I had a medical emergency that required emergency surgery and I also came in with a noticeable issue and the front clerk LINDA whom could barely even get out of the chair was very slow and didn't even let the back know that I was dealing with a serious isssue. Thank God my mother and cousins took me from that horrible hospital and took me to Baylor! When I arrived they rushed out and I received excellent service. Went in for emergency surgery right away and I am now alive to tell my story! Providence traumatized me and I definitely plan to pursue legal action. My mom was visiting for Christmas and started having flu symptoms. She is 78 with a lot of comorbidities so we're bright her to Providence ED. We were taken to a room within 10 minutes of arrival. The ED physician was waiting on us and after assessing her he made a plan and explained it thoroughly. The nurses, the techs, the physician, were amazing. We've experienced exceptional care since we've been here. If you or your loved one are sick, I highly recommend coming to Providence for your care. read more

Labor & delivery experience: I had my first baby at this location. My experience during my labor and post partum was AMAZING. I can't say that enough! I had a longer stay due to a minor complication during labor, but every nurse i had each day/night were the sweetest most comforting ladies ever. They made me feel as if i was being cared for like i was their family member. i think about them a lot and really am thankful to them for giving me such a positive experience in such a huge moment in my life. I'm sitting here with my husband at the Providence Advanced MRI Center in Waco, Tx. His appointment was scheduled for 3:45 pm. It is now 4:55 pm. He just got called to the back. It's pitiful how long we had to sit and wait before he was called. Their service may great; but they definitely need to work on their time. The emergency room is the worst experience i have ever had. My 90 year old father had been under the weather for about a week. I took him to his primary care physician yesterday they did labs = blood work and urine collection. Received a call from the primary care for results of labs. Was advised to take. Y father to the er to be admitted asap that he was in acute kidney damage. We arrived at Providence around 10:30am. They asked what was we being seen for i advised as the dr had told me. They took vitals and more labs.. we sit in the er for 8 hours straight being told we will be seen soon. We finally get to an er room at 7:30 pm. They insisted on another urine test. I advised them my father has not ate since 9 am and has had nothing to drink since noon. They did get him a glass of water.. still nothing to eat or a plan of action. Waiting to see what the dr says. My father did give a urine sample after drinking some water. So we will see how this ends up But be cautious of the er. read more

I am currently a patient here and am writing this review to keep my mind focused on something good instead of what's going on with me currently lol.. Parking wasn't difficult to find during this stay. The emergency room however was packed. I got here at about 4, got into a room at about 6:30 but wasn't actually seen by a doctor until around 7:30. I can't say when is the best time to come to the ER because 1) It's never a good time to come to the er and 2) no one really plans an emergency lol. The wait time was literally the only thing that bothered me only because of my situation but I have waited longer in other situations. If you come here or to any emergency room, it would be best to prepare yourself to wait a bit. The staff here is wonderful. Every single person that has seen me have been nothing less than amazing! They're very attentive and you can tell they actually care about your well-being. They converse and connect with you. I feel cared for here. I appreciate that. The food is..well, hospital food hah. It's a hit or miss. I recommend their breaded catfish whenever it's available and if you're into hospital food lol I don't want to stay here anymore, I want to be healthy of course but I know I am in good hands with these people. My mother-in-law lives in Hamilton, and due to severe osteoporosis is unable to lay on her back. We needed to find a place that could do complete sedation. I called and spoke with the manager of the MRI department Marcus Gray. I gave him the run down and he went above and beyond to help us out. He got it all coordinated with the anesthesia department, and even got it where she went straight into the vertebroplasty to avoid having to come back for the procedure. Going here brought back memories of the Denver General Hospital ER, back in the early 60's. Long wait. Noisy. And numbingly cold. The people seemed to be caring enough, but efficiency doesn't seem to be the goal, here. Yes, I understand triage. Oddly enough, I'm reporting on two experiences here for the same thing, an apparent kidney stone, once for me, and once for my wife, two months apart. In both cases, we were checked in quickly. (Warning: They now do check-in on your mobile phone. My sister, who refuses a smart phone, would be up a creek without a paddle.) Then you wait. A lot. Seven hours, total, for each of us. They said that's about typical. First you wait for any tests. Then you get a room for a brief consult with a doctor. Then you wait for test results. Then you get released, if they're not going to admit you. If you try to leave before they crossed the last T and dotted the last I, they say they will chart you as leaving against medical advice. So, in both cases, by the time they were done, they really hadn't done anything, and by that time, we had both stopped hurting so much. We would not have gone here, except that my urologist is associated with Ascension and said to go there if I had a problem, because they could call him specifically if they needed him. read more

