NO ONE ever wants to be in need of emergency care, but I tell you what, being in the care of the Express Emergency Room makes it all bearable. Seriously, my family comes here for all our emergency needs, from major to sickness to major infections. Here are three main reasons why we only go here for our emergency needs. First, I appreciate how our overall time there is swift and smooth. We can hold our spot online before we get there. Then we arrive to a peaceful waiting room. On average, we are there a little under an hour leaving with a diagnosis and remedy. Second, the best part is the staff tending to your care. They are educated, personal, and thorough. There have been many times where they offer counsel that is current and educates us. One instance was on steroids and how the pills taken at home are better than just a steroid shot. These guys know that they are talking about. Lastly, we are private pay and the charges are clear, reasonable, and upfront. We know exactly how much a general visit will cost, and when further charges are required, we negotiate up front. No second guessing. We have always just paid from our savings, but it does appear they have payment plans. They were actually in the news for forgiving the debts at multiple of their locations. I have used this facility over a period of about 5 yrs and it was great but tonight I took my 92 yr old mother who had fallen and hit her head and was bleeding and needed care and was told she could not be seen because she did not have an ID. She has insurance and good insurance. So we ended up at the E R at Hillcrest and they were great with her. No ID needed. Just patient care. Most 92 yr olds do not have any form of ID. I will not be going back to this location. That is terrible for our elderly. read more

Avoid this place at all costs unless you like being charged an excessive amount of money. Also, get it in writing when they tell you that they accept your insurance. Last year I was in excruciating pain and this was the closest "doc in a box" place to my house. The woman at the desk said the took my insurance and I was taken back. I described all my symptoms I was having and I was immediately given fluids; the pain eventually subsided (thankfully). I was then gaslighted into thinking my pain was just a simple UTI. I tried to stand up for myself and that there was no possible way that it's a UTI but I was sent home with antibiotics and I proceeded to take them just in case; but I knew that was not the culprit. Not even 1 week later, the pain comes back and I proceed to go back to Express ER. I demanded other tests as it obviously was not a UTI. I let them know a second time that gallbladder issues run in my family and that I believe it may be this. Mind you the first time I came to Express ER, I was only given fluids. This second time, they gave me fluids and finally did a cat scan. It showed the gallbladder "sludge" and stones (as I figured) but the doctor again tried to downplay my symptoms and said it's probably just heartburn....really?? After that whole ordeal, I knew I would never come back as I shouldn't have to advocate for myself as much as I did there and still not be believed by the pain level that I had. Only a month or so later I receive a bill that my insurance is NOT actually accepted by Express ER (remember the lady at the front desk told me that it was). And that I owe Express ER & Plains ER Management over $30,000!!!! I wish I was joking.... Reminder: I only had 2 sets of fluids, a pee test for the supposed UTI and a cat scan. I have fought tooth and nail over this bill for the past YEAR and they agreed to bring it down to $2,000 which is a little more reasonable but nevertheless absurd. read more

I agree they are friendly, professional. The place is warm and service was quick. Problem: I came in at 1am after work with high blood pressure. I was there for the next 8 hrs. going through test after scan after test. It's like they were trying to use every piece of equipment they could. I'm not saying my condition wasn't serious but I'm by no means a fragile person. Anyone would say I'm athletic if anything. I have insurance and for the next 6 months they fought out the $8,000 dollar bill. They knew I'm just a second shift maintenance worker not a rich or even middle class wage earner. They could have just monitored me or just been conservative in their treatment. I'm not on any medications. Through eating well, running and cutting the drinks down to two a day I've managed and healthy blood pressure. They finally left me with my portion of the bill for $1,000. Wow, thanks. I know it sounds pathetic but it's going to take me a year to pay that off. I wish they would consider the aftermath for the patient instead of what other test can we possibly fit in here. Wanting a $1,000 an hour for tests and services is over the top. read more

I wish I could give them more than 5 stars it doesn't seem like enough. From the moment we walked we were treated with kindness and respect. The receptionist and nurses were so caring and attentive I could not of ask for better. I have to virtually just about be dead to go to the doctor, due to prior experience with other health care individuals. I had the honor of being Dr. Matt Burge's patient and I have nothing but praise for him and his staff. He diagnosed me quickly and took the necessary steps to set my healing in motion. He explained everything to me and let me know he was there if I had other questions or concerns. I have told everyone I know how wonderful they are and will not hesitate to go back. read more

This place has always been my go to since the first (of a few) of my not so stellar health moments. From the first moments the doors open, through reception, nursing , and Dr work-up to discharge, these folks are strong in all of they're skills and it's very clear they are doing what they are meant to do. I've read the other reviews about cost and insurance red tape which is the norm nowadays unfortunately, but I only have one of me and for all of those who count on me, it's worth every cent. read more

We are visiting Waco from Southern California a very long way from home. Our nine month old daughter got her first fever and first time parents were terrified. This place was absolutely amazing.
