Cable snapped on my garage door late last night. Close Bros had a tech at my house before 10AM this morning. He repaired the cable, adjusted both doors (I didn't ask) and did so professionally and with extreme care. He also charged me way less than I anticipated. If you ever need your garage door worked on, look no further than these guys are great. read more

Great experience. Eric was communicative, easy to work with and everything went very well. Neither he or his colleague Mike tried to upsell me on anything, gave me recommendations of what I could do myself for the least cost to make my doors smart. Installation was great and the doors are beautiful and openers (existing) are much quieter. They also beat the price of other quotes by a significant amount. Highly recommend. read more

Brothers Overhead Doors Services - New garage doors - Garage Door Services Near Me - West Orange, New Jersey

Having used Close Brothers in the past when I've had issues with my garage door, I called them again when a new issue arose. The customer service rep was friendly and told me she could have someone come out that day. She later called back to say that someone would be coming out tomorrow instead. When "someone" arrived the following day, I was shocked that he was not an employee of Close Brothers, but actually a guy who owns a garage door repair business about an hour from here in NY who they had outsourced the job to. This repairman charged his own prices, (which I still don't know how honest they were) and when it came time to pay, the money went straight to his own NY based company. If I wanted to hire someone other than Close Brothers to do the job, I would have hired someone other than Close Brothers! I have now attempted to call Close Brothers five times to express my disappointment that they weren't the ones who actually repaired my garage doors and each time it is the strangest interaction. When I say that I specifically want to speak to the owner or manager of Close Brothers, the first two times they connected me to the repairman who came to my house. The next three times they tell me "Ok, we will let him know. Stay by your phone and expect a call within 10 minutes". No matter how many times I've followed up, I have still never received a call. Based on the experience with the repairmen and the strange calls, I don't actually think Close Brothers exists anymore. My best guess is that someone bought the rights to the name or perhaps it is being used as a shell company? But either way, I just wanted to make others aware that this doesn't seem to be the same company of the past. read more

I was unknowingly pawned off to a subcontractor who was unprofessional and improperly installed our openers. We are now having to have another company fix the issues at an additional expense. Brothers overhead seems to be no more than a broker that simply sub contracts to others. When I tried to contact them I could not speak to a manager or owner and was then directed back to the subcontractor repeately. I am left with no other resolution than to write this so that others do not suffer the same frustraton and losses. read more

It is a gem to find honest, reliable and trustworthy service companies these days. Close brothers not only came, inspected, and repaired our doors; they did it efficiently and at a competitive cost. And they're local! If you're looking for your garage door repair, look no further. read more

Great service. Reliable. Had a problem was not home when they did the work. They called to keep me informed as the work was done. Can't recommend this company enough. read more

I had a frustrating experience with Close Brother Overhead. I have two garage doors; one worked well, while the other had issues opening and closing properly. Eric and his assistant came to fix the problematic opener. Initially, they suggested that a single screw would solve the problem. However, after putting in the screw, the opener stopped working altogether. They then recommended replacing the entire opener, which I agreed to. For the other door, which was functioning fine, they offered a remote control because there was a remote control sensor on the ceiling, and I went along with it--only to later find out from my neighbor that having a garage door without a safety sensor should not include a remote for safety reasons. Eric also suggested changing the belt, noticing some wear. I agreed, and they replaced it and lubricated everything before leaving. However, shortly after they left, the door opened by itself, and the opener malfunctioned, producing smoke and damaging the new belt! I had to unplug it to stop the crazy working opener. When I called Eric back, they returned and claimed the opener was old (from the 60s or 70s) and at the end of its life. This was surprising since it had been working fine for the past 10 years since I bought the house. My neighbor has a similar opener from the same era that still works without issues. Now I'm starting to doubt if the other opener they replaced needed to be replaced at all, as it's only 20 years old. I can't shake the feeling that Eric is playing tricks to earn more money. He kept asking me if I planned to rent out the house, which seemed irrelevant to his work--was he going to charge more because it's a rental? I got his information from a neighbor chat group that had good comments about him, but I'll be more cautious moving forward. He better watch out; I have access to thousands of residents in the Millburn/Short Hills area, we use chat app to share good or bad contractors - I've lived in the area for 10 years. Overall, I wouldn't recommend their services based on my experience. read more

