I really liked them and their food, but I can't believe how lame they are. Ordered 2 sandwiches for dinner and surprise, only one shows up. No notice given, only a receipt that says REMOVED. When we called and asked why we didn't get a notification or someone reaching out with another option they said "I'm sorry." Literally told them one person doesn't have food to eat and they didn't have anything to say. Horrible customer service.. don't think I will be back.

Brooklyn has been a place I've wanted to try for a while. I decided to go for lunch ; I wasn't aware it was a pick up and go type of place there is no seating. The restaurant is really nice especially being New York inspo and culture to Cali. The prices are really good as well my boyfriend and I got about 4 slices for a decent price. The pizza themselves there's a good amount of options. And the flavor is really good. I think because of so many option that you can receive as slices is good in a sense but it has its cons. They pizza were sitting out for a bit but they heat it up for you . I think that's were things got tricky cause silicon type square pizza is hard to warm up ; cause my pizza wasn't hot put it tasted really good. I also had a buffalo chicken pizza which I thought tasted really good but before I finish the pizza I notice the like grease film on the buffalo sauce likes it's been sitting for a while and unfortunately I didn't want to finish it. But I believe if you order a whole pizza fresh it'd would be top tier cause the flavor is there.

Pizzas available for a slice! Missing some veggie.

Brooklyn Squares has a monopoly on edible square pizza in Downey. Tried the Spicy Pepperoni Honey Deniro square and it was surprisingly good. When I say surprisingly, I don't mean to intend I figured it'd be bad, just the spice was surprising. If you're like me, millions of places serve things under the label of spicy and in reality, they consider a dash of pepper spicy so you're left with the unfulfilled itch of wanting to ingest something with some actual heat. Glad to announce, the spicy here was actually spicy. Flavorful sauce, good amount of cheese, topped with pepperoni, ricotta and a drizzle of honey, which I'm not a huge fan of this trend, but it ain't bad. It's not enough to ruin everything that's under the drizzle. Especially the crust - it's super yummy! Also tried a regular thin crust slice of the meat lovers pizza - good, greasy, salty, cheesy. Would probably not order again as one square slice was enough food to satisfy my big back. I did notice a lack of vegetarian slices readily available during my visit. Saw a picture of a spinach ricotta slice but they didn't have any during my visit. Wish they also offered a white pie - typically white sauce, cheese and ricotta. Thin slice pizza place staple if you ask me but sadly missing from here. You got the ricotta and cheese! You guys can do it! Spinach ricotta description is more or less the white pie but... spinach on pizza... nah. Service was OK - nothing huge, asked a few questions, got some answers, paid and that's it. Cashier was cool. Saw us struggling with dirty hands and gave us some napkins. I will say the only thing that's really off putting about the place is how uncomfortable the inside is. Gets cramped - fast - nowhere to sit, just a bar lined up at the wall for standing and eating but if there's even one other group in there, you're squeezed in and it's kind of uncomfortable to eat massive slices of pizza that way. It seemed to be more of a grab and go, which was expected, but a pizza by the slice place also offers some expectation that I'll be able to eat a slice at the establishment and it just wasn't really built for that. Bar isn't wide enough to even place your pizza box on it, hangs off. I don't recall if we were asked if we were dining in or taking to go, so maybe that was our fault! Had we said, dining in, maybe would've gotten our individual slices on our own plates but it didn't feel like that was an option - I'll ask next time and confirm! Price is honestly pretty reasonable - for 3 people, I paid $32. Got 3 squares, and 2 thin slices so almost a full pizza. Priced at around $10/person is great and appreciated - times are tough. Location is OK, small plaza so good amount of parking, but also pretty busy, just need to be aware of your surroundings a bit. Overall, was a good enough experience to want to come back! May I request a version of the white pie... but on the square pizza? Just a suggestion... for me 'cause I matter for some reason... please? Anyway, thanks for having us!

So glad I found this place! I didn't expect inside to be so small, no seating inside or out. It's a take to go type of place. The staff was very friendly and had patience with us as it was our first time. Pizza that we wanted was already ready in their display. Pizza was warm and tasted fresh. Great flavor and you can tell they use good ingredients. Will definitely be back!

For context I'm not a big fan of New York style pizza so I ordered different menu items because I still wanted to give this place a try. I ordered a Classic Reuben (hot), they also have the option to get a New York style Reuben which has coleslaw inside rather than sauerkraut. To me it was pretty average, personally it didn't have any wow factor but brownie points for them not being shy with the pastrami. You do get a decent size sandwich for $14 but it was a difficult to eat and quite messy. The garlic knots were good. The mozzarella balls are good. The chicken parm I personally didn't try it myself but I was told that the chicken tasted rubbery. I took a picture for reference.

Wait wow! Good pizza on this side of town finally!!!!!! As soon as I walked in I could tell this was gonna hit. But when I got my order and took my first bite...the crunch!!!! And the taste. Omg. I got the spicy pepperoni square which wasn't that spicy but it was delicious! I also got the pepperoni ricotta Deniro something like that. It was so good! They both had hot honey I believe but it wasn't overly sweet. This is a solid pizza place. There aren't any seats but they do have a little stand up table, but it might be too tight to eat there as they get busy and the line is in the way. I can't wait to go back and try more. The price is super fair as well. Try it!

Hmmm so it's not the best pizza I've had in Downey, and the pasta was a little bland. Large portion pasta is a plus. Chicken in the pasta was good. My slice was a little soggy in some sections for some odd reason.

Tucked inside an unassuming strip mall is this "oh my wow" pizza joint!! Its whole or by the slice so we got 2 deep dish and 2 thin. Truly the best pizza we have had in YEARS!!! Lucky its in my neighborhood!! Restaurant is super clean, adorably adorned and service was fast. I was in and out in a few minutes!! Best pizza ever!

