During my drive from Sacramento to Corvallis my left front tire began to fail. Didn't blow but had a huge bubble. I stopped in after hours and a nice young friendly employee said stop by at 8:00am the next morning. Got a motel and was in their office the next morning. They fit me in and had two new tires delivered and installed. On the road by 1:00pm. Went to Brooks Automotive for a new water pump, serpentine belt, thermostat, fluids & cap. I was charged $1755.99 for the job, $1235.40 in labor for a 4 hour job. Because I was charged at the high end of the spectrum, Brooks insisted they needed to keep my car overnight knowing I was from out of town & would need to get a room for the night. An added expense. They didn't care. They didn't start my car til the next morning & when it was done, they left my car with grease stains everywhere that the mechanic's hands & bottom of their shoes touched. The shop is filthy. They also tried to charge me for a 2nd cap til I caught it. read more

I brought in my car due to it making a weird noise. I said I was worried it might be a fan or a belt because it was louder when I went faster. I also needed a lube change. One and a half days later they called with an estimate of $700 to change all the fluids and rotate the tires. I told them I could go to Jiffy Lube for 1/3 that price and said just change the tires. The next day, day 3, we never got a call it was ready so in the afternoon we just showed up to get it. We found out they never drove it to see what the noise was. They said they checked the belts by hand because I said it might be that but did no other noise assessment. Not only are their prices ridiculously high but apparently you have to diagnose your car before you bring it to them. They sure aren't going to try to find the problem on their own. read more

I asked them what they could do and they refused to do anything, claiming that it wasn't their responsibility to fix damages that occurred when they had my car. I gave them my car to increase its value so I could resell it and they managed to decrease its value. Unless you're willing to lose a lot of your money, find another auto place. They have fixed my cars pretty well, timely manner as well and kind. But recently I'm feeling disappointed to have my car looked at a couple times and charged around 300$ to tell me what needs replaced (not actually doing any work) so I am having mixed feelings. I feel many mechanic shops these days are just so committed to not budging on allowing some leeway on things. What a lifesaver! We were on vacation in Mt. Shasta and accidentally had the engine splash shield separate from the passenger side of the car (due to hitting a HUGE pothole); it was a Friday afternoon, and we knew we had a narrow window to get anything done (and quickly). We first went to Point S who said they couldn't get us in, but recommended Brooks and THANK GOODNESS they did - the friendly mechanics at Brooks took the car in right away, and after ten minutes we were back on the road with no further problems. There are some mechanics out there who just want to sell people on whatever they can, and then there are those who I believe want to genuinely help people - based off this one experience, I feel Brooks falls into the latter category. I still cannot put into words how appreciate we are to have found this shop, but I'm glad it exists, and hope it will be there to serve people for a long time; for everyone exploring all of Mt. Shasta and the crazy roads to get there, the shop will most certainly always be needed! :-) read more

