More than two weeks before the appointment, the owner texted me asking me to put down a $75 deposit "since it is such a long appointment and when cancelled even 48 hours before it is hard to fill the entire slot." The booking website says all microblading appointments have a 7-day cancellation policy, so I was confused why she was even talking about 48-hour cancellation, but I put down the deposit anyway. I then planned my travels around this appointment, including booking a more expensive flight from New York so I could fly back to Seattle before Christmas to make it here. Come the day of, 1.5 hours before the appointment, the owner texted me that she would be 30 minutes late. Not a problem. But 45 minutes later, 45 minutes before the actual appointment, I got another text saying "Actually" she could no longer make it because she had Christmas shopping to complete. Sadly when both of her texts came in I was already on my way. It was raining hard and I was driving, and I didn't see them until after I arrived. I called her and got to vm. I then texted and said I would wait until 30 minutes past my appointment time. I never got a response and she never showed up. Christmas is not just her holiday, and time is not just her time. If Christmas Eve was a bad day, do not make it available and confirm the appointment weeks in advance. She and I both work in client-facing jobs. If I set a meeting with a client and try to reschedule on short notice but don't hear back, I show up. Her behavior is particularly uncalled for when she charged me a deposit so I would be respectful of her time. The respect was apparently not mutual. I asked her for a refund of my deposit. She ghosted me, and I had to contact my credit card company to dispute the charge. I have not heard a single word from her since the "Actually can't make" text. Unless this sounds like something you want to deal with, take your business elsewhere.

After checking in, they have a nice waiting room although you don't normally have to wait long. Once you're in, they take you to one of the rooms so you have privacy for your appointment. I felt really comfortable during my appointment. I did my chin and upper lip and it took maybe 15 minutes? Melissa G was my aesthetician and the appointment started off great, although she didn't ask me how I like my brows done before starting, which is unusual. However, after 45 minutes or so I noticed she wasn't changing her gloves and they were getting really sticky with wax residue, so every time she'd touch me I'd get stickier too - the paper cover on the table underneath me was starting to come off stuck to me in shreds. After she adjusted the position of the wax table, including unplugging and replugging the wax warmer cord with her gloves still on, I politely asked her if she could change her gloves before continuing, and she said sure, she would if she *had* some (?!?!). Guess what, friends - there was only one more glove in the whole store in her size, and all the others were much much too small to fit her. I'm not sure how gloves don't get routinely restocked in a waxing salon, and I'm not sure how Melissa thought it would be ok to perform a nearly full-body wax appointment with one and a half pairs of gloves, when typically in my experience gloves get changed pretty often during a wax -- if she had welcomed me to my appointment and said, I'm so sorry, I realized I'm out of gloves, do you mind waiting 10 minutes while I run to the Bartell's LESS THAN TWO BLOCKS AWAY and grab a box, I would have been happy to wait AND would have been grateful for the emphasis on hygiene practices. I don't even want to think about the germs that got cross-contaminated onto my raw exfoliated skin from that one pair of gloves touching everything in the room. Never again will I book here.
