I have mixed feelings regarding this salon. I loved the color they did for me. The shellac manicure I received fell off after 24 hours leaving me with 6 good nails on my wedding day.... Which they corrected after my wedding day. Now I'm in a hair cut dilemma which they will be correcting. read more

I had a classic pedicure, which started with a nice long soak with the jets bubbling away. Then Brittany deftly trimmed and filed my nails, worked away some of the yucky callouses, scrubbed away with an exfoliating scrub, massaged in a lovely lotion, and then polished me up! Oh, and did I mention she did all this while maintaining lovely conversation, AND making sure I was quite happy with my mimosa and coffee? Have already pre-booked my next appointment (which gets you a discount) and will be looking forward to it. (Oh...and that missing half star? The pedicure chairs aren't massage chairs. My first visit here was a haircut with Kristy (the salon manager). I went in to see if she could fix my hair (bad previous cut from somewhere else). Kristy said it was over-texturized and that it might take a few cuts before I would like it. But, honestly... I LOVE IT! She knows how to cut curly/wavy hair. I have a lot of fine wavy/curly hair and other stylists usually want to hack away or use thinning shears. When she said she only point cuts the bottom, I knew she was the stylist for me. I'm so happy. My hair is behaving and I don't feel post-haircut neurotic like I have for the past few years. This is a professional hair stylist! Kristy knows what she is doing. I've gotten my hair done here a few times and have never had a good experience. The stylists are friendly enough, but for what they charge, they should be doing a better job. My friend recently got her hair color messed up there and a stylist named Josh re-did it. He's REALLY good, so if you go here to get your hair done, ask for Josh. I brought my daughter here for a manicure and pedicure. She's 10 and has a fear of having her nails clipped, so we usually have to go somewhere to get them done. While the stylist was filing my daughter's nails, I saw my daughter flinch and pull her hand away quickly. The nail tech had cut my daughter's finger with a nail file! My daughter started crying (she's very sensitive to pain), and the nail tech tried to say that the cut was already there. No, it wasn't! So, now, my daughter has a fear of getting her nails done. read more

I wrote a post on July 21, 2020 letting Brown and Deline know that I was very disappointed and they let me down. Its funny my post is gone and No one reached out to me at all. I had a appointment for a long time for to get my hair and make up done for my son's wedding on July 24, 2020. It states right here on the post if you have a appointment a member will be reaching out to you to reschedule. Well I Never got a call at all! I tried to call for 3 days to confirm my appointment for the July 24, and keep getting the same recording that they was closed but will be back in the morning. On my 3rd day of calling my daughter in law told me to check to see if they have a Facebook page and if anything was on it, That's when I found out they was closed and I Never got a call. So I of course had to start calling around to see if anyone could do my hair and makeup for my son's Wedding in 3 days! I have been coming to Brown and Deline for years but as right now I am Very Disappointed as they left me in the dark by not calling me when they decided to close, which they should have. First off I have never been to a salon as great as Brown and Deline. From the moment you walk in the door you are welcomed with smiling faces. I saw the owner Cathy for a haircut and never in my life have I received this many compliments about my hair. Not only did she give me a beautiful haircut, she educated me on products, and helped form a plan to restore my hair to its natural health. I have very thin damaged blonde hair and it's hard to find a stylist that knows how to cut my hair but Cathy knew exactly what to do and I could not be happier. Halina is the best for facials and waxing. I've been seeing her for years. Her knowledge and experience really show in my skin. She uses quality products, Sothys and Glymed. I've learned so much about my skin from her consulting every time I get a facial. I feel like I really get my money's worth, and she is very reasonable. I always get compliments on my eye brows after I've seen Halina for waxing. And, her Brazilian technique is very modest and comfortable. You get to keep your underwear on! read more

The best place to get your hair done in Ann Arbor. After having a major hair dilemma, I got a referral here by someone I saw on the street. She had the most amazing hair color I had ever seen! I went in to see Jayme Wagner blind, and this was scary for me. But omg did she deliver! I have never been so happy with my color. Ever! I had my first appointment with Lili yesterday and she was absolutely wonderful. I'm typically apprehensive about trying new salons because I have thick Japanese hair and it can be difficult to find a stylist who is familiar with making thick hair look soft rather than too choppy. Lili listened to what I want to do with my hair, gave suggestions on how I could get there, gave me a beautiful cut and thinned my hair in such a way that it looks sleek, fresh and natural. She is very friendly and talented. I'm definitely going back. They also have a great referral program -- if you refer a friend to your stylist, you get your next hair cut for free. read more