Wow, Brooks Automotive apparently doesn't want my business(?) Went there to get tires balanced (bought a used set of wheels / tires locally and just wanted them professionally looked at and balanced before using). Apparently that must've put me in some category they don't like, even though I've spent and referred thousands of $$ on tires in Mt Shasta. So I rolled in this morning and as soon as they hear it's only balancing wheels, they ask me to come back at 4pm... so I drove back out there this afternoon from Shastina. I arrived at 4:04pm and stood around waiting for someone to show up at the front desk. Guy finally comes in at 4:12 and says, "oh it's 4:12 and we really need to start 4pm appointments right at 4 so we're gonna have to reschedule for tomorrow." He says 47 minutes isn't enough time to balance 4 wheels. Apparently they only want big $$$ jobs and have no clue that until that moment I have always believed in bringing my business to the local shops, even if they cost a bit more. A friend of mine just spent nearly $2K due to my recommendation at the tire shop down the road. I would've gone there today but they were down two mechanics, so I thought I'd give Brook's a try. Ok well Brooks has just made a customer for life. I was very impressed by the professionalism and speed of how fast they got my repair done. i was visiting the area from Dixon and my car was making a very weird noise. I called them on Wednesday afternoon. Chris said I could bring the car by early Thursday morning and they would try to squeeze me in as they had about 7 vehicles ahead of me. I decided to drop it off Wednesday night as they have a very convenient key drop box. I called Thursday afternoon just to check. Honestly I wasn't expecting to hear anything as I knew they were really busy. However, I was told my vehicle was getting ready to go on the lift and Friday afternoon they called and said, come pick it up, it's done. I was surprised by how reasonable the price was. My husband went to Brooks to get a diagnosis, and his car fixed. Wanting to support local business, my husband decided to go with Brooks. I have the receipts around here somewhere; but I believe the work done was close to $1,500. Either way it was a lot of money. It took a week and a half, for them to finish with his car. Which is fine we have a third vehicle, and we noted that understandably they are super busy judging by all the cars parked outside. When his vehicle was finished, he picked it up and drove back to his work mind you just a couple doors down and parked until his work day was over. In that time all of the liquid in his vehicle had leaked out entirely into the parking lot. Mind you this was a Friday afternoon. I believe it was the coolant which had a flushing and new coolant in it. My husband took pictures and texted it to the owner. No answer..... A coworker of my husband's, said that she loves Brooks, but will never go there again themselves. She received similar work done to her vehicle, except she didn't notice that the liquid leaked out and eventually melted their heater core. Compensation or work to fix it was never done. My husband then ordered the parts through a local auto parts store, which he received the following Wednesday. He continued to text and call Brooks for about a week and a half. Still ghosting him/no response whatsoever. The last time that he called, a woman picked up where she first apologized, and then noted to my husband that Brooks was currently in the middle of a lawsuit. I do not know what for. This was the last time that he attempted to contact Brooks to work out any kind of anything to remedy some of the cost that went into not fixing his car. We still have not heard from Brooks, and my husband's car was there about 2 months ago. So a week and a half of trying to get a hold of someone by calling the business phone number/texting the owner. And then nothing, and still nothing. After some thought and helpful advice from the tech at the counter, I decided to stay the night in Shasta and allow them to look at it in the morning. It did take a little longer for them to resolve than I was hoping, but the communication along the way was helpful and clear. Ultimately, they got me back on the road and I appreciate them getting me on their agenda first thing so we could get home. I was honest about my situation with them, and rather than gouging me with some crazy price because I did not have a lot of other options, I feel they gave me very fair pricing. Professional. On our way back from camping we had an issue with the parking brake on our 2019 VW Tiguan - tow truck towed our car to this shop. The towing guy was great but I do wish he would have been honest and told us that this shop doesn't do work on our type car that way we could have towed it to a shop that does! Anyways, shop was closed when car was dropped off. Next day I called multiple times to see if they had a diagnosis - they never called me back. On the 2nd day I called to say I was picking up my car since no work had been done and that's when they told me they didn't have the computer or equipment to fix my car and I needed to take it to the dealership. They charged me $60 for that and they basically did nothing to the car. I wish they would have been honest - straight forward from the beginning. Instead of finding out multiple calls and days later. I was on a road trip in the area and one of the tires on my RAV4 had a leak. Based on good reviews, I brought it to Brooks for repair, but I was worried they were going to need the car the whole day, which was going to put a substantial dent in my itinerary. After a short wait upon arriving, they told me it would take 30 minutes for the repair - and I was stoked. Less than 20 minutes and $30 later, I was on the road again, with an expertly patched tire that will last as long as the tire does. What a great experience! I stopped in two car shops on my way to The Shasta Mountain, from San Bernardino, CA. It was a long drive and my little Honda Fit took a liking but it's still ticking. The mechanics here did their jobs, but this town including the staff here doesn't know sympathy, No one. I got scared for a sec. & thought I was going to bu sucked out of everything I had, chewed up and spit out of this town, and nearly had a panic attack. Young fella with Celtic name badge (Irish methinks) came car-side within minutes, stuck his hands, arms-deep in the interticeses of the hot engine compartment to identify problems; found same (3 minuets tops), consigned car for repairs; all done competently and satisfactorily. Such was ease/efficiency demonstrated, I consigned a foreign-made UTV (unit of maladies) which had unsuccessfully been treated by 3 other agencies; but with BCAR, again success! Had an appointment for Friday to have some parts replaced - no diagnosis was necessary, I had the parts, they just needed to put them on. Dropped my car off on a Thursday night. Called Friday and was told "my car wasn't done and the mechanics would be putting it back together Monday". This was a lie because my car hadn't moved from where I parked it. Called on Monday, no answer. Stopped by Monday evening and nobody was at the counter and nobody in the bays although both were open. Called Tuesday and was told "the mechanic who was supposed to work on my car called in sick". Waited Wednesday and Thursday - nobody called to update me and no work was done on my car. After having my car there for A WEEK and no work done, I picked it up to take it somewhere else. Horrible communication, scheduling etc. I can't comment on their work because none had been done. Having managed auto repair shops in the past and having been a service writer, there is no excuse for what I experienced. To top it all off, they had my car parked underneath a Pine tree for four days and now I have Pine sap droplets all over my car. So to sum up my experience, in taking my car to Brooks, I was without my car for a week, was lied to, left in the dark, no work was done and now I have to spend my Saturday cleaning Pine sap off my car which is a PITA! read more

I was so sad, but ready to give up the car as I assumed it would be more money to fix than the car was worth. A tow truck brought us to Brook's Complete and dropped off my car. The guys working were kind, and patient. They listened as I described the problem and let me know the options. I agreed to a standard car check-up and they discovered a spider that had made it's home in my central AC. It had triggered all the car's emergency systems and caused it to shut down. I was charged less than $150 and drove away with a perfectly functioning car I'd never thought would run again. I so appreciated the repairman's honesty and understanding of the situation.
