Right on the corner, easy in and out. Covered pumps. Smallish convenience store, but well stocked. They have air. I didn't try the food, but there were lots of happy people with food. They have a good business, so they are doing it right. read more

This is the cheapest gas (name brand) that I've found in Algiers. It's my go to spot when I need to gas up for the week (it's cheaper than Uptown). However, I have found cheaper name brand gas in Gretna and Harvey but that's out of my way! It's well lit, even at night. It can be crowded but I've never had to wait long (usually I'm there Sunday afternoon/evening). Plus there is a Brother's chicken that smells so darned good that it makes me want to get some (can we say meat pies chicken). It's right off General DeGaulle which is convenient. There is also a laundrymat and a beauty store in this strip mall which makes parking pretty tight. read more

This is a convenience store and gas station with a limited take-out menu. Food: You'd better like fried foods if you're buying from the counter, because that's about all there is available, although the fried chicken is excellent and highly suggested. Not spicy, but it does have a good batter crust, and is tasty. There are also fries and jalapeno poppers, along with a few other items. The meat pies are good as well. (3 stars: very limited menu that is all fried. Get the fried chicken or a meat pie if you go) Service: You go to the counter to order and pick up your food. Employees are nice enough, but can tend to get overwhelmed during the lunch rush. Some workers cannot speak English well, so being bilingual in Spanish helps. Separate pay at cashier station. (2 stars, for reasons noted above) Facilities: What you would expect from a convenience store--slightly garish but functional. There always appears to be someone cleaning either inside or out, and the place is quite tidy. (3 stars. Nothing to write home about, either good or bad.) Overall: 3 stars. Not my go to place, however, I do love those fat juicy fries when they are properly cooked. I have yet to go into a Brothers chain and get any type of customer service. Maybe the chain should invest in a communications program. And a cooking manual for when and how much food to drop. Because those 5 hour old greasy options are not ideal. If you start a control sheet you might not loose as much fries or turnaround customers. The location downtown is always on point. My fat girl tongue will never be satisfied with mediocre options. read more

This place is 2/3rds more Ghetto than I prefer. But unlike the Whitney Food store, the crowds of people loitering outside while getting drunk is limited. The gas is usually about 10c a gallon more expensive than Terrytown but it's close to the house. This also has the distinction of being the first gas station chicken I ever fobbed off on the girly... and she liked it. For gas station chicken, you can do a lot worse than brothers. I know it's scary, but it's true. And if, like this one, they have the jalapeno poppers, they aren't half bad, either. SOmetimes hard to get in and out of, it's worse right now because of a tremendous amount of road work being done in the area. read more

Brothers is sketchy but a great convenient store. The food selection is pretty "greasy spoon" but the food is awesome regardless. I went here with low expectations and that's pretty much What I got. Kind of sketch-ville. Of course I was passing through Algiers when my "low fuel" light came on. Naturally, I started freaking out (inside) and hit up my smart phone to find the nearest gas station and this is where it lead me. There were random men just lurking outside with no real purpose. There were people giving me weird looks as I was filling up. Yep, this gas station had it all! With that said, the gas wasn't too pricey at $2.05/gallon. I wouldn't seek this place out, but it got the job done so mission accomplished. read more

Brothers has a sketchy reputation but they definitely exceeded expectations on this visit. I stopped by for a meat pie and apple juice. When I entered the store, there was a line of 8 people but they quickly assisted everyone and I was in line less than a minute. The food was fresh, my drink was cold, and I left a happy customer. read more

I absolutely hate this place and the nonchalant attitudes. The lack of care or empathy for anybody or anything that does not directly affect them! I said I was going to stop going after the incident with my debit card "declining" but still showed up as not 1 but 2 charges on my bank account a few months back. But because of the convenience of location and where I live, I went back after not going for a while. Like a dummy tonight took the cake! I purchased $15 worth of gas and some other items and when I was done, granted I did leave without pumping. I did forget that fast. But I turned around not even 1 minute later, because I literally stay right around the corner from the store, after realizing I didn't pump the gas. Get back and see that someone stole my gas that fast. I brought it to the owners attention and he shrugged his shrugged his shoulders and told me "oh well!" It's nothing he could do. I asked if they could run the cameras back to see who it was and he said they don't have cameras. Which I'm sure is a lie what corner store, especially where this store is located, doesn't have cameras?! Yes, it was irresponsible on my part to leave without pumping. I take my charge. No, it's not there fault some theiving ass people took it upon themselves to steal from me. BUT, the customer service, lack of care and not giving a _______ is what makes the situation worse. I wasn't asking for my money back but damn, act like you care when it's pwople who come in damn near everyday and spend money with you! I'm tired and this was my last time ever going here and I may be one person but I have friends who're sick of it too. And they will not be returning to this store either. Any Brothers store For that fact! And if the people who took my gas happen to see this. God bless you, I guess you were really in need! Everything happens for a reason and it's ok.
