Customer service is an issue. A 25 year relationship ended today. A good business model may NOT be to have 3-4 associates watch the customers check their $300 basket of groceries at 11 am on a Saturday. read more

Brookshire's is a store that sells everything but there prices remind me of Albertson's when I lived in Florida. The employees were friendly and helpful at this location and I appreciate that. read more

The Brookshires in Forney, TX is absolutely ridiculous. They had a grand reopening and had conflicting dates on their social media page. When I arrived at the store, me and several other customers were told, "Oh we ran out of the free items we gave away. We already did this yesterday." All of a sudden someone comes out of nowhere with the free items. The same person who told conflicting information said to come back on Friday at 9am for the next two weeks, and they will have free items again. I wasted my time and went back, and of course no one knew the employee that told us the information and they were claiming they did not have the free items. The promotion was last week. I will NEVER EVER shop at Brookshires again. Clearly they have incompetent people working there, including management, when they don't know what they promoted, what was told to customers in store, who they employ and more. read more

Prices are overrated at this grocery store. Thought this place would be good to get produce and meats because it looks sorta like trader joes or tom thumb...boy was I wrong. Normal groceries we get at Walmart for the cheap prices, however they don't have good produce so we tried here. Been here a handful of times and I'm never satisfied so I think I'm giving up on this place. At best the produce is slightly better than Walmart. Most of it still looks like its about to go bad or doesn't have a wide selection. Just overall not good quality produce. The prices are more expensive so don't get other grocery items here. The staff members are infuriating. We usually use the self check out and more times than not there is something wrong with the machines. When this happens its impossible to flag down an employee to help. You can see multiple employees standing around but they all avoid looking your way and it takes 20 minutes each time for someone to finally come help. Again, this isn't a one time anomaly, this almost always happens. Yesterday I went and every single self check out station went red and none of us could flag down workers. Two workers got off shift and were buying something at self check out and their coworker buddy who was still on the clock was talking to them instead of helping the 4 stations that weren't working! After waiting forever for help the self check out glitched again and what do you know we had to wait another 20 minutes for help. Will definitely be trying to find a new place to shop. read more

DO NOT BUY CAKES FROM THE BAKERY! We purchased a pull apart cupcake cake and it was the worst EVER! The image on the cake was great, the icing was yummy and the cupcakes were dry enough to choke a gallon of milk. These cupcakes were so dry and brittle, that we had to toss them out. I called the Bakery Manager and she said, "oh, we don't bake cakes here, they come in frozen and we just put the icing on them." Well, there's the problem! I thought I was getting fresh cupcakes. I understand that food prices continue to climb, but it is frustrating to know that I'm more for my groceries as cashiers watch me scan and bag my own while they stand around watching. Cashiers stand around in the middle of the day earning their pay and doing nothing. Please stop having customers scan and bag their own groceries when your paying cashiers to handle that job. read more

I've lived in Forney since 1989 and Brookshires has been my hometown grocery store for all those years, going back to the time when it was the Food Fast! The reason, other than being the only grocery store, was the friendly customer service I always received. But then, things change. The last several times I have been a customer, I have personally witnessed the baggers only hanging out at one station either talking or more engrossed in their phone instead of doing their job. Yesterday, it was worse than usual. As I saw three baggers totally ignore the check out station I was at and continue to hang out talking to each other. I bagged my own groceries, put the groceries in my cart and took them to my car without any offer of assistance. As I was walking out, an employee that had decided to return a cart into the store was having trouble with her long braids getting tangled in the cart due to the wind. Two other employees ran out to assist HER, not the customer carrying out my groceries. Training and discipline is in order for Brookshires employees I'm sad to say. I don't mind paying the higher prices Brookshires charges to include customer service and cart take out but, I haven't received that service on my last four trips despite having employees available to provide said service. Management definitely needs to take a more involved roll and enforce quality over quantity of bodies not doing their job. I can get the lack of service at Walmart or Kroger. I expect better from Brookshires. read more

The fruit here is ALWAYS molded. I have told the employees everytime i see it, which is every time I'm in there, and they all seem to shug it off and just leave that molded fruit on the shelf. It's pretty disgusting that they're OK with selling molded fruit to customers. read more

I'm a big fan of Brookshires. You can tell by the faces of Brookshire's employees that they like working there. Their meat and vegetables are much higher quality than Krogers or WM. It's nice to be able to have the butcher make a special cut of something -- or even slice something that was pre-packaged. read more

