I had a catastrophic on my 2014 Transit Connect XLT on my way to Springfield Oregon from San Diego. Broke down on the highway outside of Weed with my Ford F150 and Travel Trailer. Very stressful situation. Picked JB out off of Yelp because of the reviews so I had my truck towed there and thought I'd figure out what to do with my trailer after. AAA won't do trailers by the way. I was a wreck as a breakdown on my truck directly affects my ability to survive as I essentially live in it and my trailer. Got to JB and spoke to the owner. Offered to let me tow my trailer to the lot. Gave fantastic advice on who to call for that. Stayed overnight comfortable and safe in the lot for no fee, JB got to the truck first thing in the morning despite being overburdened with work. He test drove it and explained in detail what I had been doing wrong in terms of the engine oil and frequency of changes and checks. All he had to do was fill it back up with oil and gave me the advice to change it again after reaching my destination. I did that and fondly remembered him and his son as authentic, fair-minded, kind and HARD WORKING mechanics. I unhesitatingly recommend JB. He told us he wasn't able to make the repair and we needed to go to a shop, but he didn't stop there, he recommended a shop and stood by until we were able to make contact and confirmation that we would be seen for a repair. It was a cold, windy, rainy night... I was driving up alone on the 5 having a merry ole time. Blasting my music, singing to myself....I stop at a rest stop, and when i returned my car didn't start!!! I recently got a new battery (thinking it fixed my starter problems, since the problem was intermittent) but no, of course my starter is having issues when I'm alone in the middle of nowhere. I stop to feed some stray cats in the parking lot, take a deep breath, and my car starts on the 3rd try. **whew** I don't drink any more water to ensure no stops, and I get to Weed safely... The next morning I call JB and they say to bring it on by. A man named Willy helped me, and ran the test on the starter. I did need a new one. They ordered the part, it came in the same day, and by 3pm I had a working starter again! It was around $300 for a starter which is about average for the parts/labor on my toyota. There check engine light test only costs $55, which is much cheaper then the city prices this gal is used too. A very trusted small shop, hopefully I won't need to go here again the next time I visit my friend in weed! read more

My husband and I were driving from Ashland to Reno and on I5, near Weed, we discovered a major oil leak on our Highlander. We found JB Automotive on Yelp and pulled in right around closing time. Robert was there and put our car on the lift and found a mess of oil all over the under carriage and right front wheel. He and Michael worked on the car for awhile, finding that we needed some parts. As it was after hours, he apologetically said he couldn't get us on the road that day but he would call around the next morning for the parts he needed and would get us on the road as soon as possible the next day. True to his word he had the car ready to go the next day, working hard to solve the usual problems with such a repair. JB Auto are the best mechanics I've ever encountered. Im 61, and have had many mechanics. They are fair and honest! AND mostly, they are just so friendly and have a genuine concern. How rare these days. I highly recommend. Examples, I have a Honda that the tranny is going on. They diagnosed the problem and didn't even charge me a penny. Unbelievable. The "service engine soon" light came on around grass lake. I had my 91 year old aunt with me and it was hot so I didnt want to take any chances... Stopped in here to see if they had time to read the code. They brought us right in and found out the problem was lack of basic maintenance on my part (in dire need of new plugs and wires). They didnt have the parts on hand and it was getting late so we rolled on with no further problems. Of course I was greatly relieved. They really went out of their way to take care of us, service one rarely sees anymore. They know the basics but anything more complicated than a oil change is beyond their expertise. What should have taken 3 days tops took 3 months and to top it off, it still wasn,t fixed. Twenty miles out from Weed, CA, we heard a loud metal scraping sound in our right wheel. Sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. We had driven through a road construction site where they were resurfacing the road and guessed the problem started there. Nervously drove back to weed around 3pm and saw JB Automotive right away. He came right out and took a listen. His calm demeanor put us at ease. He reassured us that we just had rocks stuck in the wheel and that he'd get them out. Brought our car right in and propped it up. Turns out this is not uncommon but the rocks we had were especially hard and especially stuck because of the special material used to resurface roads. He spent almost an hour trying to get the stubborn rocks out. Even took the time to show us where they were lodged and shared them with us when he finally got them out. The cost? a 12-pack of soda from the grocery store across the street. AND, the soda was on sale!!! Our lucky day. We slipped a $20 bill to his partner and asked him to pass it on after we left. What a great small-town experience to add to our 2-week road trip. There are still good, kind and honest people in the world and one of them lives in Weed, CA. read more