I have never been disappointed in my care when I go to Providence. Everyone is professional, kind and considerate. Bedside manner is comforting. They have an amazing team that cares for their patients and their needs. I will never go to another hospital in Waco. Delivered my baby at Ascension Providence and I first want to say the nurses were incredible. They were kind and communicative and I felt completely safe in their hands. However, I was put off by two things: -This hospital allows a third-party contractor to conduct a hearing test on newborns. The problem with this predatory contractor is that they arrive at your room wearing nursing scrubs so you think it's a routine test, but actually they aren't in-network. "Ears and Hearing PA" sends a bill for several hundreds of $$ and claims you signed paperwork (fresh out of labor) that informed you that would be an out-of-pocket cost (I was handed stacks of papers to sign that day and have no recollection of this one). That Providence allows this contractor to act as if they are hospital staff and then charge you money later is exploitative of new parents in the fog of delivery. I complained to staff about this later and never received a resolution. A hearing test is something done for FREE at a newborn's first check up, so completely unnecessary to pay out-of-network for. -Secondly, the pediatrician on shift after my delivery had poor bedside manner. We had a normal and quick delivery and a healthy baby, and we politely asked if we could be discharged that day, rather than having to stay another night. And he said "I have delivered babies in Africa where they ride off on a moped hours after giving birth, but this is America, so no." That was a strange and dismissive comment, and we had to increase our financial burden for an unnecessary additional night's stay at the hospital. read more

Incompetent, just incompetent. I am honestly quite upset. Apparently, there was an issue with my insurance, which Providence became aware of THE DAY BEFORE I was scheduled for a sedated EGD. I was completely taken OFF the schedule, **but nobody informed ME of this**. So I showed up for my 7am check-in (having not eaten for SEVERAL hours) and was turned away and told that I did not have an appointment - despite the fact that I was able to check in at Admitting (5 minutes prior) just fine, and I had received a confirmation call for my appointment at 2pm the day prior, and I had 3 separate documents confirming that my appointment was to be at this day and at this time. I am incredibly frustrated that nobody let me know there was any issue, and they simply just removed me from the schedule and then acted confused when I showed up for my appointment, which I had been led to believe would still occur. I missed class for this appointment that didn't even end up happening. I had a friend miss class to drive me for an appointment I was supposed to be sedated at, but an appointment that didn't even end up happening. This is irresponsible and, quite frankly, disrespectful and a waste of my time. This is not how you ought to be treating patients. At the VERY least, I should have received a phone call letting me know of the issue and of the appointment cancellation, so I didn't show up and miss an important class for nothing. My physician, Dr. Boss, said he would have done the procedure, but **Providence** would not allow him to. Dr. Boss also said that he would be FURIOUS if he was in my position and if he was treated the way I had been in this situation. He stated, emphatically, that someone definitely dropped the ball in regards to scheduling my appointment and also notifying me. I would not recommend Providence to others, especially not people with out-of-state insurance. DESPITE THE FACT THAT PROVIDENCE IS STILL AN IN-NETWORK PROVIDER UNDER MY INSURANCE PLAN. Disgraceful, I was sent home to die...tested me for the flu, strep and covid which I still haven't got a call its been 3 days now, my symptoms could have been easily diagnosed as something else, yet no blood work, no dehydration bag, no iv for fluids or a basic antibiotic. I even got a discriminatory comment from the doctor that thought he was God's gift boasting on how the hospital couldn't live without him when asked what I did for a living I said stay at home mom, he responded I am a stay at home dad but I work! In addition, I'd like to point out a few things since he wrote his review: 1. I've since been contacted by ANOTHER mom who had a very similar experience with an abusive nurse in the labor/delivery ward. 3. Providence has NEVER REACHED OUT TO US regarding this. I have since filed a formal complaint and have ordered my complete file from my delivery in attempt to identify the abusive nurse. Ive seen recent photos that lead me to believe that she is STILL WORKING THERE. 4. SHAME ON THE OTHER NURSES who have witnessed her behavior (another nurse saw what she did to my child, and looked STUNNED -BUT SAID AND REPORTED NOTHING)! My child and I trusted you in our most vulnerable time, and you turned a blind eye to our abuse. It was our first child and delivery experience, so we we shocked but unsure -YOU KNEW BETTER. 5. Don't be afraid to voice your uneasiness. We stayed silent for so long because we assumed THEY were the experts, that maybe WE were imagining things. No. Be on your guard and be vocal. I'd do anything to go back in time and scream at the top of my lungs that that woman stop lifting my child by her leg, stop slamming her down, first on the heat table, then the scale, and to GET AWAY FROM MY CHILD. read more