Stacey did a great haircut, fixing the mess made by the last so called stylist I went to. And my pedicure was perfectly fine. Carrie, I think, did a good express manicure. The salon is very outdated and I probably would not have picked it except for my friend recommended Josh and he is exceptional! Besides needing to update their look, the salon is fine. If you want a high end experience you might not find it here. I have found the receptionists very friendly and accommodating. If you need color done, Josh is the guy to see. He knows his Color and he can fix anything that someone else screws up. He also will do exactly what you want with the cut and style but will give suggestions if you ask. read more

Halina is wonderful. She does the most amazing lashes, brows, and facials. I've literally tried dozens of facialists all over the world (London, New York, Chicago, Beijing, Paris etc., etc.), and she is the best. I live in Chicago now, but visit in Ann Arbor, because she is worth the 4 hour drive. She is the only person who can make my skin not break out. She is literally the only reason I miss Ann Arbor even after four years of undergrad there. Not only is she great at facials, but she's also incredibly nice and interesting. I finally found a salon I LOVE and feel comfortable in. I was SUPER anxious and nervous about going to get my hair cut because I always feel like "salon girls" are snotty, have attitudes, and talk about their customers. This is SO not this salon. I left Francoys after a series of unfortunate events and will never go back after going to Brown and Deline. They really know how to treat you there! Kate greeted me and was so sweet. She showed me all over the salon and offered me an array of beverages. Later I saw a kid with pink lemonade (she mentioned grown up drinks like coffee, wine, beer (yes, BEER), water, etc but I am such a kid and lemonade sounded perfect that day)--so my stylist got it for me :D! It was SOOO good! My stylist was Paige and she was wonderful. She and I carried on a light conversation and she was very very knowledgeable about hair. She didn't force me to buy any hair products (at Francoy I literally felt bullied to buy things at the end of my appointment), but did make recommendations which was good enough for me. She also showed me how to style my hair in a super easy way which I have been able to replicate at home. Never have I been able to do this before!!!! I loved my haircut and color and I even got a bag of awesome coupons to use for being a first time client. I loved my first visit and am so glad I now have a regular salon I can go to...and not feel anxious. The girls that work there are so welcoming and very kind. I really like Brown & DeLine the most of all the Ann Arbor salons I have tried. It looks small from the outside but it is spacious, clean, and up to date inside. They really do have great service! I am always greeted when I go in, and when I call to ask questions they are polite and helpful over the phone. One weird thing I really appreciate about this salon much more than others is the lighting and openness of the building. Many salons have poor lighting, which always frustrates me! If I'm going to look at myself in a mirror for an hour, I want to look good! Brown & DeLine also has a huge selection of products, and they seem to have experience with them all so they can recommend something for your hair type exactly. My haircuts have always been by Danielle, who is fun and seems to genuinely love what she does! She is great because I often like to let stylists do what they think looks good when I have trouble deciding how I want my hair cut. I like shorter hair, so it is difficult for me to trust stylists, but Danielle has never cut off too much or made uneven sides (which is often a problem for me with bob style cuts). I really have loved all my haircuts here. It is just a comfortable and well kept salon. It's not overwhelmingly modern, and it's not at all out of date. It's perfect! I plan on staying with this salon and stylist for the rest of my time in Ann Arbor, they have never given me a reason to try another salon! Can't wait to try out all the other services, especially coloring, that they have to offer! read more