Found this place on Instagram and it's a terrific addition to the Downey food scene! Pizza and antipasto salad were great and the place is busy and very cute inside. Unfortunately, aside from a very narrow counter, there's nowhere to eat on premises. I hope they might consider adding a few small café tables on the sidewalk out front! Easy parking is a plus, and someone honked at me so that added a true New York vibe!

After a graduation ceremony and a whole lot of waiting around, we were starving and trying to figure out where to eat. I remembered seeing a TikTok about a pizza spot in Downey called Brooklyn Square, so we decided to give it a try. First thing to know -- this is definitely more of a grab-a-slice-and-go type of place. There's basically no seating, so don't expect a sit-down restaurant experience. You pretty much order, stand around for a bit, and take your food home or eat at the little bar area. That being said, the pizza was delicious. The black-and-white decor is giving cool and while we were there, people kept walking in nonstop, so it's clearly a popular spot. I ordered the grandma's slice with ricotta honey loaded sauce from a deep dish square, seriously good. They also have garlic, cheese, chili flakes, and extras at the bar so you can load your pizza up exactly how you like it.Convenience-wise, it's not the easiest place if you're looking to relax and dine in, but the food definitely makes up for it. Five stars from me -- worth the stop if you're craving good pizza in Downey.

Went here to try their New York style pizza after reading about it and was happy I did it. It's only a takeout and not a very big space, we ordered a large pepperoni. I was able to fold it in half just like a New York style thin crust. I was happy with the taste of the sauce, the texture of the crust; all of it was enjoyable. BTW it was $26. I was so hungry. I didn't remember to take any photos until we were wrapping up the leftovers.

So many options, lots of bottle/cans and a rotating draft menu that carries more than IPAs, nothing wrong with IPAs, i drink them but other types exist. I can always find my funky Sours on tap, and did i mention delicious fresh samiches? Dayum son! Hope nothing but good luck for them, they are a staple in Downey's DNA.

In our pursuit of great…read moresandos, we've tried Katz Deli in NYC, Brent's in Northridge and even the sorely missed but never forgotten Miller's East Coast Deli in San Francisco. So when, tasked with finding a suitable place for our quarterly lunch meeting, I entered "Jewish deli" and "Downey" into Yelp, half expecting to find the lackluster lineup of national chains that PURPORT to make good sandwiches- Subway, Joysie Mike's, Jimmy John's and the usual suspects of sandwich sorriness! Imagine then, fellow Yelpers, when Uncle Henry's Deli appeared...as welcome a sight as my gorgeous bikini-clad wifey. Both Mick and I, who first bonded over our shared love of the national pastime, immediately likened Henry's with the MLB legend who shares my birthday- Henry Louis Aaron, aka Hamnerin' Hank and the REAL all-time home run leader, Barry Bonds and his oversized gourd, er, head be damned. In his 22yr career, Aaron belied his average size (5ft 11 tall, 185 lbs) and deployed his missile-fast wrists to smack 755 homers. All while playing in Jim Crow era Atlanta. Uncle Henry's Deli, similarly, defies expectations. Who would think of putting a Jewish-style delicatessen in Downey, famous for birthing the honey-voiced Carpenters and the self-styled "Mexican Beverly Hills?!" Mick ordered a super sized Original, which is turkey, roast beef + ham plus cheddar on white. He went with potato wedges which are sizable. Me? I chose one hot, one cold. A super sized Big B (Pastrami, Bacon + Swiss on toasted sourdough, hold the pickles) and an Egg Salad on enviably well made squaw bread, hold the tomatoes. Pro Tip- From a lifetime of ordering well made sandos in every major city in America, never put tomatoes on a cold sandwich unless you want the notoriously water-dense fruit to dampen your sandwich! The only mild drawback of my food order was the side of potato salad, which in my opinion would benefit from some black pepper and minced celery. The service at Henry's is expedient- You've barely helped yourself to one of their dark wood benches when they've called your order! The restroom was, yes, as cozy as the overall venue...but sufficiently clean + stocked. Watch out, tho- The hot water runs hotter than the devil's temperature! In closing, you can take Uncle Henry's to the bank. Yes, you'll part with upwards of a Jackson, mebbe even two. But you'll enjoy the treat, cuz the caliber of food is very bit as real as the hammer (aka Louisville Slugger) that Hamnering Hank used to bash all of his home runs with.

It's my absolute favorite breakfast burrito within a 50-mile radius because it does everything right. I get it with eggs over medium, chorizo, potatoes, cheese and bacon. Great portion, amazing texture and the flavor is on point from start to finish. You can actually taste each component instead of everything turning into one salty breakfast blob. Every bite has something going on in the best way. Seasoned perfectly. Chef's kiss. The homemade salsa is fire too. Spicy, flavorful and exactly what the burrito needs. It cuts through the richness, wakes everything up and makes the whole thing even better. Dangerous stuff honestly, because now the burrito feels incomplete without it. I believe they got a mild and hot. Fries were bomb too. I ask for extra seasoning and they come through. The ketchup was also weirdly good, chilled and delicious. Could be Heinz, could be homemade, could be magic. Either way, I want more of it. Vibe is chill and down to earth. The people here are genuinely great too, friendly, easygoing and consistent every time I've stopped by. You place your order, they give you a ticket and you pay when it's ready. They also have a fun drink selection, including Calypso drinks and Stewart's root beer in cans and glass bottles. I respect a deli that gives the drink fridge some effort. There's seating when you walk in and more seating in the back area of the deli. Parking can be hit or miss and the spot is easy to pass by, but that breakfast burrito is worth circling the plaza for. I've done it. I'll do it again. Easy recommendation, the consistency of their food and service is on another level. I'm excited for my next haircut.
