Took my truck to this location to be washed today 6/26/26 and was rear ended by another vehicle while in the wash tunnel. In exiting the tunnel I was expecting the attendant to acknowledge this happened and offer assistance but that was not the case. I approached an attendant to discuss this matter and he just laughed at me and advised to get the insurance from the car that hit me. I am shocked Brown Bear car wash is lackadaisical in their business practice to allow a car to continue in the tunnel and rear end a vehicle, the attendants main job is to ensure the launch area is clear and safe so that this does not happen but beware as Brown Bear will assume no responsibility over these safety violations. The best thing to do is to avoid this location and other locations that assume this behavior and do not take responsibility for their mishaps. read more

Dropped by this amazing self serve car wash while on a very long road trip. Drove from California through Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho visiting national parks before making it into Seattle. This is the first car wash I've seen with heated water. Maybe it's PacNW thing but we definitely don't have heated high pressure water in socal. This is also the first place with a spray gun with triple coat rainbow suds. Definitely got all the road grime and bugs off the front of my car and roof box in a hurry. Socal needs stuff like this for sure. read more

I was disappointed by what I got for the price at this car wash. I am used to getting a dash wipe to clean the inside of my car while I got through the wash and recover nothing and then after I paid I asked about vaccuums and apparently they charge $2 EXTRA to use a vacuum for 5 minutes only. I'll start by saying I've been here many times with each of my cars over the years. Have never had a single issue until now. I bring my car through on the 7/17 like normal and come out the other end with large repeated marks on the driver's side of my car. Immediately after getting home I notice the damage and call for a manager and am told I'd need to meet her in the morning. After meeting she immediately proclaims this damage can't be from her wash, despite the evidence to the contrary. (Strokes of abrasion from a rotating brush head) I asked what would be done to fix this and was given no definite answer. (As some background: I do vehicle inspections and work with dealerships for a living.) I'm not asking for too much. People need to be good to one another and do what's right. UPDATE: Have spoken with the manager and we inspected the damage together and everything is able to be buffed. He was very professional and is assisting with getting some light buffing done. I'll start by saying that the staff here is great and that the store is run nicely. But the self car wash is a nightmare 90% of the time. There's no form of traffic control so you end up with cars trying to pull into the bays from both sides, on more than one occasion I've found myself sandwiched in the wash bay with cars blocking the narrow driveway on what should be the exit side and cars lined up behind me. Half the time when I come to this location I end up deciding it's not worth the hassle and just leave. Putting some effort into directing traffic to only line up on one side of the wash would help a lot. read more

Horrible!! I went through the car wash in Redmond Wa Avondale location. I went through at 7 pm last night. I returned home and realized my car was still really dirty. The manager at this location was not helpful to me. I have gone through brown bear car wash over 200 time I'm my life and maybe have asked to go through again 10 times in my life if my car is still dirty. It has never been an issue before. Folks really need to set expectations correctly here given the price, convenience, and opportunity costs relative to doing it yourself. This also includes statistically acceptable damage to one's car. If you can't handle the risk or the uncertainty - or the vibes you're picking up after reading all of the 1-3 star reviews here - don't use them. The worker guiding us into the car wash wasn't paying attention at all. Our tires were grinding on the rails while we were going through the car wash because we weren't positioned properly. He had a squirt bottle that didn't even reach our car, so not sure what the purpose of that was. There are never enough vacuums. We have come multiple different times on different days and there are never any available, and too many people waiting for a spot. Maybe it's better with the self serve car wash. I took a detour on the way home because I have always had a great experience at other Brown Bears, and my kids were excited to go through a car wash. After waiting 10 minutes at the Redmond Way entrance as the cars in front of me zippered with the cars entering the NE 70th entrance, the attendant comes out to tell me to go "to the end of the line", meaning the NE 70th entrance behind all the other cars who came after me. When I asked him to point me to the sign or cones directing traffic, he pointed to the next entrance/exit. This was completely irrelevant since it was not the one I entered from. Ultimately, even after I explaining why I was understandably confused (given the lack of signage and me observing other cars in front of me zipper in with those entering from NE 70th), he insinuated I was cutting in line. No respect of empathy for customers whatsoever. I will still frequent other Brown Bear locations but strongly advise against this location until they can fix the traffic control and customer service. read more

Where to start. I purchased the car wash inside the Chevron. When I drove up to the wash, nobody sprayed my car, nobody wiped the windshield, and nobody wiped my wheels. Paying to drive through the automatic wash is fine, granted my car comes out clean on the other side. Unfortunately, it did not. Unfortunately, there were bits of black foam padding-type things, my license plate was bent, and a rubber on my windshield came off. The head lights had grimy streaks and the wheels still had black marks. WTF. I go to the Lynnwood Brown Bear and the boys wipe the whole car down, wipe the tires, and the car comes out shining. I happily tip. Nothing against Brown Bear, but shame and blame on the management and staff at this location. Horrible experience. read more

