Now known as Avir at Waco...significantly understaffed, and constant turnover of staff. The…read moremajority of good, qualified, caring nurses and CNAs have left, in large part due to poor management. My experience with them ended in March 2026. Staff is reprimanded for trying to go above and beyond, and also if they report substandard care by other care team members. Night shift is short staffed always, and residents are left for hours without anyone checks to make sure they are safe in beds, dry, etc. Wound care is lacking as a priority. One nurse who saw that a resident was in trouble healthwise and called an ambulance was reprimanded, and their job threatened. Apparently, if a resident isn't occupying a bed, the facility doesn't get paid. There are still a few good staff members who do care and try to make a difference, but the overwhelming inaction, poor care and terrible attitude, makes it very difficult for those who DO care. Find another option for your loved one. This is not the privately owned, well run Royal Manner of a few years ago. Once they sold to Avir, everything was about the bottom line, period.

After I finished and returned the paperwork, another patient came in shortly after and was asked to fill out the same forms but was also offered water or another beverage from the mini fridge, something that was never offered to me. The difference in treatment was noticeable and unprofessional. Additionally, after my MRI was completed, I was given a DVD containing my images. Considering that DVD players are not very common anymore, this already seemed inconvenient. When I got home and attempted to review the files, there were no images in the folder. I called the office to ask about this and was told by the older lady that the DVD was only for my doctor to review. However, I had been told earlier that the images were already being sent to my doctor and that the DVD was a copy for my own records and review. When I explained this, the staff member dismissed my concern and stated that I "wouldn't know what I was looking at anyway." This response was both unprofessional and dismissive. If patients are given copies of their imaging, they should at least be able to access the files. Otherwise, it raises the question of why patients are given copies at all. Overall, the experience left me feeling poorly treated and frustrated with the lack of professionalism and clear communication.