1/5/24 Arrived by ambulance to the Providence ER. Was having burning sensations throughout my chest & back. I thought I was having a heart attack. I didn't want to call for help in hopes it would subside and, in fact, waited at home for an hour and it did not. I checked my blood pressure HIGH (161/104) and called for help. EMS was incredible as were the firefighters. EMS transported me over to hospital and ER staff sent me out to the waiting room to wait....and wait....and wait.... Sat in the ER for 7 hrs. Never saw a doctor. When shift changed the nurses came around and started to take vitals of EVERYONE in the ER room. First time in 7 hrs that happened. They stated it is supposed to be done every 2 hrs. Nope. Bathroom was disgusting, not once did anyone come and clean it. So much coughing, vomiting etc...I finally left figuring if I was going to die it was not going to be in this filthy disease ridden hospital emergency room. When I went to tell them I was leaving they told me triage had been shut down for the last 7 hours and they still haven't caught up. I am thankful for the EMS and firefighters. They actually paid attention to me and my issues.. The ER team at providence simply did not have time and it is mistaken for them not caring. There was a 95 year old woman that was sent over for high BP from a Senior living. She arrived prior to me and she was sitting wrapped in about 4 blankets still awaiting her turn when I left. It was awful....If you want to pick up new illnesses or possibly die in a waiting room, I then would recommend this ER. ****update**** 1/8/24 9:07 AM - Called 254-751-4699 (Mon-Fri 8 am-4:30 pm) Ascension Texas Community Manager several times and the phone rings and then goes dead each and every time. I had to have surgery at this hospital and felt like I received the best and compassionate and professional care. Everyone that attended to my needs from intake to being discharged was wonderful. The food was terrible but then again, it's a hospital. I wasn't there for the food. I have been to the other hospital that is all over Texas and felt I was never anything more than a number with dollar signs...I never felt that way at Ascension Providence Hospital. read more

He also goes to Dr.Amoro at the pediatric clinic and all the staff, especially the receptionist Jackie, are SO friendly and helpful. This review is just for my experiences at the hospital. I have to get my blood drawn regularly. Most of the time I go here to the Coumadin clinic. The lab techs are always so friendly. On in particular always wishes me a blessed day. The lady working the front info desk is very friendly and knowledgeable. The people running the Coumadin clinic are very thorough and professionals. Given that Coumadin is basically for lack of a better term rat poison I have to trust these people w my life. And that I do. They have always been cautious and shown concern for me. They have also returned my messages as soon as they could. The technician who did an MRI on my neck was very pleasant. I haven't been admitted to the hospital so I can't comment on that. My fiancé utilized the ER but that is really her concern. I think it is a typical ER situation. That comes with the standard concerns and situations. A great place in my experiences. It is okay to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. read more