Close brothers are the absolute best. The spring on my garage door broke during the Christmas season and close doors didn't hesitate to come right after Christmas. The price was fantastic especially since I just finished spending money during the holiday. I was informed that my garage opener was very old and needed to be replaced soon. I waited a few years and when I called them to come and replace it, not only did he fit me into his schedule but gave me his recommendation on what else I needed to do for my garage. He changed the garage door opener and keypad. He also changed my used rollers at no extra charge. Again the price was great and he allowed me to pay him a few days later. I truly hope they never go out of business and are available when I'm ready to change my door. I highly recommend them for all your garage door needs. read more

Very Rude and disrespectful. I asked a simple question and was told to look in the instruction manual, like I was bothering them while I pay the service call. That's ok Close brothers you forced me to find a reputable company and Skillman fits the bill. read more

Very rude! Very unprofessional! Simple questions were being asked and they responded with hostility. Would not recommend since I received horrible service. 0/100! read more

What a pleasure, great service and installation of our new doors. This is the way its should go when dealing with a contractor.

So happy we found him! We bought a new house and our truck couldn't fit in the garage -the door was hanging down too low by an inch when opened. He gave us an estimate to raise the door, and came back and got it done timely. read more

Eric and his crew represent old-fashioned courteous, professional and timely service if you need any type of garage door repair. They respond to messages, try to show up quickly, and have all the experience to diagnosis and fix any problem relating to garage doors. They are on my short list of companies that still believe in good service and fair prices as a way to develop loyal customers and build a business. read more

Installed my garage door quickly. When a question came up they advised me over the phone rather than coming and charging for a service call.

From go these guys were a class act. They answered the phone in a welcoming & engaging manner (unlike their competitors). Eric had said he could make it out in a couple days but I was going out of town. He didn't have to, but I could tell he squeezed me in. He & Mike turned our janky, jammed and warped garage door into a smooth operator. Even the garage door light - which has never worked in the 8 years we have lived here - now turns on. And all for a reasonable price. Thank you again Close Bros. read more

Our garage door came off it's rail taking out a piece of the door this morning. We had always used Precision and found them expensive. After reading reviews, I decided to try Close Brothers. They were here on a Saturday within one hour of my call, took about an hour to fix, and was probably the most reasonable price for a garage door service we have ever had. Karl was super nice and went above and beyond even fixing some of the vinyl sealing that had gotten ripped off as the door broke. SO impressed and would HIGHLY recommend! read more

Can't speak highly enough of the super helpful and friendly service I received. Eric returned my call promptly and was able to quickly diagnose the issue and provide a solution. read more

Garage door spring snapped (from normal wear & tear) and I texted Eric because I've used him in the past. Was here in less than 24 hours to replace it and checked and lubricated all hinges and belts as well. 30 minutes in and out. A pleasure to deal with once again! read more

They do a great job at a great price. They came in a timely manner wearing their masks.

Called based on recommendation in secret Montclair & they were in neighborhood and came right over. They quickly fixed my problem, noticed something that was going to be problem in future for a very reasonable price. Highly recommend. read more

Excellent service and great pricing. I'd strongly recommend Eric and Close Brothers. They showed up on time and fixed two garage doors for less than half the price that Precision quoted me for one. read more

If I could start by giving these brothers 0 stars I would. If only Karls work was as good as his arrogance. My garage door parts and motor were replaced by Karl on 4/25/2021 and I was billed and paid for these services. However Karl only replace 1 spring/ 1 cable. So that they were different sizes and made my garage door unleveled. 435 day later I have a broken spring. and a new appointment NOT with Karl to replace Both springs. I guess Karl does it right because he has to do it twice. read more