This Brookshire's is a nice option to have close to me. Although it doesn't have the selection of a Wal-mart or other big box store, and it's prices are a little more since it doesn't have the purchasing power of such stores, it has a lot going for it in terms of convenience and quality. Convenience-wise, I find it very handy to be able to get in and out as quickly as you would expect from a convenience store, if not more so since they are vigilant about not letting you have to wait in line to check-out. It is especially convenience when I have my kids since they are very insistent on walking your cart out and putting your groceries in the car for you. The first time I experienced this I politely declined the first attempt, feeling like such a service was more meant for elderly patrons. As I walked towards the exit, another attendant rushed to help me whom I also declined. Finally, as I had almost made it out, I gave up at a third attempt by yet another attendant and I let them take it for me. When we got to my car, I realized how nice it was to have the groceries put away while I was free to put my child in his car seat. Normally, I can't even do this until I put the cart up since I wouldn't want to leave my child alone at the car. The groceries were quickly put up and the attendant took the cart away. They do this every time I shop there, whether I have my kids or not. It didn't take long to get used to it, but I always appreciate it every time. Finally, the selection at the store is actually quite good. For any type of food you are looking for, they generally have a few upscale options that I wouldn't find in a Walmart. Their bakery is also top-notch. Those Yums cupcakes are better than most standalone cupcake places. read more

We live closer to Wal Mart but buy everything here. Brookshires is more expensive than Wal Mart, but you get what you pay for. The produce is excellent, they have a better selection of products (not to mention the best beer selection in town). Unlike Wal Mart they actually staff the check out lines, and their employees don't seem to hate their job. Great service, great products, and a friendly atmosphere. You should shop here. read more

Absolutely love shopping here. The customer service is the best I have ever received at a grocery store. They load all your groceries into your car for you and are happy to do it. I will continue to do all my shopping here! Thank you Brookshires! read more

I work inside WalMart (third party vendor) but still shop at Brookshires at least a couple times a week. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Some of the prices may be a little higher but some of their sales actually make the prices less expensive than WalMart. They carry out your groceries, they make an effort to make you comfortable, staff is always smiling and customers are also very friendly. Some random customer paid for my groceries once when my card was declined so I did the same for someone when the opportunity presented itself. Overall, the shopping experience is always great! I've only lived in Forney for a year and half but I love the small town feeling of shopping at Brookshires. read more

One of the reviewers here states she used the self checkout even though she had a full basket. I once was going to use the self checkout and I didn't have anywhere near a full basket. I was rudely told that I could not use the self checkout although I was not over the limit of items stated on the sign. The people in this store are rude, incompetent and take their bad moods out on the customers. read more

We shop here a lot. They are more expensive than walmart on most things. However, if you get ad items only, you can find pretty good deals. They have b1g1 for a penny deals frequently and it is closer to my house than walmart (not by much). This means I can go in quickly without hitting a bunch of traffic because walmart is around a busier area. The store is usually pretty clean and is smaller than walmart which makes it a faster trip. Though, I have went in many times to find they were out of stock on the sale items. When we just want a few things that are on sale, we don't mess with the traffic near walmart. We always go to brook shires. The people are pretty friendly and they carry out groceries unlike the bigger stores. read more

I wanted to avoid the millions of people at Walmart since I only needed a few things and a storm was coming so I went to Brookshire's. I really like shopping at this store because it's close, clean, and always in stock of what I need. That being said- I usually go to Walmart because they are just so much cheaper and have such a wide variety of stuff. My experience today has changed my mind on where I will shop for groceries from now on. I used the self-checkout lane even though I had a full basket since I manage a drugstore and understand the whole checkout process and I knew it wouldn't take very much time. The self-checkout attendant was friendly and prompt every time she had to validate me removing a bag from the checkout to place back in my cart. She then directed another employee to bring the items out to my car after I paid. This is what got me- the girl that brought my bags out to my car was so friendly and truly had a positive attitude about helping me even though it had already started storming. I tried to persuade her to let me do it myself since I was only going home and she still had to work in wet clothes but she wouldn't let me. She told me she liked the rain and it would only take half the time to load the car if we both did it. It is so rare to find people that provide excellent customer service these days, and she did it perfectly!! read more
