I had a poor cut and color job, which was exacerbated by going to a curly cut specialist (for hair cut) who did a good cut on its own but took out all the length from a year and half of growth and made the haircut round and full vs. what I had asked for. When I met Jennifer, she was sympathetic and aligned on all points. She pointed out that the color job was really bad and the cut while good didn't work on my face. She took a very proactive approach to suggest the right color I should use and did a great color job and proper styling that time. I was quite happy to find someone who understood what I needed and was proactive so I don't have to do all the thinking and also worry. We agreed to try and grow the hair out again over several months and eventually get to v-shaped long layers that I wanted. It all went downhill after this. I saw Jennifer again late Mar 2026, trim only, no color. She didn't ask anything, just started cuttting, was silent throughout and I sat uncomfortablly. Just to make conversation, I asked if she liked cutting curly/wavy hair or more straight. She said, I like to do color, and that was the end of conversation. She dried the hair just a little and told me rest would air dry. I told myself, maybe it was just an off day and not to think much of it. I saw her again in early July 2026 (this reviw stems from this experience). My hair had grown and needed proper shaping, no color. She perked up at the appointment as I mentioned that next appointment we will do color and hope by that time we have enough length to do proper v-shape. The conversation was normal but work itself was shabby, she did a bit of trimming in back but nothing in the front. I had to ask her to do front layers and she did some but I could sense it was going wrong. She used the hair drier just to show to dry it pointing down and that was it. I went home uncomfortable with quite wet hair. The price of each service I booked cut includes full haircut and proper styling. And twice now, I had left for home with barely done hair. I did book the Oct hair cut and color appointment but I was feeling off so I called from the car and asked her if she had taken bulk from the back (heavy hair in back), she said she hadn't. I asked her if we could do that and she said okay, you can come on x date, y time. I reached home and saw my hair had dried really untidy. So I took a picture and next morning I took more pictures and sent a polite email to explain what I was talking about and what needed fixing (choppy layer). I received no acknowledgement or response. So I was even more uncomfortable and didn't go to the follow-up. I called a few times to cancel the Oct appointment but no one picked up and I left a VM. Later, I was able to cancel online. Next day, I received a message from owner Mandy that they received complaint and they take it seriously etc. I asked her if we could talk and she said she was on a plane flying out of country and will have her customer service call me. When I received the call, I explained the situation all over and instead of offering a solution, the person said, well looks like we can't do anything, I was really irritated and asked her why she had called in the first place and did she have authority to close this matter? Within 10 minutes, I received another email from the owner that they had "carefully asessed" the situation and there was nothing they could do. I was really frustrated by then and questioned if she was really in a flight as how she had talked to everyone and carefully assessed in 10 mins, and she said she was emailing from the plane. Anyway, when she said we have offered all solutions and they can't do anything, I told her she had offered nothing. She then emailed they will refund 'service cost'. They refunded the haircut cost but kept the tip. I looked up receipts and realized they had a service fee as well as they had added extra 5% to fixed tip amount. I looked up online to find the law and internet search suggested this was illegal and to complain to WA State Attorney General office to confirm. The state office sent a note to the salon and they responded that I never requested refund of tip cost (I had not asked for any cost refund myself and when they offered, I assumed it will be full. They kept the tip despite shitty service. WHY?) and that they display the added 5% on the tip screen (I have never seen anyone charge on top of tip so had not paid attention). I have atached the tip screen in the images attached to the review so future customers can pay attention and choose to pay or not. This is a long review but the essence is poor service (if a stylist doesn't want to do hair cut or serve a particular customer, they shouldn't) , dishonest behavior and bad attitude from owner, and sketchy practices like adding extra charges on fixed tip money.