My mother checked in for outpatient surgery, fully functioning walking on her own. She will be coming out in a wheelchair, never to walk again. Like that isn't bad enough, she had shattered both her arms in a fall a couple and has limited use of her arms. Of years previously and has limited use of her arms. I asked the nurses for a cup with a handle for her coffee. They didn't have one but offered one woukd come up on a tray with breakfast. Well, that would be 2 hours away. So I shared what she has been through and is limited in handling those styrofoam cups. Do you know this manager of their patient cafeteria would not give my Mom a cup with a handle? This is a mixed review, The ER gets ZERO stars but the nursing staff on 3 North gets 5 stars. When a person is in severe pain and vomitting up bile from abdominal pain, NO non urgent patients should be seen before that person. Waiting 2 1/2 hours after triage to get blood drawn while repeatedly telling the nurses how sick you are is UNACCEPTABLE! I have heard horror stories about Hillcrest, now I have a horror story about Providence. Once I finally made it back to see a doctor I had pancreatitis and needed gall bladder removal surgery...thanks for NOTHING ER staff.....Oh yeah and one of the nurses rolled her eyes at me when I told her I thought I was dying (yes, you can die from a ruptured gall bladder and pancreatitis). I spent 5 days in the hospital and had to have surgery. The ER staff could not have cared less and should probably find another line of work before they actually ignore someone to death! I'm at the Lacy Lakeview location. I have to wear a mask to enter, have my temp checked by what I perceive as a dirty thermometer. I feel it's dirty because the nurse did not clean it in between uses on my child and me. What's to make me think she cleaned it after other patients? She did not clean it after rubbing it across my forehead and placing it back down on a table. Just because it's Sunday doesn't mean you puke the clean items being placed on different individuals. Then she looked confused when I mentioned it and all she said was we have to clean it. Yeah but you didn't! She rolled her eyes at me. My mother went into the ER today for breathing trouble, we are all worried about her and she was instructed by her doctor to go to the ER so you know it's pretty serious. She waited for 7 HOURS. She was speaking to a little elderly man who had been sitting in the waiting room for 13 HOURS with a catheter!!!!!! I know y'all are busy and it's a hospital for gods sake. Still no excuse to have people waiting more than 2 hours. Emergency room my ass. More like sit and wait till you die. Pitiful. Do better. This shit is getting seriously old. When I was pregnant in 2021 with my first child I went to providence ER for an emergency my fiancé and I got there at 7 pm. I was even told " oh your high priority because your pregnant " I did not get into a room until 3 am and that was when I went to tell them I was LEAVING then they hurried me to a room. WORST HOSPITAL EVER!!! I was rushed into a emergency c section and from there on me and my family was treated like trash and we were NEGLECTED!!! and had information about our child WITHELD!!! I Couldn't see my child for nearly 4 days bc I tested positive for covid which I had 3 weeks ago and they said it was just still in my blood but my child's father could go see him even though we were in the same room together without a mask? That doesn't make since ?? And what really set me and my boyfriend off is they VACCINATED!!!!our child WITHOUT PARENTAL CONSENT!! and kept lying about all types of reasons why they did it like we are dumb ! there has to be something wrong going on in this hospital what kind of protocol do you guys even have whenever I went here last year for a vaginal delivery I was a first time mom and didn't know anything about a EPIDURAL so I didn't know how long the process was supposed to take but after going through it I know it sure isn't supposed to take an HOURRR! to get a epidural I was poked in my back over 12 times !? Is it even legal to do that ?!!! I asked multiple times if they were almost done and they would avoid my question and kept saying " we're almost done" if they would've said they couldn't find a space in my back the whole time I would've automatically went natural !! The entire time while I was going through that I was in the most pain I have everrr experienced in my life I told them it felt like my baby's head was literally coming out and it's like they didn't believe me and turns out when the nurse finally checks she says she couldn't feel my cervix and says it's time to push soooo that's why I was in so much pain bc I was 10 cm dilated the whole time while being in the most uncomfortable position for an whole hourrr!!! I made appointment on line with fast track. It said wait till its your time to go. The lady working the front desk was nice and helpful. Well needless to say went straight back to triage. Then they told us to have a seat in the waiting room. Maybe abot 40 min later we get called. They are now taking me to get blood drawn. The they said have a seat. I wa also given a cup to collect urine out in the public reastroom in waiting room. So i wait about anther 1 1/2 hours. I started getting frusterater. I send my wife to the counter to see about a estimated time for wait. I said weren needle out of my arm. Then the nurse said really need to be seen. My ankels were swollen and my blood pressure was really high. I asked about why do the fast track if i was going to have to wait hours in the lobby? I was told the fast track was for nonemerencie. So if it is a real emergency you have wait longer. Needless to say i left. The nurse wanted us to stay but she still couldnt give us a estimated time. She said its going to be a while. I have had sever reactions to vaccines. one that debilitated me for almost 2 months.. I have also had Covid and recovered fine. My employer stated they can accept a letter from my Dr. allowing me to keep my job and avoid the shot. Ascension Providence says they will not write a letter regardless of my medical history because " The Covid vaccines are made in a different manner then anything I have been exposed to in the past". Additionally I was told by a very condescending nurse that if I do have a negative reaction they are not responsible even if I requested an exemption which they deny while disregarded my medical history. What does that have to do with a functional medical test? Additionally, they took my picture...I don't know why. I felt like prints and handcuffs were next. I was at Providence Hospital March 5th (2021) for CT scan and bloodwork, March 8th for bloodwork and Covid test and paperwork and March 12th for a surgical procedure on my heart. Each and every visit was met with empathy, concern, and a great attitude in everyone I met. The people I came into contact with in the offices, the labs and the surgical suites went above and beyond to take care, inform, make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. My stay there was among the best of any procedures I have every experienced and unfortunately I have had several in the past. I commend all the employees and personnel for the care they gave me and for making me feel as comforted and content as they could in any situation. read more
