Update: I would like to respond to Shaila's response. Due to the word limit, I had to delete my original review in order to respond to her claims. I screenshot pictures of my original review and added the pictures to this review for the viewers context. (See below) Shaila, It clearly states on your website that there is a 5 min grace period after the appointment. This is LA for goodness sake. However, I'm all about respecting people's time. Anytime that I was late it was within a few minutes of my actual appointment and I always apologized with grace. I want to make clear that Shaila never once expressed discomfort or annoyance at my tardiness. In fact, it was quite the opposite. I always apologized immediately upon walking into the appointment if I was a few minutes late, and she would act super chill and reassure me that all was good. So I never once thought that this would be a concern, especially one leading her to make such a drastic move like blocking me as a client, especially with no warning! Shaila, people cannot read minds. You cannot on one hand reassure me through your words that anytime I was late that it was ok and nothing to worry about, and then turn around and just ghost me without explanation. That makes no sense, and especially from a business/leadership standpoint, just shows that you have very poor communication, business and interpersonal skills. Everyone deserves at least one chance to correct a behavior if it's bothering someone, especially one that they aren't even made aware of. The fact that you couldn't even express your discomfort, and at the very least give me a warning, so that I could correct a problem that I wasn't even aware was a problem, is seriously concerning and is more of a testament to your character instead of mine. I'm going to safely assume that you blocked me in your booking system a month ago after my last appointment. So all of this time you didn't feel the need to give me a heads up that you would no longer take me as a client, and I don't think that you ever had plans on saying anything. Hence why my messages were getting ignored. So what was your plan? To just leave me hanging in silence and hope that I magically read your mind? What if I would have naively showed up at your studio to get in contact with you thinking that my messages weren't going through because your booking system was broke? Can you imagine how awkward that would have been?! All of this chaos could have simply been avoided if you would have put on your big girl pants and spoke up if something was bothering you. Lastly, the subliminals were for me. I would respect you more if you stood on business and not cower from your petty choice. If you were bold enough to block me with no explanation, ignore my messages, and post subs directly after I message you after instagram showed that you opened my message, then I expect for you to stand 10 toes down on your decision and own it. I did have to ask for directions as it was a bit confusing to find the location - the construction going on in some of the other spa suites also added to the confusion. All that aside, once I made it in, everything was fantastic. I hadn't been able to add a lip wax to my appointment when I booked, but she added it on no problem, and I left with my brows perfectly shaped. She was also very kind and friendly. Shaila changed my appointment from 45 to 30 minutes without letting me know, so we didn't have time to do my brows. I booked the appointment 3 weeks in advance, pretty disappointed she would change it and not tell me. Update: I ended up being 6 minutes late Shaila and had booked time for both brows and lip. It would have made sense to say "sorry I cannot do brows" but to not take me at all felt pretty ridiculous to me. The way Shaila retold the conversation below is inaccurate. I thought I would be 10 minutes late, then updated to 6 minutes late. I posted the conversation below. After 3 times of her telling me she would not see me to even do 1 of the services, then, I said fine I would just go down the street to the threading place. What else am I supposed to do? Disappointing experience. I scheduled a brow wax/tint with Shaila. My appointment was for 1:45 and I walked in at 1:54 because I was having a tough time finding a place to park. At 1:54, Shaila is nowhere to be found. No note on door, no answer to my calls. Waited for about 7 minutes and at around 2:02pm she returns, and tells me she has no time to do my tint because I was late. Ummm, I was 9 minutes late which I know not ideal, but she was 7 minutes late. And I drove 30 minutes as a first time client. If every minute counts, don't disappear and then blame me for not having enough time to complete the appointment. read more

I have to admit I'm a little disappointed. Shaila did a great job shaping my eye brows but that's it. For someone like me eyebrows are extremely important but so is my financial situation and the dent a beauty expense can put into my pocket. The charge.. It's $45 to get your eyebrows done. I have been to SO many estheticians and of all the amazing spas, and salons Shaila was the most expensive. Her products don't give the wow factor what so ever. The eye brow pencil is non retractable and must be sharpened-- I think I'll pass. Brow powder, not a good match. The ambiance of her little studio is adorable, but in all fairness $45 for a mediocre eye brow wax/pluck..? Id rather not. Found Shaila from Instagram and booked with her immediately! She was super friendly, and explained exactly why and how she did waxing, tweezing and henna tinting when I asked several questions. My daughter was blessed with full brows. You know the kind that can make your heart go pitter patter when arched for no reason? And along with having such gorgeous full brows requires much grooming. I started to take my daughter to a local in Santa Monica who I shall not name but let's just call her "grumpy brows" and at "grumpy brows" we'd get no smile, no "how's your day going", nothing. But still, we liked her service, and we're very loyal customers. One day we finally decided it was probably time to look elsewhere. I don't know maybe it was the lack of communication in telling us ahead of time that she no longer accepts credit cards, cash only. Or maybe it was because she sent an email saying to text her when outside because she was keeping the doors locked, but didn't provide her cell phone. Or maybe it was because when we did text her while we were outside, she kept us waiting for 45 minutes!!! Yes. Maybe it was because of one of those reasons, who knows anyhow glad all that happened because we stumbled upon Ms Shaila! An absolute angel with the sweetest soul, and kind and so gentle with her hands that my kid literally falls asleep in her chair. I don't just trust anyone with my kid, I'm one of those mothers who are fiercely protective. That and well I'm Aries rising Leo (nuff said), but it's gotten to the point where I just send my daughter inside and wait for her in the car because I completely trust Shaila and know my daughter is in good hands.