I had my whole bridal party and Mom get our hair and make up done at Brown and DeLine before my wedding. They were so accommodating to our group of 7. Having everyone get hair and makeup done at the same time made our morning so much more relaxed. We all looked fantastic. If you want a great men's haircut (best haircut in my personal experience) come here and ask for Joshua!! It was $29 about $9 more than I normally spend but it was well worth it and I'm happy to say I found my new hair stylist!!! When I walked in to the salon it was very busy and to my satisfaction I was offered a beverage until my appointment was ready. Most times waiting for a haircut is very dull but having a beer while I waited made it worth it. To say the least the service was great. VERY PROFESSIONAL!!! Shortly after I finished my beer, Joshua greeted me and took me to the chair where he asked what I would liked to have done. After discussing different hair styles with him I decided to let him do whatever to it because he seemed confident on how to make it look good. He cut the sides short and left the top longer so it can be styled. This is the usual route I go when I get a hair cut but I was pleased he knew exactly what he was doing with my hair (which can be very stubborn since it is very thick tends to stick out). Where as other hair stylist seem to get a confused look while they cut, Josh didn't hesitate with the scissors which calmed my nervousness. After the cut he washed my hair, massaged my scalp, took me back to the chair and began discussing various ways to style my new hair and applied products he recommended. When everything was finished (no rushing) he walked me back to the front of the salon and asked me about the service and after I told him this was the BEST HAIRCUT I have ever received he told me that the next appointment was 10% off, so I gladly booked it. :) read more

Brown & Deline has terrible customer service. They are not accommodating at all and though they claim to be family-friendly, they are not considerate or helpful when you have kids. They claim to be 'all about you' when in fact they are all about making money and not 'all about' their clients. Our family has had two bad experiences there - one for a bad haircut and another for mismanagement of their schedule. Furthermore, they are overpriced for the service received. We will not return again and look forward to providing another establishment in Ann Arbor with our family's business. read more

Brown & DeLine is my favorite salon I've ever gone to, thanks in large part to my stylist - Danielle Rodgers. I first went to Danielle for a last-minute manicure and bangs trim before a wedding in fall 2013, shortly after I moved to Ann Arbor from NYC. I never looked back! I just moved out of Michigan and Danielle is one of the hardest people to leave. She took SUCH good care of my hair. She's an incredibly talented stylist, colorist, everything. I had never colored my hair before she suggested a little balayage to lighten things up (I have blond hair that gets darker in the winter and lighter in summer). I trusted her fully, so I was like, "Eh, why not?" Since that day she gave me beautiful highlights a few times a year, in addition to the gorgeously layered cut she created for me. I have long, thick, straight hair with very little texture, and she gave it this beautiful movement without looking choppy or requiring any styling effort on my part! If you want a stylist who is always learning new techniques, always improving and always approaching your hair with thoughtfulness and care, Danielle is your woman. Brown & DeLine itself is an excellent salon, with first-rate customer service and a clean, chic, comfortable space. I miss it already! read more

However they didn't tell me when I made the appt that the prices would all be different based on the level of the technician. My boyfriend and I have both been here for haircuts and were very happy with them. What I want to rave about, though, are the pedicures with Alicia! She is so sweet, obviously takes great pride in her work, and will spend the time to really make your feet feel a world of difference. I took my children here for a haircuts by 3 different stylists and had the worst cuts ever done on two of them. 2 out of the 3 will need to be completely redone. My son's hair looks like he has rabbit ear muffs. My daughter had long straight hair that went past the middle of her back. Now she has jagged ends. It looks like someone just grabbed a pint of hair and cut randomly. I have never seen layers like that before. The third stylist did the best job. The layers were blended (unlike her sisters), but she didn't stay consistent around her head, so they are uneven. When I checked out to pay, they charged more than what was told to me on the phone when I made the appt. I tried telling the front desk person this and got deer in headlights. The girl next to her says, I think he got a promotion recently and I responded that I made the appt the day before. This salon needs Tabatha in a big way! I had asked if they would get a better cut than Borics since they were charging $16 for a child's haircut and was told absolutely. Sorry to say that the people coming out of Borics look much better. read more

I've been getting my hair cut at Brown and Deline for 6+ years and I've ALWAYS been happy about the service. They are always courteous an polite and I can usually get an appt. pretty quickly. I love their hours and they have some great sales throughout the year. Depending on who you have haircuts can run like 25-45+ but I think that's pretty average for a good salon. I would recommend this place to anyone. I love it's location as I'm outside of Ann Arbor to the west so it's convenient to me. read more

Received a gift certificate for my birthday for a manicure and pedicure with Sadie that I used at the beginning of May ahead of a two week vacation. Getting it done was wonderful... relaxing (aside from Sadie being a lovely person the staff was most cordial and accommodating), pleasurable and just what I needed at that time. But, also, the results were lovely and my pedi is still going strong after 3 weeks and my mani lasted the full time of our 2 week vacation!