The attendant - the only attendant working at the time, verbally confirmed and said "9.00 please", so he clearly heard which service I asked for. When I exited the car wash, I noticed he had actually charged $12.00 for an upgraded wash without telling me. I kept the receipt but now I wish I'd recorded him confirming. I didn't get his name but the attendant was a young guy maybe 20 or so with brown hair. This was at 2:28 in the afternoon on 8/12. If this is how Brown Bear operates, that is, upcharging customers without telling them, I'm staying away from them. That's a dirty way to do business. read more

If you listen closely...you can hear a roar from the brown bear or it could be my tummy. Brown Bear is thee convenient spot to clean your vehicle on the Eastside and get your gas filled up at the same time. The car wash does a good job cleaning my cars plus the wheels. Only place I trust to clean my car and does a good job on my rims. Three different options to clean your car. Discounts if you get gas here. The staff is friendly and efficient. The store has just the normal drinks and snacks but no hot deli so a minus star there. If you like to wash your car manually, plenty of stalls on the right side to do it yourself. Standard air and vacuum in the back. Tip: Ask the carwash attendant to hand you a clean wet towel so you can clean the inside of your car. Every anniversary they offer free carwashes so go early to get it done. read more

This is my go-to car wash. For an automated drive-through wash, they do a pretty good job, and the prices are reasonable. I always get the least expensive option as I've heard from others that it doesn't pay to get the add-on options. What I like: the guys who work here have always been super-nice and helpful. They remember to take my magnets off my rear bumper and to retract my antennae (when I always forget). They are always friendly and seem to always be in a good mood (how is that possible?!!). They accept their $1 off coupons even if the coupons are long expired. I believe there's a discount if you purchase gas here, too (although I never purchase gas here). The wash itself is pretty thorough. I'm not saying it's equivalent to a hand-wash job, but it's pretty good, and totally worth the price. I like the set-up with the vaccuum stalls outside, too. They work well and aren't pricey. I believe going here is environmentally more friendly than washing your car yourself in your own driveway. (Note: I've never used the self-wash stalls here, so I can't comment on them). What can be improved: for some reason, whenever my car exits the drive-through wash, it's still pretty wet. The air dryer doesn't thoroughly dry the car, windows,side mirrors or windshield. Sure, you can ask for a towel prior to entering the drive-through, so when you exit, you have the means to dry off your car yourself. But if you forget to ask for the towel, you're screwed. Also, be forewarned of the lay-out of the exit area of this car wash: there are cars driving helter skelter through the lot here, jockeying for vaccuum stalls, self-wash stalls, and going to and from the gas pumps, to and from the street exit. It can be pretty dicey exiting this car wash. read more

That you know about this and do nothing to warn people is utterly shameful. Update: "Molly," Brown Bear knows this is a problem, yet Brown Bear continues to use this on unsuspecting customers without informing them? Your guidance is for me to have to try things that YOU do before and during the wash after the fact to try deal with this problem that could have easily been avoided by Brown Bear, and hope it works?! What an awful response! I called the location and they don't know anyone named Molly. Who are you, what is your position? Please offer some actual customer service here! And why in the world does Brown Bear perfume the outside of a car? ‍ BIG MISTAKE! Went through their car wash and immediately got hit with a super-strong cheap perfume/air freshener smell. Now my new car reeks of this disgusting odor blasting through my air vents, which makes me physically sick. If you're at all averse to strong, cheap synthetic odor--or just don't want your call stinking of it--stay away. I'd prefer a dirty car. I'm so heartbroken over this; truly, I'm gutted. Well, I needed a car wash and so I came here because it was close. I can't imagine how a car wash would be much different from one place to another, but this place got the job done at the lowest cost with nothing extra added. There's really no point in getting the extra options because even the cheapest one will completely clean the exterior of your car. Prices AFTER Washington State's 9.5% sales tax are seven dollars for the cheapest one, ten dollars for some more stuff, and thirteen dollars for the best one. In all honesty, you only need the cheapest one for seven dollars. It drops down to six dollars if you had an eight-gallon minimum fill-up at the adjoining Chevron gas station, like that one dollar is going to make much of a difference. There's also a mini-mart and a bear statue here. I guess that's enough to warrant a four-star rating. read more

