reached out to Lucky on several occasions asking him if he could touch up our tats. He didn't want to see the image of how they healed. Odd right? He gave me the run around, booked us a month in advance then cancelled the day before, he's too busy or just haven't responded as of late. I even asked if another artist there could touch them up...but apparently he's the only one working there. We will go some place else. It was so easy for him to book us and take the $450 we paid. But when it came time to fix the tats, he ghosted. My older sister's tat looks so bad she is having it covered up and redone by someone else. I have never been disappointed in a tattoo until now. I do not recommend. At all. Unprofessional and messed up on 3 of the simplest tats. How do you mess up all 3? Lucky only wanted to communicate on Yelp so hopefully he sees this. There are amazing tattoo shops in San Leandro...dont go to Thieves Tattoo, I mean King's Tattoo. Lucky will take your money, mess up his own work and ghost you. read more

In short- don't look any further- Pat@ Kings the man and I couldn't be happier with my very first tattoo! I am near 40 now and had never gotten a tattoo before, so with much trepidation and care, I began my search for the artist who would be able to tell my story and leave a legacy on my skin for the rest of my earthly life. So glad to have found this artist in Pat at King's Tattoo. I visited and consulted with 6 (SIX!) different shops (2 in Fremont, 2 in Dublin, 1 in Hayward, and this one in San Leandro) - all found through Yelp, mind you, and most of them with 5 to 15 times more reviews, but ultimately decided on Pat and am so glad I did. Here are the reasons I went with him. 1) Every person ultimately has to choose the tattoo artist that they feel most comfortable with but the first reason I went with Pat is because, more than anyone else I talked to, he makes you feel like a FRIEND from the moment you walk in. Not all, but many of the other places I went to felt so ... business-y. I don't know how to describe it other than kind of stuffy and filled with waivers and procedures and getting you in and out as quick as possible. Nothing against them...I run a business, too, and completely respect this part of it, but didn't want to feel like a product on an assembly line for something so important. Pat was warm and chill and laid back from the beginning. He patiently listened to my idea and offered a creative suggestion that ultimately improved upon it. (More on that in point #2.) Throughout the tattoo process he was also quick to implement any suggestions I had based on what I wanted. 2) TALENT. Can't believe that as of 2018 this man has "only" been tattooing for six years! Years don't mean anything if you don't have talent and this man has it in spades. As of June 2018 his Instagram handle is @kings_projectpat (this may change over time). Check it out! The man's work is so clean! He truly is versatile with regard to styles of tattoos, doing everything from realistic/futuristic black and whites to color. Look at my tattoo! I love it! So here's my story: I was born and raised in Hawaii and these iconic islands are known as "The Mokes" located off the east side of Oahu off the beautiful shores of Lanikai (one of the Top 10 beaches in the world). I came to Christ when I was 18 and was baptized on those very shores. At first I knew I wanted the cross and the islands but wasn't sure where to put the cross. He suggested that I incorporate it into the waters as a sign of my baptism...genius! Look at his line work on my tattoo! The outline of my cross is perfect and so clean. Look at the detail of the islands! The shading is so nuanced and detailed and the outline could not have turned out any better; all my Hawaii friends instantly recognize it. Also check out the texture and the gradations of shading on my beautiful blue ocean....love it! 3) AFFORDABILITY. I ain't gonna tell you how much it cost (you can message me though), but suffice it to say, based on the hourly rates the other places quoted me, if these other places had taken the time that Pat had on my tattoo, this tattoo would have easily cost 3-4 times as much. Pat took so much time and care with my tattoo. You can tell he is truly proud of his craft and cares about each and every final product. I loved the fact that he quoted me based on my piece versus hourly so I didn't need to poop my pants watching the clock and hours and seeing my bank account shrink. Pat is kind, talented, easy on the budget, and quick to respond to messages (not the case with many other parlors, I assure you). I recommend him wholeheartedly and without hesitation. Clean shop in a great location. The shop is near tons of restaurants, and located on a Main Street. Easy to find and parking isn't a problem. Vinam is the owner and he is extremely professional and has a great eye with a steady hand. He keeps in constant communication with you and makes sure he's on the same page with what you want. I highly recommend this shop for all new customers and even those who want their next tattoo. Pat took my vision, put his own twist on it and created a bad ass sketch. In my head I thought, "if he does half of what the sketch looks like, i'd be happy." Well, Pat nailed it and it turned out great! What really impressed me was how straight the lines turned out. My piece went from a third up my quad all the way down to my ankle and with all the curves and bumps of the muscles and bones, he still managed to line up the template perfectly the first attempt. Pat really is light handed too and I barely felt the needle. Sure, I used a numbing cream he recommended, but after it wore off, I didn't tear up or cringe. Even the shading on the knee cap was painless. After each session my tattoo appeared to have been healed completely after a few days. He gave clear instructions on how to care for the artwork as to not ruin a masterpiece. I appreciated how clean the shop was and how easy it is to talk to Pat and Vi (the other artist) as well as other guests who drop by. It's a really chill and friendly environment and if you don't feel like telling stories, they play movies on their huge tv. I'll return if we can come up with some other innovative piece. read more