Just replaced two garage doors. Carl Close was great to deal with. Process from estimate to installation was very smooth. Doors look beautiful and pricing was excellent. Would not hesitate to recommend Close Bros. read more

They were punctual, personable, reasonable, efficient and neat. You were charged what you were quoted. The work done was exactly what you were told. There is no mess. The old garage was broken down and neatly stacked for disposal. The new door looks and works great. I would recommend them 100 times out of a 100. read more

I can't say enough good about how pleased I was with the installation of my new garage door opener and key pad by Carl and Mark of Close Brothers. Carl was extremely knowledgeable about my existing Powerlift opener and made great suggestions on how I could fix it. I opted to replace it because it was too outdated from 1998. Carl delivered 5 Star service across the board. Showed up on time, very clean and neat, reviewed all the details and settings on my new garage door opener (how to reset it, etc. Also his price was EXCELLENT! I will gladly recommend him to friends and family in the future. read more

We didn't know that the spring cables of our garage broke, so for a while the garage was opening and closing on just the motor... so the garage door broke into 2 separate pieces. Close Brothers were the second company we consulted after the first said that we probably need to replace the door and whole entire system. They came in and took one look at our garage and said ok we can fix it... it took them an hour and we didn't need to buy a new garage door!!! They were very efficient and knowledgeable!! read more

Just had a repair and tune-up performed on 20 year old garage doors. I had called because one door did not seem to work at all. When they arrived promptly for the service-call the door worked! Rather than say, "Looks like everything's fine!" they took apart every component to see if something intermittent was causing the failure. EVERY component was inspected, adjusted, lubricated and aligned. When you imagine what a "perfect" service call would be, THIS call is what you can only hope for. I recommend them without reservation for fair price and superlative craftsmanship. read more

I was really impressed by the company. They were quick and courteous. Fixed the spring temporarily until a part could come in and came back as soon as the part came in. They did not charge a crazy amount for the the emergency and for two house calls. I wound up getting all three doors serviced (which he never asked if I needed). He wasn't pushy about anything being done. I liked everything about the company. Really nice. I would definitely used them again. read more

Incredible service! And it was significantly cheaper than what Sears or precision were asking... I knew to trust this guy because before he came, I described the problem and he told me what I can do to fix it myself.... That didn't work, so he came out and did the job in less than an hour for a fair price. Deserves 5 stars and comes highly recommended... read more

When it comes to service and old fashioned courtesy , the close brothers really know how to treat their customers. They are professional and work around your schedule and also make sure you are satisfied with their work before they leave , unlike most companies. I have used them from my first garage door to the present day. If I have a question they normally walk me through it on the phone instead of charging me every time I need a slight adjustment. If they ever service your door and something malfunctions to where I need them to visit , they do not charge me for the service. They are an honest company and its something that you just don't see very often anymore , I have never been more satisfied with service in my life read more

You don't get more professional than the Close Brothers. A large spring on my garage door broke, trapping my car inside. The 400 lb door was way too heavy to lift. Karl came by and an hour a few hundred bones later and the door is good as new. Thanks Karl and bro! read more

I had my garage door repaired a few months ago and serviced at the same time by another local company. After a few months the door began having problems closing. After several attempts to contact them I called Close Brothers. They answered the phone and came out the next day, even rearranging their day to accommodate my schedule. They quickly assessed the problem and made the repair. The cost was minimal and both Eric and Mike were personable and professional. I highly recommend this company. read more

I needed a garage keypad and the visit was scheduled the same day. Used Close Brothers for a garage door repair. They came out on Labor Day and not only repaired the one garage door that was broken. but checked and adjusted my other garage doors as well. Additionally instead of selling me another remote opener as I requested, Karl showed me how to program my cars to open the garages instead. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend them. read more