I sort of have experience with car wash places. So off the bat, the auto-washing machine is not a "brush-less" washer. Common sense should tell you to not drive your "new" car through there. On the other hand, if you have a used car with some dings and chips, the machine will do a decent job on your car. Now that I've got that off my chest, this is actually a pretty good self-service washing place. I have a fairly new car and I normally hand wash it. What you need to do is bring about $10 worth in either $1 bills or quarters and allocate an hour of your precious free time. First, rinse your car off, then use the soap foaming brush to lather it up. Next, you'll need to bring a gentle microfiber wash mitt and just go over the parts of your car that still contain muddy grimes until they're all wiped away. Finally, rinse your car thoroughly. Now the finishing touch in the vacuum area, bring 2 good microfiber drying towers and use them to wipe off excess water. Use a vacuum cleaner to obviously clean your interior. And the final result is a shiny washed car as I drive off happy. read more

I've been coming here for decades for car washes. Often times I will use the self wash prior to the automated was... when I know it won't be raining in a day or so or if my car is a dirty hot mess. I spray the wheel wells as no automatic wash gets the wheel wells but I do! A couple months ago I signed up for the monthly unlimited washes and seriously, I LOVE IT! Especially during the winter when some weeks I've gone in every other day! Because I now have the unlimited washes, I've tried both the Issaquah and Samamish and out of the 3, the Redmond location cleans my medium size SUV great. I have Never seen any scratches from this wash... knowing full well that it could happen with any automatic wash. Maybe some swirling but that happens with any automatic wash... I just get it waxed and it disappears! The workers at the wash have always been super friendly, in fact recently I noticed when they are super busy, they have had attendants directing the flow thru the gas pumps to accommodate the folks looking for a wash. Just took my Range Rover in this morning. It has been professionally detailed lately. No marks, scratches ect... Went through this morning choosing the Berry Best option. When I got home to clean the wheels a bit more I notice streaks of scratches in the front and on the sides. Very harsh washing place.. I had major waxing on there and it still created major scrapes and scratches. I would not go there is you value your paint and or vehicle. Cost me $16 now it will cost me 75 to have buffed out if they are not too deep. Car owners beware! read more

I don't write a lot of reviews, but Jennifer at the Avondale Brown Bear certainly deserves special recognition. I noticed a charge on my cc statement and called to correct it and get a credit/refund. I have the monthly service and never upgrade from the basic car wash. She said that it would be best to email the corporate office explaining the situation, as the office there was closed until Monday. I am an older person, and not very proficient with computers. She offered to do it for me, which she did. She also researched the situation and called me back, explaining to me what went wrong (not completely happy, but satisfied that I received the service (wax) that was billed for). She then emailed corporate back with an update on how the situation was resolved to my satisfaction (very thorough). She was very caring and went out of her way to be of help. Good customer service is almost non-existent today...she gave GREAT service. Brown Bear is fortunate to have her as a representative of the company. read more

Took our brand new (3 weeks old) Yukon through for its first wash EVER and came out with scratches all over the hood. The site manager and area manager came up with every excuse in the book to deny what was clearly Brown Bears fault. I bought a new car recently and find myself at the brown bear more often than in the past. I use the self-service car wash, which costs me a total of (couting leftover quarters in pocket...) (oh dang, doing the subtraction...) $3.25. Just $3.25 for an awesome car wash. It's a typical self-service car wash - no surprises. They have the sprayer with several modes, like warm high-pressure soap, high-pressure rinse, some kind of protective clear-coat, etc. You pay by quarters, each buys you half a minute of sprayer time. I've seen self-service brown bears where there's a minimum of $2.00 (or something) at a time, which I find totally bogus. The Redmond location does not have this problem. In addition to the sprayer, there's a big broom-like brush, which is free to use of course, but I always bring a bucket, sponge, and "absorber" towel. I find this saves me money and also stress - I can take my time. I never trust the broom-brush to be totally clean, either. They also have the vacuums nearby as you would expect. I haven't used them at the Redmond location but I remember being disappointed at the brown bear in Seattle on NE 125th Street. They're not the space-age super vacuums I remember from childhood. The brown bear is cheap and convenient - everything you could ask for in a self-service car wash. I will mention only one negative: the sprayer is annoying in that it takes a good 10 seconds for it to change modes after you move the dial. I noticed it more this time, when I moved directly between wash and rinse. Last time I turned the dial to "off" between each use and didn't notice this problem as much. Took my car there over the weekend cuz I wanted to use the voucher from the dealership. I had never been to this location before and it was SO busy, I missed the entrance to the automatic wash. Oops. Had to go around the whole block again--thank you GPS. When I lined up I was near the entrance/exit near the 202 side and I thought for sure it would be a 20 minute wait. Well, it was a well oiled machine I tell ya. There were two attendants working as a team. One would walk up to take your order and money while the other directed with colored "forward" and "stop" signs. They always made sure the first three or so cars were paid and ready to go so there was no lull in the queue. I was very impressed. I also loved that they provided towels for free, though they give off a lot of lint. And I happily vacuumed my car for a whole buck and a half (4 minutes use) so now it looks brand new again.
